Thank you so much, this video was so helpful! We have a Down syndrome son who is 9 and we like to hike and camp. We have been limited. Our son was watching your video and asked if he could have a new buggy for Christmas.😊
Thank you! Thank You!! THANK YOU!!! for sharing! First of all your little girl is adorable! I am blessed to have a 9 year old with Cerebral Palsy who doesn't walk. I have a recumbent trike with e-assist and have had a bear of time finding anything that would allow me to take my buddy out on my rides with me and this is perfect! Thanks again.
Rick, thank you so much for the thorough demonstration of this trailer for Special needs. I have looked at so many other products and finally found this trailer on the web yesterday. I am going to purchase it for a 55 year old lady w/Down Syndrome whom would love to go for a bike ride with me. She is about the size of your daughter, but weighs 103 lbs. The cost has gone up considerably though as the large is now $1,099 and XL is $1,299. Have a great day!

We got ours yesterday and, after watching your video, set up took maybe 5 min and hooking it to my bike took maybe 10! You were right, so easy! We went in a ride and I was SO surprised at how easily I was able to tow it. I paid full price and, even after one ride I could tell it was worth every penny. Thank you again for the great video and recommendation. Ps. I ordered the jogging and regular stroller attachments and the travel bag!
Thanks for sharing, that looks like a nice trailer. We might get one for grandma since she doesn't bike. We have a trike that I was hoping she'll get on, but it's been just years collecting dust. We will get rid of the trike soon. Subscribed! Looking forward to seeing more videos of camping. Thank you.
Thanks for this review. I am contemplating buying one for my special needs daughter and your video has pushed me over the edge to go forward with it. Cheers!
Great review - appreciate the attention to details. I think one of these are in our future. I have an 8 year old that just started walking a year ago and I would love to take him bike riding, but the trailer we had from Burley is a 2 kid and the height is a problem and the harness is more geared for a 2-3 year old .
This is just what I needed for my big kid. Cause he can't ride his own bike. But clicked on the link and this child trailer is $1199? Wtf. Why on earth they charge for much for some aluminum frames and fabric walls. Smh. I was expecting like $199 would be a great deal. But ain't gonna pay $1199. Jesus. These companies are scams. $50 in materials and try to sell for $1199. Lol. Wal mart have some child trailer but those are for like babies. Guess have to keep looking again.
This won’t help much, but that's the price for Canadiens. In US dollars it's 959.20 It was less, but the US dollar is not worth as much thanks to our current government. This trailer would also last a very long time. If your child has a chance of outgrowing this I wouldn't invest the money.
Thanks, for the review. I didn't find this video until after I already bought it so I was relieved your experience was positive. Ours is still in transit so I still don't have the trailer yet. I am a little nervous because my son is more physically disabled then your daughter and I am hoping the lateral supports and wedge recline positioners will be sufficient for his needs. Plus I will have to figure out how to rig some memory foam on the back of the seat because he is prone to pressure sores on his lower back where he has two spinal surgery scars overlapping each other.
I hope you find something for his back. Try to not fill the wheels all the way, it will give a smoother ride for him but it might pull a bit harder. I made a 2nd video of the trailer being pulled on my e-bike, that worked out great.
Rick, thank you for making this video. We have a boy with Downs and we want to do exactly what you are doing. I am a little concerned with the weight limit, but I need to do some verifying to see if we can use this trailer. I am hoping so. I am also wondering if it would be better to straighten what is there because I am not finding anything else out there either. I have contacted WIKE about the weight limit but have not heard anything back yet. Thank you again.
Great video, Thank you for taking the time to make it. My son is about to turn 6and is out growing most of the regular trailers. I am looking for something just like this but with some type of suspension. The sidewalks in my area are horrible. Do you know if they make a trailer this size with suspension. Thanks
Thanks for watching. I have never seen one with suspension, but you could let a bit of air out of the wheels to make it a bit softer. If you find something, please let me know.
@@Ricks_Tech_Talk I was looking that the Burley D’lite X with suspension. Burley also sells wider wheels 16x3 for sand, gravel and off road support. The only concern that I have is that my son is 5 1/2 and will probably only fit into it for about another year or so. It fits my needs for now but not long term.

