How fitting for Dave to get that big buck! Very cool. I had a good hunting buddy that died of cancer about 10 years ago, brought back a lot of memories! Great tribute to your friend. Loved it.

Watching the last chapter. I can relate my best friend Dave and I were like brother's for 42 year's when he passed. He had a place by Milston. Hunting Fishing did most everything together. His brother has cabin now so now he's like my new brother. Still go to his stand and sit.
RIP Dave, great video Dan! You can see your emotion when you were talking about the plaque you made for him. And we all can feel that. ♥️

I know you may not be a hockey fan but this makes me think of some of the best players in the sport are the ones who pride their game on their ability to setup plays that lead to goals. Assist kings. Dave was one of those. He loved to set you up for a goal, get you the puck, and watch it play out. Great video, Dan. This is a nice homage to your friend.

I had a 1.5 yo fork horn in my land by my house show up late summer. Then in October(gun season in SC) 1 front leg was swinging around like it was on a string. All on cam
Didn’t see him again till the next summer, skinny, leg all curled up with him partially walking on it.
By hunting season he was walking fairly normal and had a goofy rack.
Survived again and year 3 his rack was moderately normal and walks fine.
Dave was very lucky to have such a close friend.

If I had two tags or one i would take a chance the meat would be salvageable and take the buck. Especially if i needed to fill my freezer. I might even tag it and take it to the neighbors to see if maybe a young hunter had previously shot the buck, maybe have the chance to educate them on the advantages of a quick humane kill or even demonstrate how important a good follow up on tracking and determining a ethical decision to contact other land owners to follow up on their potential harvest/concern for the bucks fate.
I feel for you bud I lost my hunting spot my buddies farm pasted just before this passed season now his daughter's sold it , it was so hard taking all the stands this spring.
Well done, hopefully the need property owner takes notes on this video including the idea of the tribute

The hunt for me doesn't stop just because I tagged out. I spent many days in a tree with out a bow or a gun an still call it hunting

Hey does deer. When they scrape does there always have to be an overhanging limb? There is this lil spice bush that comes up to there mouth and they been scraping around it does and bucks . Just wondering.
I have seen some without O/H Limbs
