Looking forward to the interview with Just Icelandic! You are doing a fantastic job not only with the Iceland coverage, but with all your geology videos.
I really like Gylfi's channel and videography. He has a thermal drone he's flown in colder weather, and he's detected some thermal anomalies and steam(?) along one of the highways. Really quality work. It's great to see the collaboration!
I'm looking forward for the interview with Gylfi, I'm a big fan of his work. You gained a subscriber, is always a pleasure to listen to an actual geologist
So glad you will be collaborating with Gylfy (spelling ??). Just Icelandic is a great channel and I am thrilled by the idea of you both sharing information and methods. Gylfy's video library is amazing, and I think it would make the basis for a really comprehensive documentary about volcanism in Iceland.
I remember Gylfi saying some time back that he's going to make a documentary about the volcanoes when he gets more footage. I think that's one reason he upgraded his drone
Sandals, it is! I was thinking about them yesterday when it was so warm here in Nova Scotia, so you can thank her for me for helping me accept that I wasn’t really crazy.
Hi. Always look forward to your updates . Update of my own I finally got the attention of the Pennsylvania geologist society interested in my findings here and I am going to be meeting up with someone soon for testing to see if I discovered a lost cambrian volcano and possible kimberlite tube!! You have helped me understand volcanoes so much better and I can't thank you enough.
There is a Cretaceous kimberlite dike in Ithaca, New York. It would not be surprising if there were similar kimberlites in Pennsylvania, but I don't know where you are looking.
Thanks for take time to share you knowledge, find volcanos and geology very interesting and have learned loads from you channel and the live with Iceland UA-cam feed , mods and local residents are very helpful
Thank you for another great round up Shaun. It’s great news to hear you have teamed up with Gylfi (Just Icelandic). I have been following his channel since I started watching a lot of YT when the first eruption started in March 2021. He is an excellent photographer with a sense of humour. I’ve also been so inspired by your videos that I enrolled on a short volcanology course with the University of Iceland today which will, no doubt, help to exercise the old grey matter a little.
Thanks for another great update! I am totally on board with your wife's toe freedom holiday! Looking forward to your interview with Amanda Jo, as well as with the Just Icelandic gentleman, whenever you get those scheduled! Will be there on Sunday for your chat with Nick Zentner - just finishing up his Geology 101 videos. Hope you post yours soon!
I'm SO on board with Toe Freedom Day! Coincidentally, my husband and I celebrate our anniversary on March 1st on odd years (yep, married on 2/29) so your wife's holiday works nicely. 😅 We appreciate your geologic updates for Iceland, Shawn. So comprehensive and well done. We enjoy the drone coverage too. Thank you for everything you do!
Toe freedom! Love it! I have tried to start this first week as National Wash your winter coat week. I hate getting stuck near those smelly coats people live in all winter.
I laughed over your wife’s proclaimed holiday as I looked down at my flip flop shodded toes! Even though I live in upstate NY, and some places got a foot of snow yesterday, I’m optimistic and my toes agree! Btw, I’m following the Iceland situation with interest because I have an Icelandic exchange student daughter from there! Appreciate your “unsensationalized” coverage.
Such a wonderful presentation, Shawn! Thanks for gathering info for us from different sources and adding your insight and explanations we can understand. You leave us wanting more.......and that's a sign of a good teacher. Looking forward to your upcoming interview with Amanda Jo, who has played an integral part on your team. Thank you again for sacrificing your time to do these videos, the drone videos, the interviews, etc. I hope you are beginning to receive well deserved recognition.
I live West of you, a little bit more in the temperate rainforest, and the wonderful thing about wearing sandals in winter is that when your feet get wet and cold they dry off and warm up so much faster.
Toe Freedom Day on March 1, I’m celebrating 🎉 Today is my birthday and to me, Spring begins today and I get to set my toes free from Winter confines. It’s so good to be validated and not alone on my holiday ❤
Haha, love the story about your wife’s holiday. That’s sweet! ❤ Here in Minnesota sandals might be more theoretical than practical at the moment, but hey, with warm socks any shoe is possible, right? Enjoying my crocs right now.
Love Gylfi and his channel! So glad to hear that you're collaborating and are going to interview him. His sense of humor makes my day every time I watch one of his videos.
here in Iceland people are celebrating B-Day, otherwise known as Beer (Bjór) Day, celebrating the legalization of beer in 1989 -- perhaps a good match with toe freedom day.
Thank you for the update, Shawn, and aww, you made my heart so happy when you gave a little shout out to your wife 💖 Happy Toe Freedom Day to you two! ☺️
20:30 It's important to note that with Scenario B and D that if the eruption happens today this will not be the lava flow. Because it takes into account a protective wall in the east that has not been built yet. But they do expect it to be finished in 5 days or so. I did mention it in the email but I guess Shawn forgot to mention it.
Nice and Blue Lagoon still states "All facilities are open", evacuation is via road 43 North on all their maps but what if that overflows ? Do they also have the 2 maps of possible lavaflows ?
I can totally respect toe freedom. My old feet get cold when I sleep so I sleep wearing socks, but I too love being able to just go outside wearing my crocs without socks. It's getting warmer where I live, and this is actually right about the time of the year when I usually premier going outside for a cup of coffee together with my indoors cat. I let her sniff some fresh air and watch some insects and birds, and then I finish my cup and we go back inside again. The snow is gone now, but it's still real wet so I'm hoping for a sunny day.
just icelandic is great some great filming by Gylfi,. Val Troll a volcanologist geologist etc who presently works in Sweden but began his university education in Scotland completing a Ph.d in Germany , has done a lot of work in the canaries including a documentary for the BBC is someone else who I think would be of interest to you, he posts a lot on you tube
I'm excited for the collab with Just Icelandic. Gylfi is an incredibly talented photographer and it will be great to have a professional geologist working with his images and intimate knowledge of the land and people.
Shawn thanks for the education on the update on Iceland, 🇮🇸 am learning so much in a short period of time Before you know it I will be a UA-cam geologist Lol Thank you
Very much looking forward to your video with Nick Zentner. I'm pretty sure that watching a few of his videos is what made UA-cam start recommending your videos to me.
I saw an interesting map of crustal deformation which was attributed to Italian cosmo skymed satellite, additional info on how to access appreciated. Anyway the views I saw were from 11/2/23 and 11/10/23 after the dike intruded. The deformation seemed to show tearing or rifting in the Hagafell area as well as Zone 7 around Blettahrann. You mentioned another dike intrusion was unlikely, but a valid possibility. If there were additional dikes to form, would they be likely in Hagafell area, or could another dike splinter off the deeper magma pool thought to be roughly under the power plant?
Dr Wilsey Iceland use’s Greenwich Meantime time is used in the Winter the time currently in Iceland is 20.00 ( 8 P.M The UK has the same time in Zone as Iceland.
I don't wear shoes unless I'm going outside. The most I will wear in the house is socks. Toe Freedom Forever! Your wife's March 1 remembrance day is better than ours. One year ago today we said goodbye to our little tuxedo kitty. She had cancer in her jaw. Today we will remember her life. Next year, we will wholeheartedly embrace Toe Freedom Day!
from New Zealand .. Jandals and bare feet are all year thing.. sunny, wet, storm, snow.. okay maybe jandals minimum for snow.. keep up the great channel.
As an Australian, i am completely on board with toe freedom. I wear socks indoors for maybe 4 months of the year (and we are in the cooler southern part, I'm sure if i lived further north i worud never wear socks).

