Damn Harada weren’t kidding when they mentioned this was animated with the aid of a Taido champion, her attacks feels the most realistic (excluding the electricity and stuff). You can see moves connecting to one another in natural momentum. Hands down of the best original tekken character in a very long time

A Heihachi Mishima main here, I am happy to see Reina Mishima in the game. Now that I've lost my boi, I'll gladly play her in his place. This feels like a character I can really enjoy outside of Feng, Paul and Kazuya. Hope she becomes my new Main

Heihachi main here, wasn’t even going to buy tekken 8 but I have to say Reina looks the most impressive so far and I am definitely hoping Heihachi returns because without him tekken is not the same he’s too iconic. However one thing that I love about Reina is she has the attitude and moves but they are not all identical just some and then uniqueness that gives me hope that they could bring Heihachi back and it wouldn’t affect anything.

They gave her the same sly look at the end that you see in the best character moments in Tekken. The look Hwo gives Steve during the t5 intro, the look that leaked me think of Kazuya. She feels like a perfect fit for Tekken 8. So impressed

Not sure if this was pointed out yet but her background music is obviously a remixed Kazuya theme, Emotionless Passion (the arranged version from the PS1), when I saw in the leak that one of the 3 newcomers was going to be a Mishima I figured I'd probably like them better than the other two newcomers, I hope though that she has better costumes because I'm not really digging how she looks, but her moveset is pretty cool, mostly because of the Mishima/Heihachi stuff in particular, but I'm glad she's martial arts based instead of...whatever the hell Victor is supposed to be.
Victor’s there for the Noctis mains who showed up late in T7’s life proving Noctis was high tier. He’s also there for me, someone who just really likes the idea of an old guy who can fight well.

The newcomers look great this time! Really clean designs while retaining personality. Sad how some people think they're generic just because they're not overdesigned, despite Tekken being rooted in simpler designs.
After the hot garbage that was Josie, Katarina and Lucky Chloe it's amazing to see Harada-san and the team operating at the top of their game again. Azucena, Victor and now Reina, they're three for three with all three of these new challengers.

In Reina's rage art you can see a demonic shadow with Heihachi's silhouette. Reina has been described as having a "dual nature", which could mean the presence of a dark entity within her. Heihachi, seeing the power of the Hachijo, tried to steal it or replicate it to use it to his advantage, so he captured Ogre, Kazuya and Jin and experimented on them. His experiments were a success. He obtained his own version of the Devil Gene loyal to the Mishima, believing it to be the only way to combat the Hachijo demons. After linking his bloodline with those powers, he had numerous children whom he indoctrinated to use as weapons against Kazuya and Jin in case he failed in the attempt, Reina being one of them. As additional information, Harada recently declared on Twitter that Heihachi has 9 confirmed children and it is suspected that he may hace between 18 and 25, which would confirm his intention to create a platoon of demons. Furthermore, according to Yoshimitsu's biography for Tekken 8, the Mishima were a clan of ancient exorcists, so Heihachi would have obtained the esoteric knowledge necessary to control those powers and link them to his descendants. Finally, it would be possible that Jinpachi had been an experiment by Heihachi in a first attempt to link a Mishima and a demon, but the symbiosis and control over the demon would not have gone well at all. Surely the new story arc of the next Tekken will revolve around the fight against the other possessed descendants of Heihachi. That's my theory.

The demon that possesses Kazuya splited in two. There was another demon that possessed Jinpachi, but it was not part of the Hachijo curse. She is perfect. Great character design, VA, really snappy taido + mishima combos with heavy hitting finishers, confident but slightly arrogant. Definitely new main for now.

