I grew up in Saratoga, and spent plenty of time in the Snowy Range. Been to the top of Medicine Bow Peak a few times. Been to the top of Kennedy Peak and hunted Elk and Deer in those mountains most of my life. I've camped all over them. I've driven the pass more times than I can count and even snowmobiled up around Lake Marie.
I lived in Saratoga in 1978 and Laramie in 1979. During the fall of 1978 I worked for the Forest Service and lived in a barracks with 2 other men. We worked on a Timber Stand Improvement team, so we cut down a lot of trees. On our days off we went for hikes. In summer of 1979 I hiked to the top of Medicine Bow Peak, where I saw a marmot crawl out from under a rock to chirp at me. It was late summer, and there was no snow on the trail. I spent a lot of time in those mountains. Cross-country skiing in the winter and hiking, camping and fishing in the summer.
Hi Bob, thanks for sharing your story about your time in Medicine Bow's mountains. Sounds like you really made the most of your time in the area. My first visit to the Snowy Range was in 1992 for fishing, hiking and camping. I'm pleased to say it hasn't changed all that much since my first visit. Cheers!
Thanks! I've tried hard to make my voiceover sound more natural. I know I still have a long way to go but hopefully I can someday be as calm as Bob Ross. It's something to aspire to at least. 😀
I'm curious what your coworker says. My first assumption is most outdoor enthusiasts from Casper would definitely be familiar with the Snowy Range. But I'm looking at the map and thinking folks from Casper are located with relatively easy access to the Bighorns and Wind River ranges too. Lots of great outdoor options for them. Cheers!

I live in northern Colorado and these mountains are part of my stomping grounds. Love the Snowy's.
