1. Yay!! Congratulations, that is so huge. I’m so so happy for you! Ray looks like such a sweetheart. What a great horse to have this experience with, and how kind of his people to offer. 2. I wouldn’t be a proper horseperson if I didn’t butt in with some unsolicited advice. Next time, try shortening your left stirrup to match the right. As it is now, your hips are being pulled out of alignment which will make everything else achy and sore, especially if you go for a longer ride. It will be easier on your body overall (and probably your horse too) to just match the shorter side :)
My grandmother actually became a quadriplegic from falling off a horse, but I'm so grateful that my parents understood it was an accident, and didn't stop me from riding as a kid. I took lessons for a few years (until it got too expensive) and now as an adult I go to an Adaptive Riding program for disabled riders, and even though it makes me so sore, I love it so much.
Congratulations -- and never mind the lack of photos, videos, etc. You were in the midst of the experience, and I expect communing with Ray -- who probably has no idea of what social media is, and really doesn't care.
Good job! I got to be the horse owner for a situation similar to this. My brothers sister in law lost a leg in a motorcycle wreck years ago and riding a horse was on her bucket list but she thought it would never happen because of her leg, but I had one that was trained for side saddle so he was used to getting leg cues only from the left and it was her right leg that was gone. She absolutely loved her ride and he took great care of her. I was so glad to be able to help her check that off of her bucket list.
Oh girl it's so cute how your sorry for not having a lot matirial of that day. But seriously: You're a human being first and someone with a job second. This ride was for you and mainly you, not for us! I think it's totaly fine that you mainly enjoyed yourself on that day! It's so lovely to hear that it made you happy and that's evrything we need to know about it. ^^
Jo in all the videos of yours that I’ve seen, I have never seen you look so absolutely, breathtakingly happy! You have been happy, but not so ecstatic. I hope you can continue with your equine adventures. It brings you such pleasure.
You getting back on a horse and riding it is so inspiring. Even though the it was not the horses fault for your ankle shattering, it can be a traumatic experience to fall off a horse. Im literally so happy for you that you got back on one!!! It makes me want to attempt to get back on a horse. I rode a horse once and got thrown off at a young age. Ive been afraid of them since but maybe I should give it another chance :)
So did you? If you ever do that, take your time, get to know the horse very well so you know it is safe for you. And do it with a trainer, who understands your fear. I can tell you, horse riding actually is great! ;)
You literally and figuratively "got back on the horse"!! That's SO AWESOME!! I can imagine some fear would be involved for sure - but I'm so glad you were just HAPPY and enjoyed it!! Yay you!!! ❤️❤️❤️ 🙌🏽
Jo, I to am a horse lover and I rode as much as I could as a teen. I haven’t been on a horse since I was 20. I have hip replacements in both hips. With the ever present pain and stiffness in my hips I haven’t tried to ride in many years. This video has awakened the desire to find out if I can get on a horse let alone attempt to ride. Thank you for that.
You are so strong! It’s beautiful that you didn’t blame horses and you still find them magnificent creatures. This is so awesome! (From your accident, I now know not to go galloping across an open field with my horse lol)
Watching you ride literally brought tears of happiness to my eyes! These moments are why I follow you. I will be smiling for the rest of the day. I have no doubt you did too. Thank you for sharing this!