They just finished evacuation of blue lagoon
As you might know, the magma is moving again. No eruption yet, but it might start in a few minutes or hours.
Thanks Shawn. A conversation with Gylfi will be very interesting. I appreciate you making the effort to arrange for that to happen. 🙂👍
After the may eruption Just Icelandic was the first I started to follow, really love the way he says: "Iceland"...
Gylfi Gilfason is a great drone photographer and quite a character. Looking forward to that.
Looking forward to the interview with Just Icelandic! You are doing a fantastic job not only with the Iceland coverage, but with all your geology videos.
these are the two channels I watch for all my updates, the two together, great!! (edit: oh and ofc. Hliðarmenn ) 🤩
Hear! Hear!
Gylfi is awesome! Looking frward to the interview. :)
Gylfi and Shawn Wilsey!! Fantastic!
I really like Gylfi's channel and videography. He has a thermal drone he's flown in colder weather, and he's detected some thermal anomalies and steam(?) along one of the highways. Really quality work.
It's great to see the collaboration!
Looking forward to the Gylfi and Shawn video, too!
Today 1st of March is also St David's Day patron Saint of Wales 🏴
So you can also get your Daffodils out and celebrate that as well 🙂
I'm looking forward for the interview with Gylfi, I'm a big fan of his work. You gained a subscriber, is always a pleasure to listen to an actual geologist
Gylfi and Shawn will be a dream collaboration. I‘m looking very forward to this.
Looking forward to your chats with Amanda Jo, Gilfi, and Nick
Just Icelandic has amazing drone footage.
Looking forward to the Amanda Jo interview and the Just Icelandic fellow, whose channel I’ve enjoyed as well.
Thank you Shawn! Looking forward to the interviews with Amanda Jo and Gylfi!
Appreciate these shorter, more concise update videos. The hour plus long livestream recordings aren't as easy to squeeze into my day.
I feel like even these need to be cut down by 20 minutes. I listen, but I have no idea what he's said by the end. Too unfocused.
Great report professor. Thank you and Thanks to Amanda Jo. Enjoy your weekend. 👍👍👍
Toe Freedom Day sounds like a good thing to celebrate!
Thanks Shawn, so many things to look forward to. Stay safe everyone 🙏

