Thank you for the valuable info you shared!
My problem with deer was finally solved when I bought the Sonic Fortress Pro from Zero Deer. Awesome product and sincere recommendations for whoever is dealing with deer!
Good information and you had me as soon as I saw the North Carolina shirt. 🌸
Love the water bottle idea! I'm doing that next.
I like your ideas about making windmills out of plastic bottles. I am going make me some.
I’m a gardener in South Carolina too! The cayenne pepper is definitely a good deterrent! Thank you so much for sharing your tips! New subbie here! Blessings! 😊🌱❤️
My husband uses blank cd's to hang near the Arborvitae Bushes as they are growing to keep the deer away! They spin away and reflect the light!
LOVE THIS
Those are great tips, thanks for sharing. Take care and have a blessed Easter weekend.
Thanks! I hope you have a wonderful week!!
Totally awsome ideas. Love it..thanks for the share..perfect 👌 Rock on my friend with your awsome videos..Have a great day..Eva
Thanks!
Oh my goodness duck eggs are so good for u!! 😂 thanks for the repellent, need it to keep the tiny deers out
I tried it and it works. No deer or rabbits came around no more but ... considering my yard is small we dont even want to be around due to the smell so we had to stop the eggs. But the bottles still stand so far so good . Thank you
I use to live in the upstate and now I am in the Midlands. Deer are a nuisance all over the state no matter where you live. So frustrating! Last night, 8 kid you not, they came through and wiped out all of my banana, Serrano, jalapeno, and bell pepper plants. Every last one! So disheartening to walk out to the garden to find that! So discouraging, I had to come watch gardening videos! And obviously look for deer deterrents so I don't have this problem next year. Was going to pull the plants and start fall crops but when you said they love brassicas- I was like, "Great, that's what I was planning to put in for fall in the next few weeks!" I am going to try this method though and keep my fingers crossed!
Deer are persistent. It is truly heartbreaking when they eat everything down. I really hope this helps your garden. I'm so sorry that they ate everything!
Good information! Thank you.
Thank you!
Awesome tips!!!! 💕
Thank you!!
Put sriracha in a bottle with water and spray it all over the plants
I've heard Sriracha is in short supply now. My grandson loves this stuff.
Brilliant
We have a little over 4 acres surrounded by woods. Plus all the State land and hunting clubs mixed around. Years back I moved our garden from the back yard to the front yard. That kept the deer from eating our winter squash blossoms. That was our biggest problem. All the other gardens are raised beds in the front yard too. We have rabbits around all summer, but the English Springer watches for them lol. The other dog, she is fast! She gets chipmunks, red squirrels, and sometimes she will dig up a mole lol. Very organic! Loved your video, good info! Happy Easter and take care!.
Thank you! I wish my dog helped with pests, but she ignores them. I hope you had a wonderful week!!
I do have rabbits.. thank you for the great tips 😀 😊 L🤗🙌🏿🌍
It's easy to make, and works so well. I hope it stops the bunnies from getting to your garden
Great tips I have ant 🐜 hills gonna try that boiling water trick thanks so much new friend found you from frog foot hollers page.
The boiling water really works. I always use it on my anthills. Thanks for coming over. Frog foot hollar is a great channel! I subbed to you too!
@@TheBigBlueHouseHomestead awe thanks hun 😘
Cool tricks! I never thought of little wind mill thing to keep rabbits away, cause we have several that get into our yard. At least I can use their poo! Lol! Happy Easter, Sara!💖🐇🌷
It scares them away, and it's easy to make. I hope you have a wonderful Easter!
The little windmills definitely work. Just have to have a few all over the place. One next to each plant pretty much
Great Information. LoL. I was about to say dowel rod, then you said it.
I was trying to just use a stick, because i couldn't find my dowels rods. Just short ones.
Great tips
Thanks!
I have kind of a dumb question. Would any kind of spinner work or does it need to be clear. Would wind chimes work? I just found the channel love it! Keep up the good work! Thanks for teaching us all the things our mommas didnt.
