the ttk in dayz is so short and the damage is so high, it doesnt really matter what weapon you use, if you have better positioning you could kill a guy fully geared with a u-70, its not about the gun in dayz, its about whos using it
I've abandoned mosins multiple times for far inferior weapons due to the amount of ammunition I carry, 7.62x54r isn't common on the servers I play on, however 5.45 and 7.62x39 are so I often try and find an AK74 (preferably an AKS74U due to my real life counterpart) or an SKS.
you should try it out again, as a long time vet, i always find plenty of reasons to jump back in. Zombies are finally a serious threat now, even if they are super buggy and annoying a lot of the time
In my opinion rarity should'nt be considered in the overall score of a weapon because it doesn't help players if they have to decide between weapons. Which I would say is the best use for this type of ranking
@@meerbee2910the sporter is not as bad as people think, i have taken down a two man with one before, they were teir 4 had heli gear, i used a bottle suppressor a few epis and a hunting scope, never let them bandage and they bled out without ever firing a shot at me, good gun, but i have assumes people call it bad because they hip fire it at close range and expect it to work

Solid methodical content as always! One area I feel you should cover is the effect suppressors have on a weapon, but not purely from a max detection range pov (I believe they are all similar), rather from the actual audible experience. An M4 for instance has a much sharper report that the AUX's low 'pop' when suppressed, making the shooters location far more detectable. This is even more so for the Pioneer, which when suppressed is whisper quiet and a head shot beast to 300m, though without the suppressor it loses its advantage completely. I guess my point here is that there are some nuanced advantages that quantitative analysis misses, and that some weapons are superior in certain configurations.
Agreed the Pioneer is statistically pants but is the only weapon outside of the VSD that can use proper suppressors. Also coupled with an M4 means you only need to carry one weapon ammo type around. As long as you headshot with it. It is a pretty awesome weapon.

Im dayz noob, abt 20 hours, and struggling to choose what guns to keep, especially on community where spawns are more frequent. I ended up taking a screenshot from this vid & use it to help me decide if each find is an upgrade or not (along with how many bullets & condition of course) its been really helpful & until ive played several hundred hours & discover which guns I'm best with, this will be my guide. thanks for taking the time :)
Love the vid! It may not be the most versatile, but I still love my sawn-off shotty. Easy to get, compact, useful for clearing / defending corners against solo players. I do think its spawn rate stat is artificially low... 0 isn't accurate. Shotgun + hacksaw isn't too hard to find. I'd definitely give it up for a Vaiga instantly though.
About the only thing i would change is the m70 and 550 by swaping them around. Internal mag over a 10 round mag any day and the recoil of the 550 is just to much worse makes it hard to see shots land.
Not to be nitpicking but the AS VAL is technically a SMG Carbine hybrid. It fits best into the SMG category. Therefore making it the best SMG in the game.
This is great for statistics of each gun on paper. Now you should do a test with each gun on a obstacle course to see how the performe in game situations. Time and efficiency.
I think theres a few more things to consider. For example: how much extra value does the hunting scope give over a PU? The extra zoom can make hitting distant shots easier, even if its not quite as accurate as the mosin. Additionally, this stat doesnt consider the roles each gun can play. Non sniper rifles are best for close combat and the sk's low mag capacity and slow reload time combined with its lack of a full auto make it worse than the baby ak, or even some smgs. But, the sk would also probably be less preferable than a mosin or tundra at long ranges. Since it can do both effectively, its score makes sense, however, it doesnt take into account that by the time you find an sk you likely have a high teir sniper. This means that even though the sk is a better overall weapon than something like a baby ak, the ak is preferable because you already have a sniper. Anyways cool vid cool idea
One slight problem I'm seeing already, the m79 actually does do loads of damage, it's just hard. But if you nail someone in the chest from about 5meters to about 25meters you can do anywhere from full health to about half health damage, plus knock out. From 25 meters to about 100meters if you land a headshot it also does damage/Insta kill plus and or knock outs. Me and my buddy were testing that the other day. Edit: i know this was a year ago so it could've changed too, but just letting ya know.
I think the biggest upset is the 3 snipey bolt bois. It doesn't take into account the onscreen recoil of the savannah making it hard to confirm hits and increasing the time between follow up shots, the savannah needing an extra part to be viable over the mosin and tundra, and the advantages of the higher magnification of the hunter scope that can't be used on the mosin.
I used to use the double-barrel sawed off as my only sidearm in DayZ, with buckshot. My reasoning always was that if I have to switch to my sidearm I'm already seconds away from either dying or killing the threat in close quarters, so I might as well have the maximum hit probability/damage to dump in the shortest period of time. It has saved me numerous times. But this was back in like 2020. I don't know how much worse they've made it, I haven't played much since.
I'd appreciate also adding categories in: Either primary or secondary stats: Ammo rarity (after all without it weapon is just a worse hammer), mag rarity (the best score being that it doesn't need one) Tertiary stats: Whether iron sights are clear (so that it's pleasant to use them) or not This could make some weapons change places (like I feel AK-74 mags and ammo are very common, especially around Stary Sobor/VMC area plus being able to find 7.62x39 ammo elsewhere than militaries could let AKM jump a few places upwards).
agreed, I've often favored the Skorpion as an early game weapon as I find boxes of .380 everywhere along the coast and inland in the police stations. I think a lot of this also depends on intent: if you're just looking to stealth kill zombies will you loot a town, the Mark II obviously ranks a lot higher along with a suppressed MLOCK or Skorp. PVP obviously carries a different set of concerns when weapon shopping :D

