Fortune rota volvitur: descendo minoratus; alter in altum tollitur; nimis exaltatus rex sedet in vertice caveat ruinam! nam sub axe legimus Hecubam reginam.
Seeing this makes you realise how well The Doors fit the historical moment of the late 1960s. I can't imagine how they would have turned out in the 70s and 80s.
Well I was 13 in 1979 when the film Apocalypse Now came out. That's how I got into them. There was renewed interest in the group. It's often said their music is timeless because the lyrics are about universal stuff (earth, air, fire, water etc). Might also be because their albums are rereleased so often!
In 1984, MTV had a Doors special titled "The Fire's Still Burning" (which I still have on tape), where they had some clips of Ray shooting the video for this, down at the L.A. riverbed, where he also did his interview for it, sitting in a Jeep.
It's weird seeing Ray be athletic and goofing around. In that robe he looks like a new Star Wars carachter!
Master Manzarek
REST IN PIAACE PLACE! 11 years since he's death... I feel this video is him traveling about he's inner mind-world, fellow mother nature with him.
It's been a while since I listened to this album and had no idea this even existed
Interesting. I wonder what prompted him to make that.
His Doors keyboard playing will stay with me forever ❤
Thank god, someone had to post this full
Jessie Stahlman big agree on that, hope more live(?) ray content comes soon. I’m talking golden scarab tour BABEYYY!!

Ray Manzarek was an incredible talent! He was also extrodinarily inventive. My favorite rock keyboardist ever!

Oh, I think that The Doors would have been a great blues/rock band in the 70's, just like where they were heading. Not so sure about the 80's...
Behold, Ray Manzarek jogging monastically at age 44.
And having a dance party with a guy in a chicken suit!
Ray Manzarek on his way to Oliver Stone's house after The Doors film was released
It seems like a video about someone who is late for a swingers party

Thanks for everything Sir.
This would never be popular with young people, this is a very specialized and limited audience that would like this
Screw young people.
Genius
There used to be a heavy metal syinth band called Phyco vision ..that had a track with train samples in the 9os ..I could never find it on line
Maybe Therion? 🤔
That thumbnail .. reflects well how he had the most amazing blue eyes when I met him 30 years ago.
love this one a lot LOL
Needs jazz drumming
Thanks for sharing this, I was happy to see it. Love Manzarek's take on Carmina Burana. Nice cameo by his son at the end.
I feel this represents Ray's unresolved grief for the loss of jim.
Why so ?
2:10 Philip Glass?
Yes. And in 2:25 Michael Riesman and Kurt Munkacsi
And what about that footage of Philip Glass and Michael Riesman!
Que inusitado