A horse crushed my foot over a year ago. I was cleaning her hooves and inadvertently released her hoof as I was getting my footing and my left foot was in the "right" spot :/ I've been on crutches for almost a year now. Healing without surgery. Sprained my ankle several months ago on top of that. It was a lisfranc crush injury as well as crushed nerves. Bones were apparently broken but I "walked it off" for the first two months and then got x rays. The bones healed fine. This may be a lifelong journey on crutches as I have no medical and can't afford surgery (if that's what is needed). Maybe I'll give others hope that it's possible to heal from this type of injury naturally. Love your videos and your attitude :) Love the Crutch accessories. I got the blue ones as well as crutch bags. Love those! And Thomas Fetterman tips and ice cleats. Ordered WAGS yoga/Pilates gloves with the wrist wrap because I've sustained injury to my wrist bones somehow. I like to goof off and since my upper body is so strong and I'm not as young as I used to be... oh well. Lol!
@@FootlessJo but its better for the horse to use any kind of block or anything. If you put pressure on one side of a horse as you do when you get up like this, you pull their complete spine around. They have to put a lot of effort in holding against this pressure. It's not a question of you not being able to get up without it, it's actually a horse health thing...
I was already so excited about your journey. I smiled so big to see you on a horse. I heard the name and it sounded familiar. But then when you popped up her picture I cried. I've been watching her on tiktok and she just seems like such a nice funny wonderful person to be around. Don't you just love it when first impressions turn out to be great. Congrats Joe.
Brilliant jo well done keep smashing it!! I'm due to have fusion in my left ankle as I have a rare bone tumour in my talus. I've been watching you for Around 2 years now !! 🥰
A beautiful video. You are absolutely beaming both in the live video and riding. An absolute joy to watch. I can totally relate, as I had bike accident where I was hit by a car when the driver did something stupid and predictable. I relived the accident in my mind trying to figure out what I could have done differently and the answer was nothing. As a result of the accident, I was off my bike for about six months while I recovered and then was fearful of getting back on. Eventually, I rode again in a safe controlled environment away from cars. It took a long time for my confidence to return and I still hae some fears, but much better over time. Kudos to you for enthusiastically getting back on a horse.
@@FootlessJo ok, I prefer English over Western, but many people prefer Western over English because you have something to hold on to, and the saddle is bigger.
There are some other non-Western saddle options, depending on what you want to do. Dressage and endurance saddles have a little more real estate than a hunter saddle. I switched from hunter/jumper to dressage when I was getting too anxious to go over even small jumps. Any of the riding disciplines are awesome. I could work on dressage skills for the rest of my days and still be working on a decent collected trot. 😄🐎💕
I had an above knee amputation in Sept.22..I will ride a horse again soon as I heal n able to..watching your video has given me confidence n Knowing everything is going to be alright.. thankyou
Hi Jo, I’ve been watching your videos for quite some time now and I wanted to tell you that you’re a HUGE inspiration to me 😄! I plan on getting my left leg (below the knee) amputated after COVID is done! I’m so excited and I’ve done tons of research if it’s the right choice for me. I’ve lived with a birth defect my whole life called Clubfoot and I’ve been in doubt my whole life always being negative, I’m always upset I can’t run with my little brothers or doing anything physical because my foots nerves were so easy to be triggered causing Pain in my foot, it hurts too much and I’m getting ready to make that decision soon! Just wanted to say thank you for keeping me happy and excited for my new Journey to come!!!! Stay Healthy and Stay Awesome ♥️😎😄
Lol after he said it I 100% said "go bills!" To an empty room...what a weird reflex I've developed from growing up in Buffalo 😂 I get so excited when I see Bills attire where I live rn (no longer in the state) and I have yelled "you from buffalo?!" To many a stranger on the street 😂

I've been watching her on tiktok and she just seems like such a nice funny wonderful person to be around. Don't you just love it when first impressions turn out to be great. Congrats Joe.
Wow that’s so amazing 🤩 I know how hard it is getting back on a horse after a bad accident but it’s the best feelings When you do it 😊
Wow seeing you so happy to ride a horse just looks so incredible and just that smile says it all 😃😍😊😉
Brilliant jo well done keep smashing it!! I'm due to have fusion in my left ankle as I have a rare bone tumour in my talus. I've been watching you for Around 2 years now !! 🥰
I so admire you! You're a blessing to so many.
I’m so proud of you!!!! What an amazing accomplishment. So very cool!!!! 🦄🦄🦄
Footless Jo, I’m glad you got on the saddle and rode again. This reminds me of the Aerosmith song, “Back in the Saddle”.
Im so so happy for you. I love horses, they have gotten me through so much. Sending love ♥️♥️♥️. Would you ever consider doing English again?
Oh absolutely! I'd consider any kind of riding haha! 😊
Omg Joe you look so incredibly happy. I'm pleased you " got back on the horse " :)
I had an above knee amputation in Sept.22..I will ride a horse again soon as I heal n able to..watching your video has given me confidence n Knowing everything is going to be alright.. thankyou
YAY YOU and Ray for being a sweetheart!!
Jo we are in tears you literally got back on that horse 🐎 😭
You got me I am in tears
Your hubby (during coffee making) is a goofball, I love that.
This video is beautiful, Jo. You are so inspiring to me.
Thank you SO much Catie!!!

So happy for you Jo
Thank you so much Johanna!!!
Lol, thanks Brian for the Bills shout out. We Buffaloneans appreciate the support.
Lol after he said it I 100% said "go bills!" To an empty room...what a weird reflex I've developed from growing up in Buffalo 😂
I get so excited when I see Bills attire where I live rn (no longer in the state) and I have yelled "you from buffalo?!" To many a stranger on the street 😂
@@ARH662 During football season it is customary to end every conversation with "Go Bills" so I did the same thing, lol
I’m so happy for you for getting back on a horse
This makes me so happy for you!!🤗🤗💜💜💜
