CAMPING in COLORADO SPRINGS in Our Lance 825 Truck Camper

- Опубліковано 10 лют 2025
- We take our Lance 825 truck camper to Colorado Springs, Colorado - where we travel to the western slope of Pike's Peak to fly fish gold medal rivers for trophy trout, explore abandoned mining ghost towns, and go searching for a wild pack of donkeys believed to be decedents of the ones used in the gold mines -- And one of them wanted to come home with us!

He was such a sweetheart! It was so hard to drive away 🥺
Beautiful 🤩 ❤
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
I've been to Colorado many times since I have Family in Denver . Colorado thus far is one of the most interesting and beautiful states out there . Tons of places to explore . Your videos are educational . Have fun . Keep on traveling . Yes I have been to Boulder . Nice place .
Thanks so much! We agree, Colorado is pretty dang beautiful, it’s why we moved out here!
Hi from Brazil! Talking about ethanol, this kind of fuel is used since decades (...) in our country. Here is cheaper than gasoline, BUT since "explodes" a litle better than gas, the motor has a better performance and makes less mileage (what sometimes is not the best option...). Thanks for your videos!!! 😇
Hello!! We love hearing from viewers in other countries! Thank you so much for the info!
These are only getting better. The Rockies were my favorite mountains as a young man. They are so special. Keep up the fun my friends and thanks for the support on our channel. - Turtle
Thank you! And we agree - the Rockies are the reason we live in Colorado.
@@thewaywedidit I wanted to move to Montana for the Summers until I discovered the Italian Alps. Keep having fun and keep in touch. We will be back in your area in the next couple years, as part of our drive around the World.
Beautiful, thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Hang in there Dave, you know what they say, “A bad day fishing is better than…” well you know the rest.
How is removing the camper so you can use the truck alone without taking off the hook ups to explore? Difficult?
We actually don’t ever take it off while camping. We like having the conveniences of a kitchen and bathroom with us while exploring. But loading/unloading before & after our trips is pretty easy. It has electric jacks that raise and lower the camper into the truck bed. It can be a little tricky to center it, but with practice it gets easier.
I had an E-85 capable E150 van. It got about 25% worse mileage on ethanol. If I could find it at 25% less per gallon it was worthwhile. Ethanol free got about 1 extra mpg. Probably not worth the extra expense and harder to find.
...and, your engine may not last very long USING E85: Proceed at your own risk.
I don't even like using E10!

Great tip! Thanks for sharing your experience!

We enjoy your videos!!! What kind of bracket did you put on your tV to make it higher that the stock mount?
Thank you! And great eye! Dave made a custom wooden bracket to attach the tv higher on the existing mount.
I like your videos but I got a question I'll turn my phone all the way up Trey here yet and I'll have a hard time to hear your your boys I don't know your camera's low turn down or something but I like your videos keep making them have a good day
Yes, the volume does seem a bit low, but t looks like they fixed the 2 different volume levels for voice (too low) and the music in-between the voice-overs (too high): The two audio tracks seems balanced now. 🙂
BTW, I lived in Colorado Springs -- twice (!)...would like to go back (am now back in West Texas) but not until (IF?) the real-estate/housing market (both apt rent prices AND home/condo/town home prices there) get back to "normal." Not to mention I ALSO need to see interest rates (for mortgages) falling as well

Thank you for watching! We are so sorry you're having trouble hearing the voiceover. We will continue to adjust our videos. All of our videos include closed captioning if that helps.
Caution: Check to make sure your truck's engine can use increased amounts of alcohol in gasoline -- most engines can't due to it causing damage and manufacturers warn against it (could void a warranty?). IIRC, 10% added alcohol is the max most vehicles can safely take, so if the pump sticker says "E15" avoid it. Just in case.
Meantime, check your Owners Manual for any fuel/alcohol warnings. TMK, 8 manufactures have said "E15 does not comply with the fuel requirements" -- so says Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo -- so using it could cause warranty issues.
Personally, I'm not putting E15 in MY truck (even if it were a clunker). ;-)
Environmentalist are pushing the alcohol in gasoline -- like they are EVs -- but it's NOT good for engines, even harmful (but they don't care about people who have gas engine vehicles anyway, as we're all "supposed" to have EVs now).
One more thing: Gas engines (naturally-aspirated) lose ~3% of their horsepower for every 1000 feet above sea level you're driving...so even without HP-robbing alcohol in gas, you still might notice a loss of power the higher up you go (and some mountain passes in CO are 11-12K feet high). Turbo engines may make up for this lack of oxygen by pumping more air into the engine...but turbo engines have their own issues -- I prefer mine "au naturel."
Happy Travels,

Thanks for the advice!
At some point a fish will be caught...right? Lol
Yes 🤣 Dave has been tying flies all winter to prepare!
😳..... the pressure must be unbearable! 😆
