This synth is amazing. I have it installed on my pod. The features and quality = incredible. Processing of external audio is great. I have the synth controlled via behringer odyssey keyboard and the audio out of odyssey feeds into the pollen8.
Oh wow, amazing, so easy to install yet so great sound... Thank you! I read the replies and found something about using an sdcard where you can put a configurationfile for usage with external controllers. I’m going to look for that. Unbelievable that this is possible with such a tiny device.
Left my pod sitting on the kitchen bench since it arrived weeks (months?) ago, finally hooked it up yesterday, uploaded, uploaded the stock multi effects from the web programmer, and was stunned how creamy the reverb actually was, then I stumble on your work, truth be told, this pod was a bargain. No need to buy the NTS-1 anymore. Love your work.
It’s admittedly a slightly slimmed down reverb vs what’s on the nts1 as it also has to do the 8 voices etc. I might build the verb / chorus as as separate effect only build once I finish some other effects I’m doing!
Hey thanks! FYI - electro-smith have a euro rack version of daisy called the Daisy Patch, I am in the process of updating this synth to support both FM and to use the patch hardware.
Yeah, I don’t have the patch yet - if there’s enough interest I’ll probably look at getting that one next and create some more stuff with the screen to help!
Rick Birmingham Hey thanks. I’ve actually purchased a screen that should be the same spec. Theoretically I should be able to mock one up at least with the seed and a breadboard etc ...
@Joe Spencer true. Though some like the little waldorf desktops like the rocket don't really have much control and still costs a bit. Then again similarly priced Mininova does far more and even has a vst editor.
u right, in most cases they have to pay coders, but still the cost is too hi. Hammondegg is something like an angel that gives those beauties for free.
it does not work on my pod. the sound is almost absent (hardly audible on the extreme gain, and therefore with terrible noise). I see my daisy seed is slightly different, it is rev5 and has a different audio codec - could this be a reason?
@@LubkoReminetskyy I have reworked this entirely and added new engines, it’s not quite done but it supports the new codec, and yes I’m going to open the source. I need to get a few things done first beforehand.
@@hammondeggsmusic PLEASE make it selectable MIDI channel and not just Omni/All. I would LOVE to have this dangling off the end of my MIDI chain but it tries to play all incoming channels :)
Would it be possible for you to generate a new bin file that works with the Daisies that are being sold today. Electro-Smith has changed the codec three times that I know of, probably for parts supply reasons. Their compiler will autodetect the codec on the board that it's connected to and generate the proper bin file, but an old bin file only makes silence on a new board with a different codec chip. The lights and buttons appear to work, so the code is running, it just can't talk to the codec.
@@hammondeggsmusic As far as I understand you only need to compile it again with the new librarys and it should work on the new codec. :-) I trashed one of my daisy seed with the old codec and would love to play your synth again :-)
Keen Vox Yeah, it’s not “quite” that simple unfortunately as a fair bit changed since it was released, I’ve had to remove the sd card and use the on board flash for instance so it can still fit. Almost done though I will be releasing it soon, with a few fixes and improvements too.
I've got the Daisy Pod up and running with the Electro-smith native examples running. I'm also able to load the Pollen8 code but the uSD card is not working (web load completes fine but then two red flashes after reboot). The uSD card is 64G formatted to exFAT. Has anyone been able to load/save patches to the uSD card? Anything special you had to do? TIA.
Hmm - I haven’t tried exfat - I used a much smaller card and I believe fat32. It’s entirely possible their fat library doesn’t/ didn’t support exfat. Pollen(8) doesn’t need a lot of data, maybe try a smaller card if you have one!
Hmm good idea. I really want to get back into this project and add some more features, once i finish up a couple things for the ‘logues I’ll get back to this one !
@@hammondeggsmusic Thanks. Also, please consider MIDI-CC to edit all parameters, I wrote some editors using CTRL and would love to have one for Pollen8 ;-)
Autodafe Absolutely! Part of the reason I’ve been a bit late on that is I want to make it totally programmable - e.g. an .ini or json file on the sd card will let you assign various CC / sysex values to various synth parameters etc - this way I don’t need to make it compatible with “x” - you can just edit the ini file. Thanks!
Oh wow, been playing around with this for a little bit, it's fantastic.

This actually has me questioning why some synths costs sooooo much for the same functionality

Is the code available on GitHub
OR
Will you port this over to the Daisy Patch
PLEASE
Then I'd be so happy to donate and download
You can find the pollen8.bin on the linked homepage in the video description. Concider a donation for this awesome synth! :)
