Thanks for the SHOUT OUT. Even the NA sounds good in 2nd with your foot in it. lol
It looks and sounds great. Congrats, keep up the good work.
Robert DIY I love it when timeing belts break on Volvo’s I love watching Volvo’s die 👀
wow i didn't expect to see you comment here! thanks to you and your videos my S70 is still running solid!
You Deserve man, you've helped me out a couple of times with your videos, an even makes me think of selling my volvo v40 2.0t and replacing it with a 850 t5 or an v70R classic. Greetings from the Netherlands!
💪😍👍
I was in a crash in one of these. The car that hit us was totaled. The 850 barely noticed anything happened. It'll always be one of my all time favorite cars for that.
"The story of the Volvo 850 is a story of survival." Yup.
@Supreme Leader Spock these were actually some of the first cars to have crumple zones
@@aaroneaton7412 Walked away from an accident that totalled by 850 Wagon, too. After that, I've only owned Volvos as dailies.
@Supreme Leader Spock These have crumple zones, airbags, auto-retracting belts and the seats mounts will also absorb impact. Way ahead of other manufacturers. The side impact protection is second to none.
I got rear ended in my 850 by a saturn, minor scrape on the paint, didn't even file a claim as his car was the only one with any real damage
ironically had the opposite experience, rear ended a beetle (lol) that slammed on its brakes for no reason, it was pretty much fine, maybe a ding and i think a plastic piece popped off. my 850 lost a headlight, front end was pretty crumpled, radiator leak. still ran and drove but effectively totaled. i only paid $800 for it and had a lot of shit going on (was literally coming from a funeral) so i just let the tow truck company keep it. however, i will say i barely felt the crash and do believe these suckers are safe and great cars in general.
This is the car you drive when you're a kingpin in a multimillion dollar international meth empire and you want to avoid any suspicion.
That was a V70 - aka the wagon variant of the S70.
@@justinclark5078 yes but remember, wagons are a little less ubiquitous compared to the sedans. so what's a meth kingpin to do?
lol, i used to think he just really liked the car. but if he did - he wouldnt need a fuckin meth empire
+Vracktal is it??
The 240 is the car you drive when you're a former kingpin in a multimillion dollar international meth empire and you have to travel cross country to save your former student.
My 94 Volvo 850 got me through 2 of the hardest years of my life. Ill never forget her. ;(
(skiz) Mine was a 96. ditto.
Mine was a 95 same as well
Same, also, it was fun. Mr. Regular is wrong here.
The basic 850 sedan is forgettable.
The 850R wagon, on the other hand, is a GODDAMN LEGEND BOOM YEAH BABY JALOPNIK CAR OF THE YEAR FOR 57 YEARS
Volvo 850R Estate: The Sup-sup-sup-SUPER MARIO BROTHERS 2 BABY of cars.
850R: The ultimate sleeper. Tuned right it'll waste most 'dudebro' cars
closedcl8 a dunkey reference here?? props to you
the best is the 850 T5-R in the colour "T-röd".
Wat
Needs to be a T5, R is just not enough
"ITS TOO REGULAR" Screams man nicknamed Mr.Regular who owns a youtube channel called Regular Car Reviews
I thought the channel name was a poop joke
So forgetful that I even forgot this review I'm watching.
Seriously though, the 5cyl sound is some of the best available.
Yes, that sound is great.
odd cylinders are like fisting before breakfast. apart from in every single detail.
WTF is wrong with you guys? 😂
@Idiots Out Wandering Around Neither is raw dogging the neighbors wife while he's at work but it doesn't mean its not fun
Honda had a 5 cyl too
B5234FS was an engine only produced for Thailand. American N/a 850's had a 2.4L engine making 168hp. But we forgive you. It seems like all UA-camrs that haven't actually owned Volvos get things wrong *cough* Scotty kilmer *cough*
scotty kilmer gets everything wrong, thinks a toyota is better than a volvo in reliability. fuck him for that.