Any spinner should work. As long as there is sudden movements, the rabbits will be startled. I don't know about wind chimes. I've used pie plates in the past, and that worked for deer. Maybe wind chimes will too.
Would this work for groundhogs? That’s the problem I keep having here in Ohio! We’re just adding some cheap pinwheels do the trick for scaring them away?
Will a kid's wind mill work and does it keep the ground hogs away?
I use this with a knapsack sprayer on my wheat. They don't like it. If you don't have eggs try fish hydroslate. It's very good for the plants and these "pests" loathe the smell
my problem (besides the deer) is with any of these my dogs will be out digging looking for it lol
Thx for the valued tips. Will use! Many YTbers talk about deer and vegetable gardens. I only have ornamental/plant flower beds. I was warned that deer eat Hosta and Coleus. I’ve invested heavily in those plants. Generally, I don’t have deer but saw a young buck a couple weeks ago. No deer sightings since then. Is my garden now at risK of occasional deer visits? Will one deer “tell” others? Nervous in Atlanta suburbs :-(
Deer will eat your hostas. Be careful about that. Deer usually stick to the same travel paths. Sometimes the younger ones will wander off. You might have more show up. I really hope they stay away form those beautiful plants. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. 😀
Try a California Reaper or maybe a Scotch Bonnet in that, trust me they will never come back ever......assuming they survive.
Row covers on your brassicas should work also
Egg allergy here . . I'm intrigued even still 👀 might test this I'll be back if I do 🤙 thanks for sharing your methods!
You could probably make it without eggs. You just want something to mask the smell of the plants.
This is late, but if it's the sulfuring component of the smell that drives them away, I wonder if himalayan black salt/kala namak would work mixed with the water and cayenne and something else to ferment it a bit? the salt is heavily sulfuric and eggy so it might work...who knows tho, and wouldn't want to go overboard with it since it is still salt
Thanks because I was about to go Elmer Fudd on Bugs, Velveteen, & Bambi.
🙏🏾 🌱💚
Spinach, Red Kale, Broccoli, Cabbage, Lettuce Tomatoes in one night.
Dryer sheets help out too! The more human smells, or stinky smells, the better. Sorry to hear about the plants. I've had that happen too
Me too and I am not a fan of hunting lol. But my garden is my baby and when I come out and see that the deer had their way with them, I feel murderous! Do you spray it directly on the plants or create a barrier?
I use this and it DOES work!!! I put a lid on my bucket and keep it until the solution is all gone.
Covering the bucket is a good idea. I learned this lesson the hard way when I was capturing gutter water in a bucket and found a drowned bluebird in the bucket after a rain.
Thank you! Perfect timing. We're putting up our fencing around our new garden but the added measure to repel deer will be great. Question about the rabbit bottle..... Would this work at deflecting birds? Primarily thinking about added measures to keep hawks away from the chickens.
Thank you! I've not been able to keep the hawks away from my chickens with the bottles. I build scarecrows, and hang aluminum pie pans on them. Just an old shirt, and hat on a wood cross. That helps for awhile. Hawks will try to outsmart you. Keep moving that scarecrow around.
Please show us how to deter foxes and cays. Thanks.
FYI, i had sprinkle cayenne pepper on the grass either side of the sidewalk in front of my house. while it did discourage dogs pooping, it also KILLS GRASS.
so now i sprinkle cp on the sidewalk and hope it will still discourage dogs.
So my dog is allergic to rabbit poop. What is a natural deterrent for the yard?
I learned from other youtubes about ants. I tried that formula and it does works. Just sprinkle some Cream of Wheats on it, you find them in cereal department at Walmart. Boom they gone.
Great tip!!!! Thank you
I don't have any eggs to spare, but, want the deer to stop eating my Hostas, so, can I just sprinkle CAYENE pepper all over my Hostas and again when we get a LOT of rain? Eggs are now over $3 a dozen, so, I wanna eat any eggs that we buy. Maybe some sulfur that I already have would smell bitter enough?
