My grandmother had a friend from Japan who taught us both Gyotaku many, many years ago. I still have a print of a little northern sunfish I caught when I was 12. Both my grandmother and her have since passed, so I thank you Naoki and Rajiv for reigniting this memory.
Naoki is a natural teacher, love his enthusiasm. So cool to learn about the behaviours of the different fish and how that informs his art.
Also...the best thing about this channel is that I can NEVER guess what the next video will be about lol
What a fascinating art. The gentleman's graphic explanations indicate an inspirational teacher
Naoki is impressively skilled and observant of Nature. He's also hilarious! What a delightful episode.
This is a fascinating, beautiful art. Naoki is so interesting to listen to. Thank you so much for sharing his work to us - I feel very grateful. 😄
This was so unexpected, firstly your trip to Hawaii and then Japanese fish printing. I didn't even know that this was such a thing. Rajiv, this was so cool!! Naoki has a lovely way of explaining and he has unique way of thinking too. But my favourite thing about his talk was his love and respect for nature. Nice to meet you Naoki!
Loved watching and learning about something I had no idea existed. ❤
What a fun adventure! Loved the energy in the room
Oh my goodness, you keeping doing things I’ve done or are interested in. I’ve taught so many Gyotaku classes and my students were always so shocked when I showed up with real fish that I caught. Great memories!
What a lovely human! If I ever get back to Hawaii I will absolutely look him up!! These videos give me great joy!!!!
I just came back from Hawaii and miss it so much. This made me feel like I was back on the Big Island. My favorite video of yours I think ❤
What a fantastic teacher! I love his enthusiasm and joy with his craft! :)
Fish, printmaking and Hawaii are probably my top three of everything in life!
I had always wanted to see this type of art being completed. Thanks !
What a wonder person and a master artisan!
I like the slight fossil vibe.
Watching from Bonnie Scotland 🏴, i love your videos Rajiv, ❤ thankyou for making the world a better place xxxx
Thank you. Scottish folk songs are my favorite 🙂
I used to sing in a choir where we sang songs from around the world. I am not sure, but I think Wild Mountain Thyme could have Scottish roots. Loved singing that.
Amazing technique! Kudos to Mr Hayashi! and to you for bringing it to us Mr. Rajiv! I can't get enough of your videos but this one was exceptional. I am very happy I am a subscriber of your content. You never fail to lift me up.
I see you were at Pali Look out, over looking the Waimanalo Beach and farm. It was a gorgeous best weather on planet day. You ride on the Pali Highway to Kaneohe to check out sensei (先生) Naoki, he sure is our local island's best kine. I think you've got some tan too... he he he...
Wonderful thank you so much. What a talented humble artist. Love videos like this ❤

Rajiv, I love your work! You’ve been so kind and inspiring, and during the pandemic, your food videos really brought me a lot of happiness. You’re truly blessed and so artistic. I had no idea you were visiting Hawaii-I actually live here! I have many Sri Lankan and Tamil friends, and if you’d like to meet them, that would be great. Hope you have an amazing time here!
We lived on Oahu for a few years, I wish I had known about Naoki and his Gyotaku art!
You always show us interesting things.

Aloha Rajiv! Are you still on Oahu? Were you in last weeks storm? It was nuts! You should head to the lo’i and learn about Kalo and make poi. Or learn lei po’o. Lei for the head. 🤙🏽

So beautiful but how does he keep his studio sanitary?
❤❤❤❤
Does it smell fishy?
Not at all. There was no smell of fish in there!
