As someone who makes and designs circuit boards for a living, take this advice. Taking the power supply out of the plastic casing and setting it down on the floor can cause damage to the circuitry. Luckily that didn't happen. Almost anything can discharge static electricity. Including the floor and your hands. Most humans can't feel when they discharge static under 2000 volts. Which is plenty to destroy circuit pathways and IC chips. So be careful. And those things your were adjusting look like variable resistors and are set precisely. Adjusting them may temporary fix then problem but may lead to a blown capacitor or transformer. So adjust those at your own risk.
Thank you for posting. It seems to have fixed my issue for now. My PlayStation was only staying on for 20 minutes max. It has now been on for over 3 hours without shutting off.

Hahaha what a great video😂 I’m not making fun of him it was really funny when he didn’t know the terminology for the flat head and philips* screw driver but this kid goes right to the point haha and entertaining!
Guys for those one that didn't work try releasing the power supply first then put it beside then go to the bluray or the hard disk place but be very very careful when you release out the bluray after releasing power supply there will be a big data cable or clips or anything you want to call it under the bluray not on the sides of the power supply it will be coloured white and blue its wide remove it first and plug it again then after that you will find another 2or3 cables or clips or whatever you call it after the big white and blue cable or clips or whatever remove it then plug it again after removing the 2or3 cables or clips or whatever you call it and plugging it shut the ps3 with screwdriver hardly then see results like if it works 😎😎😎
You forgot to mention the t8 star screws by the USB ports, there are either 3 or 4 depending on model, also the two screws that hold the power supply down as well
Oh yeah i probably did because I lost them before making the video which made me forgot about them , thank you for reminding others and reminding myself :D and i hope you enjoyed!
Could be this, could also be a blown capacitor anywhere on the power supply, or failed CPU/GPU contact which requires reballing..or I assume a bunch of other things that produce this symptom. I'm hunting for what it happens to be on old console I found and it's starting to feel pretty pointless without a multimeter. Sony should really learn to use error beep codes, or some other way to communicate exactly what's broken. But thanks for the effort of making a video and I'm glad to see some people have fixed theirs with your help. Btw, you can discharge static from your body by touching a ground. Also, be careful not to touch capacitors, Google what they look like if you don't know, they are those 2 large black things on the power supply for example. Their job is to store charge, the larger they are the more they store generally. The big ones in old TVs could literally kill you.
thanks so much. it helped me alot. my ps3 kept turning off in the middle of my gaming. now i can play a lot longer den 25 mins. a day. thanks sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Quick question, where did you learn that this is what the problem was? I mean I understand being a computer hardware technician or knowing somebody who is might lead you to just assume this is the solution, but I'm more or less wondering how you, or whoever figured this out, discovered how many degrees to screw it.
Leboyo56 it’s kinda universal with every console actually like if GameCube powers on and off or your phone does that you gotta do process of elimination which is replacing the battery
To me everything was very clear, I see no reason why people have to criticize him, perhaps if he spoke a lil bit slowly and showed the PS3 working at the end, but any way, it's a five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to me.
Which system is this you took apart? I took one apart that looked identical from the outside, but on the inside, it looks nothing like the inside of yours. those 2 circular white pieces you turned to adjust the power source were not even there when I opened it. the one I was working on was the original from 2008. probably 20 or 40 gig I think.

Do not listen to this kid. Firstly those "screws" are potentiometers and one should not go making adjustments to them if you do not know what function they perform. It could be current limiting, it could be voltage settings too. You can tell if that fuse is blown just by looking at it, you have to test it with a multimeter using the continuity function. The type of fuse is most likely a HRC type. It can take longer than 30minutes for the filtering capacitors to discharge.
We learn from the best! and thank you for the feedback! try making a video like I have and maybe you can help more people than I did with a better solution ! I enjoyed your videos too , nothing beats ssr11 races...
ok so my ps3 slim can be on 30 minutes, 1 hour or 3 hours then turns off, no red lights and wont revive for hours, i have to unplug and plug back for it to revive, is this a PSU issue i am having?

Thankyou man you just saved my life!!
Hahah om glad I did :)
:D
Taylor Harris does your ps3 still works with this method?
Aren’t those capacitors charged up? And wouldn’t that zap him if he touched them?
I assume, if you want to be safe you can check the voltages with a multimeter or even hold a high value resistor to the ends to discharge it.
I really hope he's right because I don't really like to do anything else besides playing on my ps3
I enjoyed your videos too , nothing beats ssr11 races...
my power supply is a diffrent color than yours but i have a slim 320gb i dont have the white screws on my power supply someone help what do i do
ok so my ps3 slim can be on 30 minutes, 1 hour or 3 hours then turns off, no red lights and wont revive for hours, i have to unplug and plug back for it to revive, is this a PSU issue i am having?