Reviewing this...Reina is legit the main reason I still play Tekken 8 after the Eddy invasion & Battle pass (Lacks good Reina customization so I didn't consider)...I've made 4 costumes for her, including a dramatic demon reworked costume and I've only just begun to consider adding other characters to my character pool. Reina is the ONLY character I've played in Ranked thus far. Reina is insanely fun to play and can be made to look amazing her voice lines and voice itself is astounding my favorite character in Tekken thus far this includes my brief stint in Tekken 6.
I hope the writers do something good with her story. I don't want her to be the Captain Marvel of Tekken where she shows up out of nowhere at the last minute to be the bestest evar with no build-up.
4:39 Electric Wind Goth GF is so good, holy shit I just wanna know why she has four electric colors. She has gold and purple as her basic, but on certain moves she gets red and blue. Weird

My only issue design-wise is that she could be more buffed or muscular. Mishima-style karate and especially the inherited Heihachi moves are very power-heavy, it is kinda weird seeing a thin girl pulling these off on Jin and Kazuya so effortlessly.

BLOODY ROAR was AMAZING!! Probably my first 3D fighting game and it was so damn cool. It had transformations AND supers and felt so ahead of it's time, I wish it somehow comes back.

The way she looks at the end and the "Know your place, I'm way out of your league" plus the heihachi's hair/sight in the dark makes me think its Heihachi that transfered his mind into her body. Like she is just a random female their company took for an experiment because somehow heihachi's body were about to expire.
No way Heihachi is saying "Jin-Senpai", even in a mocking tone. Though it's not unheard of (M. Bison), it makes more sense to me that it would be from Heihachi messing with genetic experiments. Both Kazuya and Heihachi seemed to do this a lot, trying to create a super soldier. It's possible she's a test tube child that Heihachi created to be a pure Mishima. Then again, Harada did say Heihachi had over 20 children and confirmed at least 9 back in 2011. Regardless, the story mode has some explaining to do lol

There is a lot of Heihachi and Lidia references in her moves, but they aren't direct copies. Also, she's using Taido karate, which is pretty modern. She's at the top of my list for being a unique Mishima that still manages to have a brutal fighting style.

I guess that is why I did not recognise her moves, Shotokan (pretty sure I spelt that wrong) was the version I practiced , Lidia does not use that though does she? I guess Shotokan (and multiple others) shares a lot of moves though. I need to look into Taido though , going by this trailer, very curious to see what it is really like
@vista1456786 Yeah, Taido is a fairly new version of karate that focuses on gouges and tears (hence her knife hand posture). Lidia uses the most standard form, as you did. I think it's pretty much tailored for competition with some to traditional karate, but I am definitely don't know a ton about different karate style. Reina was actually advised by a 4-time Taido Karate champion and they wanted to incorporate brutal movements from it.
I also made the Bloody Roar connection with the stomp into barrage attack she did lol I'm honestly surprised they made an actual BADASS female character. I never play female characters but I just might main her
The combination of Taido and Mishima Ryu fighting style suits her really well kinda reminds me the introduction of Shotokan karate with Lidia Sobieska 👍.

Visually, they're designed by the same person, but considering they listed Katarina I doubt they're complaining about visuals. Sept is probably whining about gameplay.
In Reina's rage art you can see a demonic shadow with Heihachi's silhouette.
Reina has been described as having a "dual nature", which could mean the presence of a dark entity within her.
Heihachi, seeing the power of the Hachijo, tried to steal it or replicate it to use it to his advantage, so he captured Ogre, Kazuya and Jin and experimented on them.
His experiments were a success. He obtained his own version of the Devil Gene loyal to the Mishima, believing it to be the only way to combat the Hachijo demons. After linking his bloodline with those powers, he had numerous children whom he indoctrinated to use as weapons against Kazuya and Jin in case he failed in the attempt, Reina being one of them.
As additional information, Harada recently declared on Twitter that Heihachi has 9 confirmed children and it is suspected that he may hace between 18 and 25, which would confirm his intention to create a platoon of demons.
Furthermore, according to Yoshimitsu's biography for Tekken 8, the Mishima were a clan of ancient exorcists, so Heihachi would have obtained the esoteric knowledge necessary to control those powers and link them to his descendants.
Finally, it would be possible that Jinpachi had been an experiment by Heihachi in a first attempt to link a Mishima and a demon, but the symbiosis and control over the demon would not have gone well at all.
Surely the new story arc of the next Tekken will revolve around the fight against the other possessed descendants of Heihachi.
That's my theory.

