Good day. I don't farm anymore, did can't no more. I was reading in our farm paper, farmer was looking for organic feed. So if your feeding cattle. all hay, straw, grain it has to be organic? That must be pretty hard to do sometimes. Thanks I still like your hat. lol
Don, We are fortunate to live in good farming country. We raise all of our own feed. We do stockpile corn, oats, and hay in order to weather an occasional drought. If I sense feed shortage coming, I will sell livestock or not fatten calves.
No sure that I am getting your meaning. Organic certification is based upon complete traceability (field to consumer). As such, there is a complete audit trail AND the corresponding paperwork.
Seems like you’re just inviting extra red tape 🤔 kind of takes away the whole point of doing a Homestead Farm in my opinion. Trying to move away from over bearing regulation not invite it onto my farm. 🤔
The price difference offsets the paperwork burden. Grain prices range 2-2.5 times higher 🙂. My farm, small though it is, cash flows 👍🏻. I have little off farm income.
Great info, thanks for sharing
Well said, thanks Jack!

Ain't nobody know what an OSP is besides an organic farmer. ;)
