    Oh man that death moan is blood chilling! No one told me about it in 1991 when I bow-killed my first and only bear. Every time I look at the rug I had made of him I can hear that moan! It was the most memorable hunt I ever had to this day!

    I got my first bear a couple days ago. Northern MN. First day I was set up straight down wind of bait. I saw a bear circle the down wind side of the bait and I was inside of it's circle and it busted me, I know you talk about it but it was cool to see with your own eyes, it drives it home more. Also makes you up your game. The second day the wind shifted from north to south. I wasn't going to hunt that stand with that wind but the bait had the bears, so I refreshed the bait and moved my stand. But instead of straight downwind of the bait, I went with the off wind and it played out just how I drew it up. This bear didn't circle that I know of but it came in straight down wind of the bait so eventually if I was downwind, which you might think is good, it wouldn't have worked because I also would have been in the bait smell and it easily would have smelled me. I think my stand was on the only place it could have been. It paid off using beast tactics and moving the stand accordingly. Thanks Dan and crew! Happy hunter!

    Re watching this for the third time. Mn bear baiting with opener a week out. Not the best results with baiting so far, weird year we've had acorns dropping for weeks already, not many oaks around but there's a few pockets, I wonder if that's affecting the baiting so far. I could move my baits but i think im going to see how it goes for a while

    Awesome informative video. I like that wind tip for sure, makes perfect sense. The scent tips are spot on. I useta get expired Hostess cakes, pies we always had 🐻. Now 🇨🇦 doesn't allow 🇺🇸 to bring bait anymore. You haveta buy it up there. The bait they sold us was off the team. I told my friend it seemed like bread crumbs. The baits didn't get hit like with the Hostess treats. 👍🏻🐻💯🇺🇸

    I don't think I'd ever be able to hunt a bear. I don't hold any kind of ill will for any who do, but there's something I can't put my finger on for why it doesn't feel right to me.
    Same deal for fox and crow.
    Anything else in my area I have zero problems targeting and nothing is off the list if it's actively damaging my property or threatening me.
    That being said, this is more great content and is interesting to me despite not participating in it myself. Keep it up!

      @@thehuntingbeast I got this bear that lays close to the bait like you said probably about 100 yds away guarding it. You said its normal for him to hear you coming in and restocking his bait but I'm also hearing that you are spooking him by doing that. I notice that every time I restock his bait he goes nocturnal and then goes back to daylight as other bears try to eat his bait. He is always there and I feel like I'm going to bump into him no matter that time of the day I go in there. What do you suggest? I am following the 10 gallon limit I cannot do anymore than that so I have to restock the bait twice a week

      Figure out the pattern of how long after you bait that he comes in... If its 1 day after you bait, bait the day before you hunt, if its two days, bait todays before you hunt, etc. Then sneak in and hunt

    The difference between buck and doe beds. That's a pretty big thing. Think you could go more in depth on that. And break down more differences between Buck and doe signs in general. I get it. But I think it would be worth going into more detail, for the general audience. Just a thought.

      Are you crazy? There'd be no bears left. Our woods are wide open enough to not justify bait. Where he hunts, and Maine and Canada the woods are so thick you couldn't possibly kill a bear without bait

      Agreed. However where I bear hunt in Pa is like Dans! it’s so thick you can’t get thru it. The bears killed in my area are on small ag land surrounded by thick mountain Laurel with Swappy wet marsh creek bottom’s or close to camps where guess what? They bait them all year long anyway!! In other areas I agree! .. the in-line /rifle Sr/Jr early season hunt is/was more harmful then Baiting which is done my most anyway, 80 percent of the year or more in some cases…

    • @evansmith8661
      @evansmith8661 4 місяці тому

      If you limited it to bow only or had some major stipulations on it, it would probably still be way less bears than the entire inline, archery and rifle seasons.