@@alexstromberg7696 I agree. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks he is some notlrmie that doesn't know anything.
There were two versions of the NA 2.4 engine in Europe at least, one made 140hp the other 170hp guessing it was the same thing in the USA?
That's what i thought, i thought he was joking when he said it made 144hp lol
@@wetlettuce4768 the Euro 2.4 was 10V, the american one is 20V. hence the power difference.
Mr. Regular's farts are getting ANGRIER.
We need more BROOOOOWN
They demand blood sacrifice
They are starting to MAKE DEMANDS
It's almost time.
That was a healthy sounding fart right there.
Far from forgettable, this car has one of the greatest interiors you can find in a car, ever.
Especially with the pealing dashboard and plastic wood...
No they suck.
@ Not a surprise because American cars are horrible. But in a German car the fit and finish is still excellent.
My brother has one. And everything is falling apart inside. Headliner is coming down. Leather padding on the doors are off, glove box is gone, windows dont work sunroof won't work. But the engine is bulletproof.
My -97 S70 has an interior in excellent condition still, it is Not poor
I love the original interior of the 850. As the s70 it lost it's edgy, blocky, thick look.
My favorite Volvo! Especially loved the R. One of the best 90s cars ever made. That 5 cylinder sounds amazing.
I have a 95 940. It's the worst car ever
@@kniveznor1 but it's not the same
2:56 dammit I thought my video froze
REALFART
Honestly one of his best efforts too.
It's a 2.4, the turbo was a 2.3. B5254S. Non turbo made 168 horsepower. The 144 number is only for the 10v motor Canada got in base models.
Those 5 cylinder engines sound good. I can't believe it's over 20 years old. I'm getting old. God.
And as long as you change the timing belt on time and don't let it overheat if you get a coolant leak and do regular maintenance, they are bulletproof.
They rev like a motorcycle.
Steve Varholy lol.
@@benno_360 250kmi easy on the inline 5 cylinders. Often much much more. They are a great engine. I only got 150kmi out of the "legendary" BMW inline 6 2.5L.
We have customers at our shop with volvo 5 cylinders with over 300 K miles on them.
Holy shit this really hit home for me. My grandma, who has advanced Alzheimer's disease now, used to have one of these back in the 90s and early 2000s. Riding as a kid in the back of one of these down the boulevard to her lakeside home after a day of errands, palm trees casting huge shadows, where you can practically smell the chlorine of the pool you haven't even jumped in yet on a hot summer's day. Man, what a time. The car has been passed on now, hopefully to someone who appreciates it like I now do, but never did as a kid.
I had an 850 wagon that I loved, and it spent tons of time in the mountains and even an autox. The sound is the best when coupled with the manual.
What people in America probably don't realize, is that over here in europe the 850 had a significant motorsport history. They were there first people to be drunk enough to race a Estate because Volvo. Also they have up to 170 hp over here with the 2,5l (idk wether that engine was available in America).
My senior prom date drove us to the Greenbrier Hotel in this car. She was by far the most talented pillow princess I've ever been with.
The 850 turbos were used as police cars over here in the UK so when I see a plain white 850 I assume its owner is a police cosplayer.
Volvos have alwasys been police cars in sweden, if you see a grey xc70 now you always slow down, and everyother family owns one..
@@alexstromberg7696 this... And now you have to watch out for white V90 CC too!
@@TheMainCore we only have one of those in my city I think, it's a marked v90 too so no problem.
Police got sneaky where I live they stopped using unmarked Volvo S60s and I've seen them using crazy things like a Golf R, and Focus ST you know the kind of things we all like to have a drag race with lol.