I'm sorry, but I have to point out. There is a fundamental error in your rating. It is wrong to divide weapons into: rifles, sniper rifles, pistols, etc. It is necessary to divide the weapon only into two types: short-range weapons and long-range weapons. You will have to shoot, no matter what, at opponents in the distance or fight for your life in close contact. I am convinced that it is possible to kill an enemy at close range with a mosin, but with FN Fal it will be easier to do. Now I will explain my idea more accessible) Mosin works great on targets far away, but the Tundra hides better. SVD is universal, but FN Fal is even more universal, because it competes with AUG at close range. I would like to see the weapons based on practicality, so a list of weapons that, when you have x when do you swap it for y or z weapon. You can include ease of use, so does it need attachments, mags, etc to work well or no, how easy is it to find the ammo for it, is it an early, mid or endgame loot category etc. I think a lot of weapons would surprises people that they will be not that great of a choice and some will be. I know it will depend on the situation and what loot you have for said weapon etc but based on the stats is what I mean and you go from standpoint, no attachments or ammo found yet.
I was surprised to see svd, which I main when I find it in first place. It's not at all popular among all of my friends or any other people we come across. Interested to see how this statistic will evolve. great vid.
in my opinion it rarely matters, i mean of course having a fully kitted SVD/M4 combo is ideal but the spawn rates for most of those guns is so low (especially if you play high pop servers) that its always better to stick with whatever gun you have a mag + plenty of ammo for. I've run with the UMP-45 plenty of times and, even as "the worst SMG", it can still shred players up close Very interesting analysis though! I feel a lot more happy to have found so many SVDs knowing only 5 spawn per server lmao
thankfully most weapons in DayZ are pretty lethal. my wife has gotten more kills with the sg5k and usg than anything else, despite having access to higher tier guns. love the sg5k and usg.
WOBO! A great video idea that I would find super useful would be explaining to some extent how explosives and maybe guns do damage THROUGH base walls and how much is mitigated. I have yet to figure out a formula. Keep up the killer videos!
My ideal gun combo is Mosin for long range SVAL for CQB. If I had to take just one gun I'd go for the LAR then SVD. Your stats feel rather spot on personal experience.
Personally, I'd put ammo cap in rhe primary slot. For most semi-auto and full-auto guns, it can potentially mean the difference between living and dying. Aside from that, great vid mate!
I think there are factors to include that have nothing to do with the math or stats. Like "does the gun support a standard or normalized suppressor?" That's my main issue with the blaze over the vsd even with double shot. Bottle suppressors are a pain in the ass.
Tbh I always thought sawed off shotguns where better, I also always replaced my mkII but u made me realize it’s rlly good at taking down zombies quietly
I love the Mosin an it’s always been my favorite gun in dayz. It can be found in low areas an it can kill highly geared players. It really levels the playing field. An so does the M16. I’ve really been enjoying the gun sense it’s been added. I’ve won some pretty sweaty gun fights with just a M16.
Great video, love all the hard work gone into it! Would it be possible to add another score for "attachment reliability" possibly in the secondary or tertiary score. Like say the Mosin's score is really high, but the need for the pu scope could put its score down a bit, or you could say you need a magazine for the Cr-550 but don't for the Tundra because of its internal magazine. Each weapon is good on paper when performing with their best attachments, but without them most of the time they drastically underperform.
Just a thought but weapons that only drop from helis should probably have a bump to rarity considering the rng to find a heli to begin with, not just how many are in any given server
I think u should take into consideration how a weapon reloads to have an affect on its score. The magazine based weapons are more time consuming and can be harder to use in the heat of battle especially with few bullets that’s why I love the pump and the revolver

