I’m a Liberian who been living in the US for over 30 yrs. My dream is to travel the world. I received my green card in September 25, 2020…booked a flight that very day to go to Dubai. The visa application process is very stressful!! Would definitely spend that on a passport to the world. Worth every penny!! Congratulations!! Wish you the best!
I guess I'm fairly lucky I have a fairly strong passport in terms of were I can visit. Shame I can no longer travel to the EU with my driving licence.

a good citizenship is definitely such an overlooked blessing. I was born a Chinese citizen but naturalized as a Canadian citizen. I’m thankful for that every day. I love Canada

True but also he said it was some kind of donation I don't know the us Tax system but here in Germany donations can be written of the tax so they basically won't have to pay 90k in taxes now
@@CharlyDerKater it’s basically the same. 75k that yes theory paid is also a business expense so it was always gonna be deducted from their taxes. Then his personal $75,000 is considered a donation and gets written off of his own taxes.
We did pay for it in a way, well half of it. They used merch earnings.

I met these 4 guys from Yes Theory last week in Paris. I walked into a Lebanese Restaurant to order food for me and my friends and I saw them sitting around a table. I was litterally staring at them when I walked in cause I recognized them and I couldn’t believe it! I was confused, but at the same time I started smiling under my mask. 😂
I’ve then turned my sight to the counter and I saw the two restaurant’s chefs laughing because they knew that I’ve recognized them haha. After that I turn my head again and I see these four guys looking at me with a big smile! I didn’t wanna bother them while they were eating so I went outside to wait for my food to get ready. But then they walked outside too and I approched them asking to get a picture. We had a really nice conversation and they were so humble and generous, as you see them in videos. Love you guys! ❤️✌🏼

I am from Nepal and I can understand the pain. I am in Japan rn and I envy how my Japanese colleagues just buy the ticket and travel anywhere whereas I would have to submit even a copy of my last year's bank statement just to get rejected for the visa. 😂

Having been born in Iran I know exactly how Ammar felt. Even though you never did anything wrong in your life you are being met with such skepticism and bias that at some point I developed extreme social anxiety and clawing my way out of that was a fight that I don't wish upon anyone. When I turned 16 I finally received a passport from a European country and Ammar's video showed me once again how blessed I am to have received this gift of freedom

Wow. I’m from another caribbean country that also does the Citizenship by Investment program and have heard so many naysayers about “selling our passports away to God knows who.” This video really put into perspective that there are good people out there who are restricted only because of where they happened to be born. Do you realise this guy is kind of unique. He's probably like the only Egyptian in history who managed to do it and only thanks to financial support from his European friends.
The main issue here is that the passport bough like that is being used by Chinese and Russian agents & spies who are trying to sabotage Europe.

I travel loads on my British passport and I've never once given a single thought to how easy it is for me to go through borders, other than to get annoyed at having to wait for an hour. Learning how difficult and dehumanizing the visa process is for him, then watching him just go through a border without an issue like I do, and breaking down because of it? Really hit me hard. Congratulations Ammar. I wish you nothing but mild inconvenience at the border from this day forward :).
yep...a lot of us in the west take our passports for granted. Im from Australia and I remember visiting many countries and many times I come across 2 lines at checkpoints -one thats visa free and others that need a visa...it is kinda dehumanizing when you see this
As a Canadian, I feel the same. Never had a thought about how fortunate we are.
I'm from Spain, and I took it almost for granted (specially in the EU) but with the covid restrictions I realized that it's not that easy to go through the borders. Btw I know it's not the same situation as Ammar's
I actually don't travel much on my Singapore passport, but I have travelled to many different countries where the passport allows me to get into visa-free lines, which is something that I should appreciate.

Amazing video. Makes me feel incredibly guilty to have both an Australian and UK passport - and my UK passport has never seen the bottom of a stamp. There is also something rather absurd about the fact the only difference between Ammar facing interrogation at every immigration port, and being waved through, is $150,000USD. Shows how much of a farce the global migration/visa system really is.
It's a prime example of money opens doors for you.
And the countries with the weakest passports also tend to have the lowest incomes. Coincidence? I think not
it is a problem. Especially those former British Empire Carribean countries are serious security loophole. Actually whole Europe is a giant problem.