@@Ricks_Tech_Talk I was going to buy their suspension double stroller for use with my two younger ones but can’t find much information about them and stumbled across your review. Although we’d be buying different models, are you happy with the quality of the one you do have?
The quality is excellent. I had a hard time finding one to fit my daughter. The unit is a bit hard to transport but if they made it smaller then my daughter wouldn't fit lol so not much you can do about that. This unit is targeted towards larger kids and special needs but no reason you can't use it for any other child. I do have the storage bag for it now and that makes it much easier to transport the unit. If you buy one let me know what you think of it.
Thanks for the video! I'm also considering this (or XLarge) for my special needs son. Can I ask you for a favor? What is the max size (thickness) of the rear axle for the hitch? Is it possible you could measure it or see if it is printed on a manual or such? I didn't find the info on Wike site and they haven't answered my email. I'd like to know if the hitch fits 12mm axle of an ebike we are also considering to purchase.
Sure, I just pulled it out a few days ago for a ride. You want to know the thickness of the bracket right? Just so you know they make bolt extenders incase the bike does not have enough length to hold the bracket. I have the lectric ebike and it fit great. For thickness it's about 5mm. If that's not the info you needed let me know. This replaces your wheel nut and gives you a extension to bolt on the bracket. www.rei.com/product/145141/burley-hitch-adapter?CAWELAID=120217890005288674&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=107744800704&CATCI=pla-555212332703&cm_mmc=PLA_Google%7C21700000001700551_1451410002%7C92700053575966047%7CTOF%7C71700000066691934&gclid=Cj0KCQiAv6yCBhCLARIsABqJTjaVNHPb5t6wkX7N46I7Hhssgyx6iOT19m8jZd0yBbcvcVXEu6L85SgaAkqtEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
@@Ricks_Tech_Talk Hi, thanks for the answer. That's actually also important measure! Actually I was looking for the diameter of the hole in the hitch. The hole where the axle/bolt goes thru. Trying to gets the terms right this time :) Luckily there seems to be more and more options for custom axles for thru-axle models nowadays.
That would be a bit harder for me to check, I would have to remove them. But my bikes are 4" fat tires and the bracket for the trailer just fit. But I found this for my ebike not sure if this helps (175mm Hub Spacing, 12mm Slotted Threaded Axle with 10mm Flats, 18mm Nuts) You could make the hole larger if the bracket doesn't fit. But be carful if you try that yourself
@@Ricks_Tech_Talk Ah, okay. Of course. But I think that if it fits your fatbike I should have no issues on MTB ebike. 12mm axle is very common in those too. Thanks again!
Thanks. We did have a trike for her, but it was really hard to transport it around. Then she tipped it over and wouldn't get back on it. After I made this video I bought an ebike to help pull her, it's a blast :) thanks for watching
I bothe wike permium bike trailler is good trailler but break is not work at all and they stick by sewing machine is not good lot of problems on fabrik.
If it's new, I would email them with photos. The brakes could be better, but mines does work. The fabric and stitching is great on mine, maybe they got a new person on the line. I hope they can help you out.
The current designs for child carriers are simply not safe. The rear tow trailers are very vulnerable to being hit from behind and offer zero protection to kids. At the very least impact absorbing materials and roll cages should be compulsory for child carrying trailers.
That would be nice, but a roll cage would make it too heavy for a bike to pull. Personally, I just stay off the roads. Here in MN we have tons of trails that are paved.

But I found this for my ebike not sure if this helps (175mm Hub Spacing, 12mm Slotted Threaded Axle with 10mm Flats, 18mm Nuts)
You could make the hole larger if the bracket doesn't fit. But be carful if you try that yourself
@@Ricks_Tech_Talk Ah, okay. Of course. But I think that if it fits your fatbike I should have no issues on MTB ebike. 12mm axle is very common in those too. Thanks again!
very cool. Instead of a bike to pull that you need a trike
Thanks. We did have a trike for her, but it was really hard to transport it around. Then she tipped it over and wouldn't get back on it. After I made this video I bought an ebike to help pull her, it's a blast :) thanks for watching
tie a cotton rope in the bottom or tie a paracord in the bottom and the trailer will hold more weight.
That's a nice looking trailer, now you need an ebike
@@Ricks_Tech_Talk i think a basic steel tubular roll cage could be made within weight range. difficult but doable
All you need is to get your self a E bike.