Even your police cars are cooler
Definitely one of the best uploads! Our long-gone, red 1993 850 GLT was what made me appreciate Volvos (and the sound of 5-cylinders) back when we got it in 2001. Now, I've had a red 2001 S60, since 2013 with almost 264K miles, and she's still running strong. The S60R review was what made me subscribed (the same year I got my S60 lol)
i have never been this fast to click on on of your videos
me too
Same. But then I watched it and my soul was crushed a little. My 850 Turbo wagon isn't a boring car lol
same also. 850s are probably one of the best value used cars you can buy. i had an $800 '95 and it was great til an old lady in a 2000s beetle slammed on her brakes in the left lane of a highway for no reason when i was coming home from my grandmother's funeral on black friday a few years back (true). 850s, especially the non turbos, usually had reasonable humans for first and even second owners and the few problems they tend to have (frequent timing belt changes needed, pcv system, dash lights gettin fucky, fuel pump, etc) aren't too hard or expensive to repair if you have a handful of tools and a day or two. if you're having someone else do it and don't know a guy, they are expensive to repair. hence the very low used prices. i guess the a/c system does tend to be a fucker though. of note - the 95s, and I believe even some/most 94s, were some of the first cars in the world to have OBDII ports. in NJ, all cars older than 96 are exempt from inspection basically due to lack of OBDII ports. which is part of why i got one for my beater, best of both worlds. and I MISS THE GREAT STOCK STEREO AND 6CD TRUNK MOUNTED CD CHANGER so much
@@brandonyoder67 Same here. My high school Friend's turbo 850 is what got me respecting volvos. Its also the car that got me interested in racing when he embarrassed a mid 90's mustang (yeah i know, that's not saying much)
Robert DIY is one of the best guys on here
He's still legit
Here is the official car of the pastor of that church were just old people goes.
Isn't that every church
Unitarian Universalist, Episcopal, Lutheran.
Pls review my 1998 V70 T5 it's the same as this 850 but with 240hp and a 5 speed manual and its a WAGON like the norse gods intended
W-w-w-wait. Had to pause for a minute. Are you insinuating the engine sound of that inline five cylinder is Not enjoyable?!
@ when your POV has all kinds of scorn for the VW Jetta of all things, but elevates a land barge like the Town Car, an I5 like this stood no chance. I was pleasantly surprised by even the NA version of this engine.
I love driving my S40 purely because of the satisfying shifts and mini-V10 sounds
The most important part of a Volvo is it's meant for tall drivers. Asian cars are meant for 5'7", Volvos are meant for those 6'2"+. Nothing is a reach and it's comfortable
And there is enough legroom to operate pedals with big and clumsy winter boots even with big feet.
I don't know about that, I'm 6'0 and I can't say I fit well in my Volvo, if I was even an inch taller (or when I wear boots) I couldn't really drive comfortably
@@EmperorNefarious1 Which Volvo? I've been in pretty much every model between 1980-2000 and fit great in them all at 6'4"- admittedly I like the seat reclined a little more than most tho..
@@OfficeNinjaGraphics P2 V70, honestly it might just be my body type, I've got long legs, and I prefer to sit up straight. but even so, I wish the steering wheel came up a bit higher, its right up against my legs with the bottom of the seat at full tilt back.
@@EmperorNefarious1 can't you reposition the steering wheel? Or does the p2 v70 not have that?
I weirdly love these for some reason. It's like it's the perfect "regular" car.
How very... regular.
850 owners; don’t forget to drive it like you think you are Rickard Rydell
Godwind Racing yeeessssss
ToCA Touring Car Championship has the Volvo S40 but, yeah, they're basically the same AFAIK.
Is this a white refrence?
- I like to think Jan Lammers + Andy Wallace + Earl of Bute = 1988 Jaguar XJR9
Just picked up a manual 98 V70 Estate with 100k original miles .. love this video even more now lol
I will never forget the winter blizzard along the Minnesota/Canada border that my 1995 volvo 850 got me through. It was the event which made me realise just how well engineered these cars are. Out of cell phone range at night for hours in a raging sub zero blizzard, this car got me from War Road to International falls, in conditions where there was NO margin for error. Ice covered roads and almost no visibility- It was just me and the lumber semi trucks on the road that night as I blasted Autechre and held on for dear life. I will never, ever forget it.