I’m running with an AUR AX right now and I’m soo bloody scared of losing it lol. So much so that when I went to help a friend I’m Berezino today, I stashed it and ran with a USG45 instead. Was so scared some freshie was gonna pop me with an UJ and steal it 🤦♂️.

The best weapon in the game (in my opinion): 1) first place is shared by: SVD, FN Fall, AUG AX - They are roughly equal, with their pluses and minuses. And most importantly - universal. Good for both: for close range and long range. And if Fall and SVD are more optimized for long range, then AUG is the king of close range, but at medium-long range it will be a very good weapon. 😅 Best weapons in the game.
The only problem i have is that, even tho they are different, the 1911 Colt and its engraved version could be both considered as the same, as the change is purely aesthetical, making it a 25 spawn rate weapon, instead of two different weapons, because no matter which one you got, it's the same thing.
Dear Wobo, could you do a video about some things people want to see added to the game? For example: Crossbow+Craftable bolts, the vehicle physics from ARMA reforged, the handgun scope on the repeater carbine?
@@whyareusobad3528 No reason you should be using an AK at Long range anyway, they're meant for Medium to Close distances, long distance shooting which better suits the SK or just a Marksman rifle or Sniper like any of the Bolt weapons or SVD or even the FAL as a Battle Rifle are better for said long distance engagement, chances are if you engage someone with a 101 or even 74, M4 or what ever they'll just Zig Zag away and into the tree line and vanish, it isn't viable when if you can hit a Long Ranged rifle shot the Shock will get them instead of dispersing 30 or more lower powered rounds which lose lots of shock and damage at range mind you and barely hitting any of them let alone the shots you do hit doing much of anything considering most people are Wearing Stab Vest which are very common or a Plate Carrier which is easy to obtain from a Heavy Zombie. Not to mention the High Cal .308/7.62x54 weapons in the game have a high chance at breaking ones leg and giving you the win if you play the rest right.
🙋♂I'd love to see the best weapons you can fit in your pockets, in order to appear to be a Freshie. I think the Sawed-off Shotty w/ buckshot may place higher there.
Speed (bullet velocity) is everything. You can throw a can of green beans at someone, but it’s not gonna do much damage; but a spec of sand hitting the earth at 5x light speed will decimate all life on earth.
Where are you finding the spawn rate information? I play official server and I have 3 vss and 2 sval. They’re a dime a dozen in rify. Also I’m pretty sure we have 4 101s across our squad. Another awesome video, thanks!
Tells you the nominal figure when have own server, alwaya starts as Vanilla. The nominal numbers though aren't including that the guns that are in storage or on a player.

SKS is a weapon you take because you have nothing else. Like yourself a sniper plus a AK74U or SMG is far better.

You will have to shoot, no matter what, at opponents in the distance or fight for your life in close contact. I am convinced that it is possible to kill an enemy at close range with a mosin, but with FN Fal it will be easier to do. Now I will explain my idea more accessible) Mosin works great on targets far away, but the Tundra hides better. SVD is universal, but FN Fal is even more universal, because it competes with AUG at close range. The main disadvantage of the FN Fal is the lack of a silencer, which is why the SVD wins as a long-range weapon. Your rating is good, but based on a slightly wrong approach. You can rank on: 1) Universal weapons, 2) Close range weapons, 3) Long range weapons - and this will make much more sense. Moreover, the main choice is to carry two weapons or choose something universal and wear one. My opinion.