DE works super for the ants .. just sprinkle it on the mounds and they are gone .. and i hear that sage is something the deer dont like the smell of
Yuck stinky eggs! lol
I had some pet ducks when I was a kid and mom loved to bake her cakes with their eggs. She loved the way the rich yokes gave the cakes a pretty yellow color.
There is nothing better than a cake baked with duck eggs. 😀
Boiling water works on those pesky ants?? We have several anthills in the backyard. I'm going to try that!! Thanks, Sara!! Happy Easter!!
I have so many anthills, and the boiling water really works great! I hope you had a wonderful Easter! Have a great week!
We managed to get the master bedroom closet sorted out over the week-end but still had a nice, relaxing Easter week-end. Hope you had a good one, too!!
Some Dawn dish detergent & Cayenne mixed in water. The soapy spray sticks to plants & holds on to the cayenne pepper. Regardless, still need to apply every few days - especially after rain.
This won't kill any of the plants right?
I know dawn detergent doesn't seem to harm plants, I use it for aphids and beetles, but I am not sure about the cayenne pepper or any spice for that matter. Peppermint is also suppose to keep some critters and bugs away so maybe add that to the water ?
@@emmabeyn be careful how much Dawn you add to the mixture - I tried it last year and it killed a bunch of my younger plants. I was trying to kill Cucumber beetles and it does work for them but WILL kill plants too
Great ideas! We will definitely try the boiling water! Wonder if the repellant works on ground squirrels.
It will definitely work on them! If they come back, then mix hot sauce with oil, cover up a sliced apple, and leave it by your garden. They don't like the hot stuff.

Please show us how to deter foxes and cats. Thanks.
Yummy, steamed ants, duck eggs with spicy rabbit and deer meat sounds like an interesting lunch. Just kidding. Great tips on your channel Blue!
LOL!!! That was great! Thanks for making me laugh!
😂😂😂😂😂
My daughter in pa had deer come in and actually eat the hot peppers out of her garden. I think buying things that twirl around would be better.
I usually have rabbits come into my yard at night and eat my grass seed. Will your method work at night as well? Or is it mostly during the day cause of the reflection.
I have a utility light near my garden, and it still reflects light off of them. If it's a dark area, it probably won't work.
will this work also for the goats? I have problem with stray goats eating my vegetable plants, and how how many times should I apply the mixture? thanks by the way for sharing this info
Stray goats? Oh wow..what state are you in?
This also works to just spread cayenne on potted flowers so dogs learn to stop messing with mess with them.
My garden is fenced and the deer like to jump over it. I didn't know it worked for dogs too.
@@TheBigBlueHouseHomestead yeah my garden is fenced in too. But the dogs can get in.
I have been using Cayenne on my raccoon's since they will not leave things alone, but do you think it will work on Moles/voles which ever is digging ? They are a real pain in my Lawn, garden, ground?
Make ice cubes filled with chili powders. Bury those around plants or in areas where you see them making trails. You want the hot peppers to be underground.
..lol..1) I live in the city and that stinky stuff won’t cut it with my neighbors…. 2). i have been using cayenne like crazy , and the animals just get used to it. But I am going to try the whirligig thingee. Ty
Add some Dawn dish detergent & cayenne & water mix.
Nice tips
Thanks! Much love XOXO
@@TheBigBlueHouseHomestead much love xoxox
Does the smell attract flies.?
Hello hello ❤️❤️❤️
Hello 😊
I’m not sure that you’ll see this, but are you supposed to spray directly on the plants or create a barrier. Your directions leaned towards a barrier but the comments have me confused. HELP! 😭♥️
You can do either. If you spray around the plants, it masks the smell of the actual plants. But if you spray on the plants, the deer will not be happy with their spicy garden snacks LOL
Boiling water is what I use for my fire ants except for when they are building next to my plants, then I just fuss and fuss until I’m willing to lose the plants in the area.