Tekken has always been convoluted and repetitive, it is literally a saga of 7 games about how father and son have tried to kill each other over and over again for twenty years, because the grandmother, who belonged to a clan of assassins who made pacts with demons, tried kill the grandfather. The demon that possesses Kazuya splited in two. There was another demon that possessed Jinpachi, but it was not part of the Hachijo curse. Jin provokes World War III to awaken an Egyptian demon that is supposed to be the source of his curse...

She is perfect. Great character design, VA, really snappy taido + mishima combos with heavy hitting finishers, confident but slightly arrogant. Definitely new main for now.

One thing Ive noticed about T8 is how stance heavy everyone is. Most stances got buffed and can compete with neutral. Like Lars and Raven.

Reviewing this...Reina is legit the main reason I still play Tekken 8 after the Eddy invasion & Battle pass (Lacks good Reina customization so I didn't consider)...I've made 4 costumes for her, including a dramatic demon reworked costume and I've only just begun to consider adding other characters to my character pool. Reina is the ONLY character I've played in Ranked thus far.
Reina is insanely fun to play and can be made to look amazing her voice lines and voice itself is astounding my favorite character in Tekken thus far this includes my brief stint in Tekken 6.
I hope the writers do something good with her story. I don't want her to be the Captain Marvel of Tekken where she shows up out of nowhere at the last minute to be the bestest evar with no build-up.

Absolute top tier everything. Design, personality, fighting style, rage art. Everthing is PEAK. Namcocks did it right this time.
My only issue design-wise is that she could be more buffed or muscular. Mishima-style karate and especially the inherited Heihachi moves are very power-heavy, it is kinda weird seeing a thin girl pulling these off on Jin and Kazuya so effortlessly.

Taido can be seen as a sort of mix of karate and capoeira (not exactly like that of course)

No way Heihachi is saying "Jin-Senpai", even in a mocking tone. Though it's not unheard of (M. Bison), it makes more sense to me that it would be from Heihachi messing with genetic experiments. Both Kazuya and Heihachi seemed to do this a lot, trying to create a super soldier.
It's possible she's a test tube child that Heihachi created to be a pure Mishima. Then again, Harada did say Heihachi had over 20 children and confirmed at least 9 back in 2011.

I do like her , i didn't see too many Heihachi or Kazumi references though (only caught EWGF which was interesting did that signal she has pewgf too , tgf and hell sweep i think). So far I think I prefer Hei, Kazumi and Lidia as another Karate representative but I need to.see her full moves list. Like on the design too. Love the trailer theme. Here hair is interesting though, we have never seen a female Mishima of actual blood, would have thought her hair would be mor e spikey ..... if heihachi did have a relation ship with her I wonder what he threw her off?
There is a lot of Heihachi and Lidia references in her moves, but they aren't direct copies. Also, she's using Taido karate, which is pretty modern. She's at the top of my list for being a unique Mishima that still manages to have a brutal fighting style.
I need to watch it again, Taido you say? I guess that is why I did not recognise her moves, Shotokan (pretty sure I spelt that wrong) was the version I practiced , Lidia does not use that though does she? I guess Shotokan (and multiple others) shares a lot of moves though. I need to look into Taido though , going by this trailer, very curious to see what it is really like
@vista1456786 Yeah, Taido is a fairly new version of karate that focuses on gouges and tears (hence her knife hand posture). Lidia uses the most standard form, as you did. I think it's pretty much tailored for competition with some to traditional karate, but I am definitely don't know a ton about different karate style.
Reina was actually advised by a 4-time Taido Karate champion and they wanted to incorporate brutal movements from it.
