Never heard of this guy before, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. 8ft tall, blimey, definitely a giant! A shame he died at such a young age, but he goes down as one to remember in the history books!

Well covered on this story the original BFG. I imagine he was a wonderful site to see walking down the street passing kids through windows and light a cigarette on a gas lamp. Finally well to those that still maintain where he rests.
I'd have loved to have met him close up in person. Watching him light his ciggie using the old lamps 😅

Such an interesting story indeed. One could imagine people being astounded at his height while working in the circus. So sad that his dad died at a young age and that his mother really must have suffered while trying to bring up her children. Thanks for interesting documentary 😊

Thanks Ste. We try to find a mix of stories just to keep the channel that little bit more interesting. I personally love the Victorian/early part of the 20th century more interesting. Vickie on the other hand likes modern crime, unsolved crime and things like that. But we also both love paranormal and the unexplained so it kinda works 😅
A great video learning about ayoung man who lost his life at an early age. He did seem a gentle giant in your story of him. That grave is enormously long but obviously had to be to takehis remains. Sad story but interesting to learn these things. Thanks verymuch for sharing xx
Thank you Gaynor. He lived a very short life but one full of excitement, drama, sorrow and much more. I think he probably experienced more in his life than many of us will do in our longer life times.

We just look at the old newspaper archives and ancestry etc before going out filming these stories. We will get things wrong from time to time, but we try our best to be as accurate as possible 😅
It’s sad that people like Frederick and (my apologies, I can’t bring to mind his name) the Elephant Man always seem to die young. Just remembered I think his name was Edward Merrick.

Have you done the White Lady of Darwen Cemetery?? She apparently murdered 4 teenage campers (i think) because they touched her....
But the grave isnt a bad lady, i do t tbink.... I think she did good for the local community.

Which White Lady? I only know of the one who was a suffragist and has a massive memorial of her that was remade by a stone mason in 2010. Not sure that's the same one though 🤔