850s and first gen 70s are the best value cheap Volvos right now. Old bricks have started to appreciate and become rarer but these 5 cylinder Volvos are still cheap and will last until gasoline cars are banned.
Unless it's a pale yellow T5R😂
I can't find too many 850s for sale near me!
I grew up with my mom having a gold 5spd 850 turbo wagon. Sure wasn’t forgettable to me and she still talks about that car 25 years later.
Roman was really psyched about Bohemian Rhapsody coming out, wasn't he?
Today I learned that Bohemian Rhapsody kept the only decent Christmas song ever made off the top of the charts. I'm talking about "I Believe In Father Christmas" by Greg Lake, of course. "The Christmas we get, we deserve..."
You mean me?
An 850 T5-R has been my dream wagon for... like 4 years. It’s gorgeous.
Mr Regular, you should stop listening to your car providers' technical info :D Either it was imported from Thailand or it's not a B5234FS, that's the only market where N/A 2.3 were sold. And 144 is the power of the 10v 2.5 N/A:
-B5202S/FS: 2.0, 10v, N/A, 126hp, not available in north america
-B5204S/FS: 2.0, 20v, N/A, 143hp, not available in north america
-B5234S/FS: 2.3, 20v, N/A, no idea of the power but probably above 144hp, only Thai markets
-B5252S/FS: 2.5 (actually 2435cc), 10v, 144hp, not available in north america
-B5254S/FS: 2.5 (2435cc), 20v, 170hp
-B5204T: 2.0, 20v, turbo, 210hp, only for markets with tax above 2.0 (like Italy)
-B5234T: 2.3, 20v, turbo, 225hp
-B5254T: 2.5 (2435cc), low pressure turbo, 193hp.
That car's more than certainly a 170hp 2.5, because it's the only N/A north america got ;)
that is sorta of what i was thinking. i was confused to hear an NA that wasn't with 168 (for those that think 170 isnt accurate). i have a 99 b5244s with 170hp in my s80 which is actually not that bad. it keeps up with a 325ci convertible, just barely though.
I'm so glad you finally did a Volvo 850, I was actually debating on emailing you to come review my 850 T5 Wagon. 300k miles but still has plenty of life left in it, by far the most reliable car I've ever owned, and made me a Volvo fanatic for life.!
Someone has t say it. Dear RCR, for years, i have been a loyal fan of your work you made my cry from laughter as well as shed a mantear for the times passed . But lately, with all the track going and stuff , sorry but the videos are not as good as they used to be, i dont know is it the humor the lack of those great philosophical remarks or something else , but it just doesn't feel the same.
I hope everything is good in your life and your work but please bring that old spark back i dearly miss it.

Is it that shocking that a 97 850 sedan was manual???
for the US, it seems so.
In the US, especially
I see them all the time
In Norway it's shocking if it's an automatic
You know what, I think it's a handsome car. Cool? Maybe not yet but it has the iconic look to get there.
The 900 Series looked similar, but was better since it was RWD
i've always liked the way 850s looked, especially the pre-restyle ones.
I'm going to go out on a limb that the sedan and the wagon are two of the best looking cars ever.
The proportions are perfect (none of that sloped hatch nonsense that wagons today have almost without exception), and the angled body is quite aggressive yet still classy. The rear end and taillights have aged amazingly well - especially on the wagon. Perhaps most importantly, there's nothing in the design of the car that makes you think it may be superfluous or decorative only for the purpose of adding 'fanciness'. The lines are incredibly clean as a result.

@Lane I would hardly call almost 350,000 miles nothing... Not too many vehicles can brag about regularly surviving that long without a rebuild or running on 50/50 gas/oil mix at that point.
I take it from the way you are writing that you had to go mad to reach that feat of endurance.