As a guy who has just lost his country in March (I am a Russian citizen and haven't been back to Russia since the invasion of Ukraine started), I will have to go through similar things very soon. I am a bit jealous but absolutely happy for you guys :)
People underestimate how great it is to be born as a citizen of a nice peaceful country.

@@cherylibarra1253 it is a bit different, I am not going to buy citizenship, we will try to get it through one of the quick citizenship programmes in Latin America.

@@mnl4455 Argentina. We're going to give birth to our baby there. Fingers crossed. It takes 1.5-2 years to get passport for parents after baby is born. But it only takes couple months to get residence permit. Newborn is getting Argentina citizenship immediately after birth.

As a British passport holder who has recently fallen in love with travel this has reminded me of the privilege of a powerful passport. Furthermore my Egyptian friend who settled in the UK following with his fathers entrepreneurship visa was recently approved for UK Citizenship so this video is particularly touching as I know the excitement first hand
As Canadian travellers, we have spent the last month learning from Moroccans what it is like to travel with a non-Canadian passport. It has been so eye-opening and what a reminder of the amazing privilege we have just by being born in North America. And then to watch this 😭. All those adventures and border crossings that Ammar had to miss or go through uncomfortable questioning…. MAN, we are so unbelievably happy for you to put that in the past. I'm a US citizen but I live in Germany. The immigration office has always been very kind to me; they've never questioned the legitimacy of my documents, they're very clear with what I need to bring, and all of the surprises have been positive. It really grinds my gears when fellow Americans complain about having to do the absolute bare minimum when my colleagues from, say, India had to jump through a whole bunch of hoops to even get here and then be forced to do it all over again.
Just a reminder that the west is superior in every way.

As an Austrian (currently 3rd strongest passport in the world) this made me cry like a baby 😭 I never realized how privileged people with strong passports are - not only for travelling, but it is so sad to hear that Ammar had to miss so many important events back home and could not see his family and friends for such a long time. I am so happy for you that you can return to Egypt now, Ammar! Can‘t wait for a video from Egypt (and hopefully also from your new „home“ St. Kitts and Nevis)!
I remember seeing you first upload “why I can’t return home for 7 years” 4 years ago, and I just felt immense panic and sorrow for you. I couldn’t imagine being in your position and having to face the restrictions and limitations that you were met with. I guess it’s due to watching ammars journey for so long and seeing just a slice of the pain and sacrifice he had to go through in order to achieve his goal. I relate so heavily! It took me 20 years to be able to leave America at all and return to my home country (all due to a clerical error). That feeling of entering and exiting an airport with ease is worth all the lawyer fees and all other fees incurred

As a Vietnamese citizen, I can never forget the numerous panic attacks I've had getting through the borders. Despite having already acquired a valid tourist visa, I was threatened and accused of horrible things. These border officers are not only aggressive, but they treated me like a criminal. They went through all of my belongings, through my phone and my notes...
I hate that this type of discrimination is acceptable. So so so happy for you Ammar. Thanks a bajillion for sharing this journey with us

It is really messed the difference in how people are treated. I once entered a country without the necessary visa (completely my mistake) and due to my British passport they just let me in.
Sounds like you get a harder time even with all the proper documentation.
Same problems for Indonesians like me. Unfortunately, our law forbids us to get 2nd citizenship. We will automatically lose our Indonesian citizenship.

As an Irish citizen, I never understood the privilege of booking a flight, arriving in a country, and they are friendly and wave me through no questions asked. I then worked with multiple nationalities in Singapore and they explained how difficult it was to travel. I couldn’t believe it. Congrats on your new passport, many happy years of travel ahead 😀
Fun fact: In the mid '00s an Irish citizen couldn't travel to Colombia without a couple of visits to the Colombian embassy in London to get a visa. That's long changed though.
I travelled around Central America in '06 and it was quite an eye opener to see other people have much more hassle crossing borders. Belize for example, didn't allow Israelis without a visa - the thing is, one of the few direct ways to Guatemala from México is... though Belize. Israelis could take the bus, but could not get off at any point. Weird situation! I believe that's also changed now however.
Anyway, I always appreciate my Irish passport! I've met a few dual citizen Brits, US Americans and Israelis who almost always just use their zero hassle Irish passport :)
Me on the contrary (also the EU citizen), I never understood why this is not a standard for so many other countries, whose passport-holders cannot just go on holiday to any other place with bureaucracy.
This should be normal for quite everyone, you go, show the passport, the accomodation/ funds/ onward ticket or whatever is needed and just get there.
If you make a problem/ overstay your visa/ etc then get deported and banned from ever coming back - but now the world treats most of people as if they were criminals...

