    Did this loop 28 years ago with my wife on our first holiday together out of the UK. One of my favourite memories of that trip around all the Rocky Mountain states. A magical place. Was pretty cold camping at 10,000 feet in our cheap 2 season tent, but well worth it.

    Fantastic video. The best I have seen about Medicine Bow Peak. My son & I did Medicine Bow Peak in August 2019--still snow on top. We did it clockwise--better if you have shorter legs.
    Good explanations. Great footage. Not a big fan of using music, but you kept it low & to a minimum--I love to hear the wind & water & footsteps. Keep up the good work!

    Thanks for putting this together. Good recommendation to do counter-clockwise.

      The sunrise on the mountain and reflection in the surrounding lakes made for unbelievable views. We did our research for weather/smoke conditions due to fires in Rocky Mountain National Forest, and were able to chose the perfect day.

    Was there a few weeks back amazing place. Interesting how you could see the fires from RMNP in CO.

      We could see the Colorado fires and smoke plumes from the highway clear as day driving back to Laramie that afternoon. Seemed like we were high enough at the trailhead to get above the smoke that seemed to settle in below 9,000 feet. Thank goodness! The views were fantastic!

    Blown.A.Way! What an outdoor feast for the eyes. Have to admit though some of those ridge shots made me dizzy. Just getting familiar with all that Wyoming has to offer. Been spending too much time in Colorado I guess (sorry Colorado). What's the closest burger and beer spot? BTW, what is it with the one thumbs down...y'all make somebody mad?

    Scott, great video. Really enjoyed it. Special to me because my grandparents were Forest Service volunteers in one of the Medicine Bow campgrounds for 10 summers. I've done that hike several times and its amazing. Last time might have been my favorite.... hiked up and ran the back side down. Love trail running... it was a blast!

    Really enjoyed watching this vid. I felt like I was on a mini vacation! Been to the Snowy Range 3 times. Hiked out to Prospector Lake to collect some Stromatolite samples with my then girlfriend (now, wife for 3 decades). Incredible beauty. I am surprised how late in the season you all were there. Looked perfect! Thanks for sharing! Btw, where were you when you did the review at the end of the vid? The backdrop looked interesting.

    So so stunning ! Way to capture it all! What is your must haves when backpacking? Other than essentials ;)

      Considering food, water & filter, shelter, light source, appropriate clothing and footwear are essential. I would say our GoPro, Mefoto backpacker air tripod, extra batteries, external power pack, good sunglasses, gps, and a great hiking partner/group.

    Does the Snowy Mountain Range see noticeably less backcountry traffic than areas in Colorado, or does it still see a fair amount of use?

    • @nolanventures473
      @nolanventures473  2 роки тому +1

      My experience is way less than Colorado. Depends where you go though.

      Right off of Snowy Range road (WY 130) by Lake Marie. On the right side (north side) if driving up from Laramie. There are several parking areas (don’t think they are named) and they fill up quickly and early on nice days. Enjoy the trails!

    Are you allowed to camp up there

    • @nolanventures473
      @nolanventures473  Місяць тому +1

      They have some designated camping sites. But I believe you can camp anywhere in the national forest. You can check with the local forest ranger stations for details or to be sure.

      @@nolanventures473 ok thanks bro also do you know the rules on camp fires because there is no information about it

    • @nolanventures473
      @nolanventures473  Місяць тому +1

      There typically is a certain elevation where they no longer allow camp fires. Used to be no fires above 9,000 feet - not sure what it is now - but the ranger station would know.