volvo 850: the official car of "i'll just have a plain cheeseburger... with no cheese" "you mean a plain hamburger" "IS THAT WHAT I ASKED FOR?"
why do all Americans think of Volvos as hipster car? they will live longer than all your Toyotas. Also, there is no "850G" they are called Turbo, T5, R or T5-R. You also got to drive the slowest of all 850, most have 170hp, still slow but better than the 140hp.
and miles better than the brrr... 126hp 2.0L N/A. Abysmally slow.
Because Volvos are freaking hideous and hipsters can't afford to drive borderline commercial vehicles.
@@Markworth only an American would call volvos hideous, 850R look really good with some nice wheels.
That is not a good looking car. It looks like an 80s car, complete with spoiler designed for snorting coke off of.
At the end of days when the last man goes to turn the lights off for this world, for the last time, he will drive away in a Volvo. :P
Volvo. The 500,000 mile+ car
Laughs in Mitsubishi.
Volvo has the world record though. Aaaalthough it's a car who has had several engine rebuilds and whatnot
Haha not the P1 platform
Toyota issues recall on every '91 Camry because, seriously, you should have bought a new car by now.
Volvos are very durable but they come 3rd in my estimation. Both Mercedes Benz & Chevrolet (General Motors) trucks will easily go 500,000 miles.
Now I am motivated to take the B5*t and do something fun with it. That is a BEAUTIFUL engine sound.
If you want to play a fun game: look for the OBDII port on a Volvo 850
Haha it was in the center console in my V70, was it there on the 850s?
@@ConnorBlikre Nope! It's next to the cigarette lighter, of all places - Why? BECAUSE VAWLVUH
@@Mikey-xz4vn unless it's not, because you scored unlucky and got the one with the OBDI under the bonnet haha
I love this guy - this is a classic example of not getting it. He reviews a 25 year old brick and complains it's too square. He reviews the naturally aspirated version and put it on the track and complains it's too slow even when T5s and 850 Rs are abound. I owned 850s, turbo and NA. I own modern Volvos now but I'd own the car reviewed here and drive it with pride in a heartbeat. I miss the simplicity of the good ol' 850. It's still a beautiful car and you can't beat the 5 cyl resonance of the 850 and it'll last forever with basic maintenance.
Damn... that's too bad you didnt drive a t5 or an 850 R. It will turn all those opinions around in a heartbeat. And that NA engine doesn't put out 144 hp. And it's not a 2.3L either. Little things like that makes me wonder...
my '98 V70R is available should he ever make his way to the bay area again
This is the official car of being so old and uncool, that people think that it’s a new trend and they need to buy one…
1997 Volvo 850, the official car of "Yeah, I use Reddit, but I only browse r/all"
"this car looked more 1992 than 1997" Well yeah, they were RELEASED in 1992 and just facelifted in 1993 for the '94 model year, unchanged until 97. Duhhhhh.
The 850 had the proper run unlike the 240 that was first released as the 140 in 1966 and stayed around as the 240 until 1992. It looked so ridiculously dated in the 80s and 90s.
i had a 1997 850R wagon, it was sleeper AF
I dont understand why people complain about the power output because of engine size...Pretty much the whole range of engines in this car is either 2.3/2.4/2.5-litre 5 cylinder.
2.3 "R" had 250bhp which was VERY fast for the time (158mph top speed).
2.3 T-R5 had 240bhp (a 7 second overboost from 225bhp) and 155mph top speed
2.3 "T5" had 225bhp and 152 top speed
2.5 20v low pressure turbo had 193bhp
2.5 20v na had 170bhp
2.5 10v na had 144bhp
Those top end turbo engines were designed by Volvo with input from Porsche, and you can pick any one of those engines listed above and all of them will do 300,000-400,000 miles turbo or no turbo.
RobertDIY's the man! By the way, that is a 2.4. B5234FS was a Thai-market engine, never sold in the US. NA 850s only used a 2.4L engine, the turbo models had a 2.3 in the US.