I always get a much better response with my Irish passport than I ever had with the UK one. Sometimes they look and say huh, because I'm mixed and look more Colombian/ latino to them but ye much better.

When Ammar broke down crying after being stamped on European soil for the first time, I felt that. As a citizen of a developing country, I only know too well how hard it is to get a visa in Europe and the anxiety of whether or not you will be let in. So happy for him.

As a Syrian, I can tell you that the struggle, the fear and the anger Ammar shows are so real, it's one of the hardest things to know that you're not welcomed anywhere in the world. No matter how kind, educated or successful you are, travelling is a nightmare when you have a bad passport and people will always treat you disrespectfully. As a citizen of Haiti, I share your pain, that is basically my story of every country I traveled to, being asked countless questions while seeing other people just getting their passports stamped and continuing their way. I am so happy for you honestly. I hope one day I will be able to do the same.
I connected to this story in so many levels. First, I’ve been to Egypt with my Egyptian boss. He too had a hard time getting in his own country. We had to give bakahish. Second I know how hard it is to travel with a weak passport. Freedom to travel is so important to me. Congratulations to you!

Finally someone is speaking about how dehumanizing, humiliating, and degrading the visa application process is for us "lesser passports" (African,Asian, Arabic ). They treat you like you're not even human,asking straight up dehumanizing question, having to prove your entire exsistance.
Every country has the right to determine who is allowed within their borders. There is no human right to accessing whatever land you want, whenever you want. It’s hard to properly vet people from countries with corrupt/archaic governments. It’s not the Immigrantion Officer’s fault, it’s the fault of the home country of the citizen.
@@Jim-hk1el Exactly. And the visa procedure is not dehumanising, it is just checking whether you are abiding by the law. Also many African states are applying visa restrictions against EU citizens. I have travelled to several African countries and have spent a decent amount of money on visa fees and procedures.
@@HS-wp5vb "visa fees and procedures" no doubt in some cases meaning paying exorbitant amounts in ripoff money because they know you have money so... they want some of it. TBF each country can charge whatever fees they want but it does get old when you get stuck paying some extra jip of a money grab because they're fleecing every foreigner coming through for everything they can get. I've stopped going to some countries due to this actually.

This vid actually brought tears to my eyes. As an American, I take for granted the freedom I have to be able to travel most anywhere I’d like. Ammar, not unlike many others, does not have that same privilege. He had a singular goal, and it wasn’t a selfish one. He stood and pushed through such adversity. I am so happy for you, my friend. Hold your head high. Your integrity remains intact, and now you can fulfill the other part of your path - travel freely.
He dodged the military service of his own country while leaving it to the other men who have to sacrifice much more. Seems pretty selfish to me.

@@rayres1074 I don't think Ammar is selfish at all. I do think that Egypt does have a harsh military law. If you look at South Korea they also have a military law, but even top celebrities such as Son Heung-min
leave their careers to serve their military as per their requirement and then come back. Son gets paid, $200,000 per week as a professional athlete in the UK and he decided he would do the military service required of him.
Whether you skip or don't skip your military service doesn't paint you as selfish. I personally would never do any time of organized forced military service. Its everyone's choice and I respect that.
Don't bring morality into this because it has absolutely nothing to do with it.

as an *Iranian* citizen, w/ *Permanent Residency* ( *Green Card* ) in *America* , this is pretty much my life
endless *VISA* forms/requests/documents whenever I want to travel anywhere
endless questioning by immigration staff, along w/ being pulled aside into back rooms for repeated questions by supervisors (even when i'm returning back to *America* )
the stress & self doubt & feelings of being just utterly worthless is unbearably excruciating at times
just b/c i was born in a different plot of land. a land that, although i love & respect it's culture & history, i haven't been too since i was 2 or 3 years old.
i'm currently applying for *American* citizenship, & it's been a real struggle, even w/ highly capable legal representation.
however, if it falls through, i'm gonna sell everything & go this route.

