    Very nice video. My wife got a bunch of Italian beef from her sisters wedding reception and spilled probably a gallon of Au Jus in the backseat. This is a life saver of a video

      Oh wow! Hope it didn't leave a stain.. some kind of degreaser for fabric should work if it did. There's a spray called Folex here at Home Depot for carpet stains that has worked nicely for me and is a degreaser. It cleans stained carpets really good.. I never tried it on the car seats but I think I'll try it soon. It's cheap too. Lowes has it too: www.lowes.com/pd/FOLEX-32-oz-Carpet-Cleaning-Solution/1083045

    2016 Corolla. Grandsons and their 100 pound Lab made a mess of the back seat. Video helped greatly, especially the part where you slipped the seatbelts out of the plastic bracket on the top of the seat. Thanks!

    Wishing you would try the same in a Corolla 1998 LE with the valet locked trunk situation where you have no access to the trunk from inside or outside, no way to fold the backrest 60/40 . I like the speed you work at. You really teach us not to use brutal force but instead try to minimize any damage to the car. Good work and many thanks again.

      Not sure if removing the seats can help with sleeping? Be careful with the wires underneath if there are no seats, the fuel pump is there.

    Thanks for the video!
    If I only wish to remove the bench (not the seat backs) is that possible/problematic? I simply wish to put some boxes on the floor, fold the seats and then put other boxes on top of the seat back.

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  2 роки тому

      The problem is the 12mm bolt at 0:54 . You may be able to get to it through the trunk with the backrest folded down, that way you don't have to remove the backrest at all but I haven't tried.

      @@CleverFix I took out the bench put small boxes where it was and folded the seat backs down. I then put boxes on top. It served our needs and we did around 10 trips. Thanks

    I removed the back rests off my Corolla, so I could sleep in the back of it comfortably and flat. I did not remove the seat part though. I understand under the seats is the fuel pump/wire and to be careful. Do I have anything to worry about having only removed the back rests? I don't want to accidentally disturb something.

    I have a 2016 Toyota Corolla and my check engine light came on along with the trac off light. This happened after I pumped gas. My car did not want to start until I jump started it. I used a code reader and it said it was the mass air filter sensor. I changed the maf sensor, but the lights didn’t come off. I unplugged my battery and the lights took off for a while but it came back up. I pumped gas again and the same thing happened, it didn’t want to start. Although, this time I didn’t have to jump start it for it to turn on. Your videos have helped me learn a lot about maintaining my car along with saving me money. Hope I get a reply 🙏🏻

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  2 роки тому +1

      Do you own the code reader or are you just borrowing it? Why didn't you clear the code with the reader instead of disconnecting the battery? What is the code exactly, and are you sure you're checking properly? It sounds like either you have a major electrical issue going on, or you're not checking it properly. If there's a code and you fix that item, normally you don't get the code again. The car is designed to detect these issues and does not normally give wrong information. Also pumping gas doesn't have anything to do with the MAF, the only thing pumping gas can cause is issues with the purge system if you're overfilling. Do you overfill gas, or you stop when it stops and no more?

    • @chrisinthecut6264
      @chrisinthecut6264 2 роки тому

      @@CleverFix I borrowed the code reader from my local AutoZone. The code states “P0171 ‘system to lean’”. Secondary DTC’s P0441 & P0455. I tend to stop pumping when the pump stops.

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  2 роки тому +1

      @@chrisinthecut6264 Those codes indicate a leak in the EVAP system which is likely what triggered the MAF code. Here's a video on replacing the charcoal canister: ua-cam.com/video/BceUboV_Qf0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=RevitAuto and another for EVAP solenoid: ua-cam.com/video/Rv7eOpopejo/v-deo.html&ab_channel=AndrewMarietta I think on 2016 it should be similar. The solenoid could be bad, or there could be a leak somewhere, everything has to be tested. A mechanic can do a smoke test for leaks. The best way to diagnose is following a repair manual like Chilton's, it provides all instructions for diagnosing.. some public libraries allow digital access for free.

      @@CleverFix Im finally back after a long day. Good and bad news. Good news is that the engine and trac off light on my dashboard turned off. I changed the EVAP solenoid and drove a couple miles when suddenly my lights came off. Car feels way smoother since I also changed the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Bad news is, when I tried to unscrew the purge valve I stabbed myself in between my index finger and thumb of my right hand. Put some WD-40 on the screw and it came right off. After I replaced the solenoid I drove off to my local emergency room. Dr said I should be good. Funny part is my check engine light came off when I arrived to the hospital, which was a relief. I appreciate your help and the useful videos you sent! I have learned how to replace important parts on my vehicles engine and also saved myself lots of money. Thank you!

      It can be tricky.. one time I was trying it by sitting down on the seat, but it didn't do anything. The trick is to press right above the clip on the edge of the seat, not in the middle of the seat.

      @@salmanhaider3876 I found out you can.
      You need to push down on the cushion where the tab is located.
      Then stick an extension and socket on it.
      It’s a little tricky though because it is at a 45 degree angle or something so the bolt face faces up.

    Do you know if a rear seat from a 2021 corolla fit in a 2014 ?

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  7 місяців тому

      I don't think it will, but I can't say 100% for sure because I never tried. Corollas are very similar between 2014 to 2018. Some 2019's may be similar well, but it was re-designed from 2020 and up.

      If you're getting it from a junk yard , they can usually tell you which years it will fit, so try asking there.

    Is there a way to remove the backrest but leave the bottom cushion without having a metal bracket sticking upo

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  Рік тому

      The bracket can be removed normally, but it's very likely the bolts have rusted and they will be very difficult to remove. Too much force can damage the threads and bolts, so I wouldn't try forcing if they don't come out easily. If they come out easily, ok.. but if force is needed, I would stop and put them back in.

    How did you fold the seats down?

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  2 роки тому +2

      Pull the knob up at the top of the seat. If you don't have it, then you don't have foldable seats, and probably it's not a 2014+ Toyota Corolla.

    2020 Toyota Corolla LE (gasoline) here for me. Am a single guy, so sort of was thinking about doing this as I need all the space (and openness) and don't at all need the seats, but am worried it might look real bad visually since you can't/shouldn't completely gut everything (belts and stuff still remain 1:41 and 1:50 ). And might cause alarm to police if they ever pulled you over for anything. I dunno, maybe lay a piece of wood over the area? Still, I imagine it might look weird and ugly to most people, even though I'd love the space. Just as well, I'm still amateur so not sure if this stuff is above me, hehe.

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  2 роки тому

      The middle part under the seat is the cover for the gas tank pump and wiring.. so be careful with that part if you want to go a long time without the seat there. I would only remove them temporarily for the space if I really need the space, then put them back. It doesn't look very good without them and it makes the sound when playing music sound worse for sure.