I guess you could call it a forgettable car for people who would ignore Volvos, but I love the P80 Volvos. They're some of the greatest cars ever made. Sure, the interiors creak, but the engines will go on forever and they're incredibly safe cars. Need to change the timing belt every 100k miles? So what, better than what needs to be done on most other cars in that time!
It's more interesting, sounds better, and way more fun to drive than your basic Camry of the mid '90s, which is WAY more forgettable. Of course the turbo models are much better and more interesting, but the NA cars are cool if you can find a manual one.
"the turbo models had a 2.3 in the US."
Actually, my low pressure turbo has a 2.4 and slightly higher compression than the 2.3 turbo- from the factory. I don't know off hand if all the LPT's were the same.
@@nickb3968 That is true, LPTs were 2.4. However only 1997 model 850 GLTs were LPT. Earlier models were NA. Now expanding to the later 70 series cars, 1998-2000 S70/V70 GLTs were 2.4 LPT as well. I have a '98 V70 GLT and a 2000 V70R, which is a 2.4 HPT. Only year and model to have that particular HPT 2.4 engine.
My family had a 240, I inherited it to my chagrin, and my dad bought a new 850 Turbo wagon. At the time, that car was really something. I wish I still had that car in new condition. I've been an unwavering Volvo guy since I finished school, have no desire to change.
I love how this car looks almost exactly like the kind of car I would have drawn on a piece of paper as a kid whenever anyone asked me to draw a car.
That's true 🤣

5:11 There aren't many european cars that were only available as an automatic.. I can think of a couple but it's rare.
the problem is americans
Smart cars. That's pretty much all I can think of.
There weren't many European cars that could match this level of comfort, safety and dependability for that matter. I won't even start about US cars of the day...cough...cough...so today a dull Grandma car? maybe...Sweet ride back in the day and still is? Hell yeah!
over here in europe they are common as Manual and Automatic, just the mericans that didnt seem to be interested in the manuals
Yeah I found that a weird comment. Why would it not come with a manual?
I’m Swedish and a friend of mine bought a 97 blue GLT with the 170bhp 2.5l which had done 380000kms for $650. Ran without issues for two years despite taking a real beating since we were 18 yrs old. Really great cars and dirt cheap to own. He ended up selling the car for $700.

I swear I haven't seen one of those in forever, its weird how those went away.
Been waiting for Mr. Regular to do an 850/S70 for a while now. Instead of getting some NA beater version of the car, get a T5 M56 Manual or an 850R. Or a ‘99-00 V70R. You could’ve also touched on how these cars have a near cult status following.

I've owned a 93 and currently have a 94 850. The interior in both are were crumbling apart. But they drive great. Volvo has always been the red headed step child of the car world. And that's why I still drive this thing. They just keep going.
All Volvos remind me of that time I was at Wendy's and I was eating at the SuperBar and I saw this post-menopausal lady, she got on top of the SuperBar and just dropped her pants and started queefing on everything she was queefing on the garbanzo beans, and then she got a turkey baster and just filled up her snatch with some old pool water and then just queefed again and again and again and again and again
I think we've all been in that situation, at one time or another.

Mr Regular talking about the car while driving on a pretty tame track in a pretty tame car like he's piloting a spacecraft
I like the 850. The R version is definitely a future classic. I’d love an estate version
When the Highlander song kicks in, you know it's gonna be a good car.
Volvo's are pretty forgotten where i live in the middle east. Volvo's used to be more popular back in the 80's. Last april, I saw a Volvo 940 GLE and was surprised to see a survival.
arabs only care about german cars, because the are "status"
@@alexstromberg7696Japanese, Korean and American cars are pretty popular over here. It's just that European car brands are often associated with being Money pits and hard to find parts for. Not to mention some dealerships being awful.
German cars do carry that stigma somewhat but no were near the likes of British, Italian and French cars.
@ It depends on the person, nowadays some people say that Japanese brands are bad and that Koreans are better, some says Japanese are the best in everything. Some people say that American cars like Crown Vic and such are reliable. Some say that all American cars are overpriced garbage. Some people say that German cars are well built while others talk about how expensive it is to repair over the years. I constantly see car and even non car people argue about which brand is better.