You haven’t had a problem with raccoons or opossums with the deer repellent??? I can’t even use fish fertilizer because of the stupid things!!! Great video!!! 🐸🐸🐸
I have a few ant hills that take over plants too. I just leave em alone. Surprisingly, i do not seen a single raccoon, or opossum here. Now, i do get lots of skunks. But that's a whole different plan to keep them away. Lol
@@TheBigBlueHouseHomestead I’ll keep my opossums and raccoons and you can have your skunks!!!! Dealing with skunks can really stink!!! Lol
how about milk
would just a squirt bottle with cyanne pepper mixed in spraying it on my peas work to keep the rabbits from enjoying mowing down my peas?
The cayenne pepper in water will work, but make sure you strain it with a coffee filter. If not, it will clog your sprayer.
Does this work with cucumber beetles
No. Peppermint oil with work for cucumber beetles. It hides the smell of plants.
Look at that grass. You should let the deer and rabbits in might help you mow that grass.
Unfortunately my rabbits don’t scare. We can have a conversation and I can explain to them why I truly want them to leave my plants alone, waving my arms, nothing
Going with chili oil and garlic this spring. Aaaaah
Ant hill? Gasoline and a match. Zero ants!
Will it work in squirrels?
Yes it will. I've also mixed hot sauce with oil and put that on flower bulbs. The more spice, the better
Will this work for squirrels
Any hot pepper mixture, or oil will work for the squirrels.
I really need something because my dogs are eating rabbits poop too much
You can also cook oil with hot chili peppers. Let it cool and use that. It lasts longer in the rainy season too
Will this work with Bears
I don't have bears here, so I don't normally need to deal with them. But I read that ammonia in jars, with peanut butter smeared in the outside, really works. You could also dip rags in ammonia and hang them around the problem areas
What about a neighbor's cat repellent it is literally running my property the smell in the damage that they are doing to my property is unreal it is so bad that it is making me sick even from in the house plus they are killing my chicks and going into my greenhouse in a damaged that they are doing is on real I've got fence around my place but I'll tell you what these things are unreal
Neighbor cats are hard. I've honestly dealt with this when I first moved here. I had to just put up with it. But i was told by animal control, take pics, and videos. File reports and move forward. I took my neighbor to court ($0.00 cost) and made sure it ended up on record. I am so sorry! this is such a hard thing to deal with. I won in the end, after one court case. There is hope!
ping pong ball on the end of stick
Make sure you put that pepper on your kids plate before you feed them .
Two words:
LIQUID FENCE. Problems solved. Good luck
Idk about letting it go anaerobic. You're pouring bad bacteria into your system. I've been researching how to improve soil microbiome/health. Maybe I'll pour immediately instead of letting it get putrid. Thank you for the tips!
I don’t think it’s really anaerobic - i didnt see her put a lid on it. Besides, once you take a brush and scatter it all about on plants there’s nothing anaerobic about that. There is all kinds of both good and bad bacteria in your garden.
:( these wild bunnies destroyed our Pepper crop lost $50k
Pellet gun takes care of the rabbits.
I tried your magic solution, it did not work.
I'm sorry to hear that.
Just get a dog. Keeps deer, rabbits, squirrels and everything else away from my yard plants.
Hmmm....
You won't use garden chemicals because you won't put such things in your body. But you spray raw eggs onto your garden plants. Aren't you creating a salmonella sanctuary on the vegetables you plan to consume?
Furthermore, you have no problem with ink, a chemical, being injected under your skin.
That's a good point. I just wash everything and have never gotten sick. I'll do some more research. That tattoo is as old as my oldest son. We all do stupid things when we are young.
@@TheBigBlueHouseHomestead Thank you for sharing your wisdom. Your kids are blessed to have a mom that grows healthy food for them.