Awesome! I look forward to the interview with Gylfi! I've been following him as well. Very rational thinker.
March 1st is also St. David's Day, the patron saint of Wales
Once again Shawn, thank you for all you do! And thanks to Amanda Jo, et. al., who bring us more information. The interviews will be great!
Thanks for take time to share you knowledge, find volcanos and geology very interesting and have learned loads from you channel and the live with Iceland UA-cam feed , mods and local residents are very helpful
Thank God for your balanced reporting

Your wife sounds like me. I make up holidays or rename existing ones. Valentines Day in this house is called Enforced Affection Day.
Valentine’s Day I call “Half-Priced Candy Day!” 🙌
😂😂😂 👊
😂
Too funny!
It’s “Singles Awareness Day”. Calling it “Valentine’s” is coupleist. Check your relationship privilege.

Thanks again Shawn. Nice to hear your update. Hope Mother Nature cooperates with sleep schedules in Mountain Time. 😊😊.
Amanda Jo, I appreciate you so much and can't wait to hear your story. Hope all is well with you and your family.
Yes, great news hearing about the interview with gylfi!! My 2 fav iceland "reporters"
Enjoyed many hours of lecture with Zentner. Including many reruns. Timeline numbers are overwhelmingly confusing at times.
Happy Toe-Freedom day from 🇫🇮 as well!
I live West of you, a little bit more in the temperate rainforest, and the wonderful thing about wearing sandals in winter is that when your feet get wet and cold they dry off and warm up so much faster.
GREAT reason for a holiday! 😊
Thanks for update on Iceland!
Thank you for the updates. The intervju's/chats all sounds interesting

Yes! Skál! 🍻🤗
beer wasn't legal until 1989 in iceland? yall are some brave people surviving those brutal winters without beer, lol.

Willesey and Zettner! Bliss! Thanks, Shawn.
Ooops! That’s Zentner. Apologies.
3 geologists said the eruption is today. I said its not for a few days. I guess we will see soon.
Thanks for the update, Shawn. Thorough and easy to understand as usual!
Thank you for the update, Shawn, and aww, you made my heart so happy when you gave a little shout out to your wife 💖 Happy Toe Freedom Day to you two! ☺️
Great, now I'm going to be at work all day refreshing seismic data in Iceland, thanks Shawn.
We just had a surprise snow storm in Ireland today, I will be keeping my toes covered and toasty warm.
We are expecting 8” of snow today and tomorrow !! Still big boots day in Manitoba.😢
Again, thanks so much for another crystal clear update, Shawn! Looking forward to all the interviews!