Seriously. They better then look at the Polestar v60 or the Xc90 or s90. Those are some really gorgeous cars.
I don't know if anyone has brought this up already, but in the UK, the Volvo 850 is legendary because of it's involvement in the BTCC. Seriously, if you've never heard of it and you want to see how average the estate version of this car was as a hard-core, focused racer, give it Google. An estate touring car... Marvellous!
You did mention it!
Note to self, watch the video to the end before commenting...
I have an 850 and I'm commenting this before watching the video. Concern is real...
Also, my 850 was the 96' model with the b5254s engine (2.4L N/a I5 - 168 hp 162 tq) with a 5 speed and it's pretty food fun to drive. I use it for autocross and am going to VIR next month with it. The timing belt and dashboard quality joke is true though...
My ex had a 95 Volvo 850 with the exhaust sheared off right behind the cat causing that 5 cylinder NA to ROAR LIKE THE BALROG.
It was also the car that taught me that a mic stand really doesn’t make a great breaker bar when trying to remove a tire that’s had far too many ugga duggas.
"Dude texting "you up" to a married woman at 3:00 in the morning..."
I had to chuckle shamefully, as I've been that guy.
First car was a '97 Volvo 850 GLT with the Winter Package. Loved it so much.
BEST 👏 CAR 👏 EVER 👏
Sometimes:)
Imagine telling someone in the late 90s that the 240 would become an expensive cult classic.
Volvo’s are great cars. I love mine. Expensive to maintain, but they somehow impart this subdued level of snobbiness to its driver. We know we’re better than you, but rarely do we talk about it.
this is actually a pretty funky 850. no heated seats, leather, premium sound, wood trim and a manual gearbox
Absolutely love the 850, yeah, even this non-turbo, absolutely stock model. I would absolutely drive one.
You know what, I think it's a handsome car.
Damn... I always thought these looked pretty cool. My fam got a Silver 97’ with grey interior, looks much better than a white one with tan interior
I miss my slightly souped up olive green manual T-5R wagon every single day.
When I see these I think of the BTCC versions. *IF ONLY*
Then it’s a track day BROLVO.
I have a 1997 850 estate, and I am in LOVE WITH IT. For context, I’m 16 and it’s my first car, and this car could not be better then for what I want, safe as fuck, fun to drive, a manual, and a Volvo. I’ve loved Volvo since I was able to know what a car was, and this car is special to me.
Volvo 850: A car so white bread that you don't compare 850's to white bread, you compare white bread to 850's.
My aunt and uncle have had the wagon version of this car since the mid 90s. It still runs reliably enough that they trusted it enough to drive from Vancouver, BC to Eureka, CA when we had a family reunion there over the summer.
I really like the 850, grew up with em.
I've had two, and I'm gonna have more. Solid bang for buck, bulletproof as all hell and comfy as fuck.
plus the satisfaction of being a bit of a hoon, hitting 60mph in 2nd gear, smashing it into 3rd to the backdrop of a hint of backfire and getting to hear that 5 cylinder work its way up trough the revs again is second to none.
Roman, please remember to light a candle on me birthday.
Hey . I was a kid that started a 2-stroke airplane , then flew it ! We did that a lot.
wow waking up at 5:30 has its perks
i love volvo
Goddamn that sounds like a Viper
5 cylinder engine. Same firing order as the Viper's V10, giving it that sound and the nickname "the poor man's V10". These N/A engines also scream alot more than the turbos.
Baron Riasaka yes, the turbo cars have no real exhaust note. The NA cars have a great “fruity” exhaust bark. They rev like motorcycles and make their power up high. Also one of the best handling cars I ever drove. Fantastic brakes. Maybe I need to buy one
@@777jones Get yourself a good performance exhaust and you'll change your mind!
My S60 sounds glorious.
I have always said my v70R sounds like half a viper xD