I would like to see the weapons based on practicality, so a list of weapons that, when you have x when do you swap it for y or z weapon. You can include ease of use, so does it need attachments, mags, etc to work well or no, how easy is it to find the ammo for it, is it an early, mid or endgame loot category etc. I think a lot of weapons would surprises people that they will be not that great of a choice and some will be. I know it will depend on the situation and what loot you have for said weapon etc but based on the stats is what I mean and you go from standpoint, no attachments or ammo found yet.

in my opinion it rarely matters, i mean of course having a fully kitted SVD/M4 combo is ideal but the spawn rates for most of those guns is so low (especially if you play high pop servers) that its always better to stick with whatever gun you have a mag + plenty of ammo for. I've run with the UMP-45 plenty of times and, even as "the worst SMG", it can still shred players up close

thankfully most weapons in DayZ are pretty lethal. my wife has gotten more kills with the sg5k and usg than anything else, despite having access to higher tier guns. love the sg5k and usg.

WOBO! A great video idea that I would find super useful would be explaining to some extent how explosives and maybe guns do damage THROUGH base walls and how much is mitigated. I have yet to figure out a formula. Keep up the killer videos!

My ideal gun combo is Mosin for long range SVAL for CQB. If I had to take just one gun I'd go for the LAR then SVD. Your stats feel rather spot on personal experience.
Personally, I'd put ammo cap in rhe primary slot. For most semi-auto and full-auto guns, it can potentially mean the difference between living and dying. Aside from that, great vid mate!
I think there are factors to include that have nothing to do with the math or stats. Like "does the gun support a standard or normalized suppressor?"
That's my main issue with the blaze over the vsd even with double shot. Bottle suppressors are a pain in the ass.
I’d consider the bk-43 sawed off a tool rather than a weapon. It’s a nice way to carry a small shotgun to raid bases.

I think the sawn-off double barrel should be able to fit in a pistol holster then it could somewhat be worth it but mainly for style points

I love the Mosin an it’s always been my favorite gun in dayz. It can be found in low areas an it can kill highly geared players. It really levels the playing field. An so does the M16. I’ve really been enjoying the gun sense it’s been added. I’ve won some pretty sweaty gun fights with just a M16.

Would it be possible to add another score for "attachment reliability" possibly in the secondary or tertiary score.
Like say the Mosin's score is really high, but the need for the pu scope could put its score down a bit, or you could say you need a magazine for the Cr-550 but don't for the Tundra because of its internal magazine. Each weapon is good on paper when performing with their best attachments, but without them most of the time they drastically underperform.

I think u should take into consideration how a weapon reloads to have an affect on its score. The magazine based weapons are more time consuming and can be harder to use in the heat of battle especially with few bullets that’s why I love the pump and the revolver

The best weapon in the game (in my opinion):
1) first place is shared by: SVD, FN Fall, AUG AX - They are roughly equal, with their pluses and minuses. And most importantly - universal. Good for both: for close range and long range. And if Fall and SVD are more optimized for long range, then AUG is the king of close range, but at medium-long range it will be a very good weapon. 😅 Best weapons in the game.
The only problem i have is that, even tho they are different, the 1911 Colt and its engraved version could be both considered as the same, as the change is purely aesthetical, making it a 25 spawn rate weapon, instead of two different weapons, because no matter which one you got, it's the same thing.

@@whyareusobad3528 No reason you should be using an AK at Long range anyway, they're meant for Medium to Close distances, long distance shooting which better suits the SK or just a Marksman rifle or Sniper like any of the Bolt weapons or SVD or even the FAL as a Battle Rifle are better for said long distance engagement, chances are if you engage someone with a 101 or even 74, M4 or what ever they'll just Zig Zag away and into the tree line and vanish, it isn't viable when if you can hit a Long Ranged rifle shot the Shock will get them instead of dispersing 30 or more lower powered rounds which lose lots of shock and damage at range mind you and barely hitting any of them let alone the shots you do hit doing much of anything considering most people are Wearing Stab Vest which are very common or a Plate Carrier which is easy to obtain from a Heavy Zombie.
Not to mention the High Cal .308/7.62x54 weapons in the game have a high chance at breaking ones leg and giving you the win if you play the rest right.

Speed (bullet velocity) is everything. You can throw a can of green beans at someone, but it’s not gonna do much damage; but a spec of sand hitting the earth at 5x light speed will decimate all life on earth.

Tells you the nominal figure when have own server, alwaya starts as Vanilla. The nominal numbers though aren't including that the guns that are in storage or on a player.
