For standup, Bob is best known for routines where he is talking on the phone and you only hear his end of the conversation. If you want to do more Bob, I would suggest that.
A leftover from the Vaudeville era is Bob Hope. He was in his sixties in the 70's and I swear that my father was about to have kittens every time he watched Hope's standup! Oh... 'about to have kittens' was a very old saying from the early twentieth century (think 1920's -30's). It meant he was laughing so hard he was out of control and couldn't stop (given to me by my father born in 1913). 😏😁
Bob Newhart was possibly the funniest Man in his time! Great actor as well. Sadly we lost him just a couple of months ago. And I believe tomorrow would have been his 95th birthday? Not 100%sure on that though!

His style is these one sided conversations. The Driving Instructor is one of his best known one. There's one on bomb disposal as well.

Yes, check out more of his comedy. He really is very funny. Dry humor for sure. I grew up with his comedy.
You should watch his TV shows, the Bob Newhart Show, and he has made TONS of appearances on other shows.

Enjoyed it! Always good to see folks from other generations. Not sure if stand up has evolved or devolved, but nice to remember the past.
