  • The KTLA newsfilm collection at UCLA consists of cut and unedited stories, outtakes and fill footage, originally shot on 16mm reversal film stock with magnetic soundtrack. Some footage, particularly material not used for broadcast, may be without sound.
    Title: "Los Angeles City Council debates rent control." Date: July 17, 1980.
    Summary: Reporter Tony Valdez covers a debate amongst Los Angeles City Council members regarding rent control. Councilman Arthur Snyder talks protecting those that can’t help themselves, and that rent control should not extend to luxury units. Howard Jarvis also addresses the City Council. Clip includes reporter’s voiceover (no picture), shots of City Hall and footage of Council members eating during the debate. There is also roughly two and a half minutes of footage that belongs with the story covering Union Station, FM8896. Segment includes Governor Jerry Brown and Mayor Tom Bradley signing papers, reporter’s voiceover (no picture), shots of Union Station, passengers and an Amtrak train, and Bradley speaking to the crowd.