@@Andreas4696 per them, they are already permanent residents and have already applied, yet say that if it doesn't work out, they will leave. Unless they committed some crime etc while having a GC, I don't see why it is a struggle (as they say) - especially since they have already applied for the Citizenship.

As an Afghan Passport holder I can feel the pain of getting visa for literally every country and getting nervous at every immigration center. it's so annoying having the world's weakest passport as your only passport.

@@wendigo6667 A NK passport will easily get you through the places that NK people could be visiting, AKA China. An Afghani passport will have you going through anti-terrorist + anti-illegal immigrant + anti-taliban spy hoops for eternity regardless of where you are trying to go. "Small" countries like many of the under developed asian and african countries get the hoops of "we don't have a direct system to check and verify these guys because we never see them usually", but have the normal entry or denial easily enough where you just know. Afghani's get put into red tape purgatory where they get put into limbo forever before being eventually denied for all their trouble.

For real...we have access to 172 country visa free...with our canadian passoport...and somepeople, need a visa to traval all around the world, we have a lot of luck.

@@ut2104 Perhaps. But, speaking as a citizen of the EU, real European here not a swimmer from Africa of Middle East, we are allowed to tighten our relations with whoever we like. If it's not in our interest or if it's not profitable for us, why would we want to give free access to us to some 3rd world countries. We would only create mass migration tsunami that would end our existence. That's why visa-free access works only between developed countries. While we like to visit each other as tourists, we are not motivated to move. We are also culturally and religiously close. If a 100 Canadians move to my city no one will pay them any attention. We won't probably even know they are living amongst us. While if 100 Afghanis or Syrians move in, it would certainly end up in conflict. I can already see them walking around wearing their religious suits all covered up, demanding mosque in the city centre and special treatment while doing nothing but claiming benefits as we see in western European countries. No thank you

As a Sudanese citizen, i feel this pain. I have not traveled much due to the limitations of my passport (blacklisted and among the 4 worst passports in the world) but decided to visit Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam as a tourist. In all these countries I was redirected to some immigration office for processing. I was held up in Phnom Penh airport once for 3 hours despite having a valid E-visa. I was accused of all kinds of things, including being a terrorist and a prostitute. It was only after suffering a massive panic attack and multiple calls to the hostel I booked with (thank god) that someone from there went out of their way to come to help me out. My experiences and difficulties traveling in Asia traumatized me and disillusioned me so much from even attempting to travel to Europe or North America. Meeting backpackers on the road talking about their experiences to just be able to hop on a "night bus" and hop around the "banana pancake trail" was just gutting for me. I had so much envy. However, wherever I landed backpacking, the citizens of the country were always so warm, kind, and inviting which just baffles me.

I think there's a congnitive dissonance that's in the mind of many of us with 'good' passports.
We enjoy the travel and meeting of people - we'd have no problem at all in suggesting meeting up on a reciprocal visit - but then we'll happily support a government that would block that visit.
We can like each individual, but them all in a large enough group, and then we collectively decide we don't.

I am actually working at boarderguard and this is like my biggest fear to discomfort someone entering my country. Sure many people of a certain country smuggle drugs or worse but many also are absoluetly innocent. It's incredible how we are thaught to behave with people who come from far away sometime.
I was starting to miss Ammar immensely, to be honnest. His smile, and his energy, his sheer joy has always made me so happy.
I was wondering why he wasn't appearing so much, and I definitively knew it wasn't by choice.
Seeing what he had to go through, and knowing that I had barely seen a fraction of what you guys experienced, was heartbreaking, and Im so very glad he is now free to travel.

Not knowing Ammar but seeing his life story in such a short video, really opens the mind to imagining the rough and difficult trials of just getting in to another country. As someone who travels with a Philippine passport, I could totally relate when you were talking about how condescending the whole process of going through passport control is. I always have to prepare so many documents and I’m almost always met with suspicion and invasive questions even when I’ve traveled more than 20x outside of my country and have never done anything to warrant that kind of treatment. It’s dehumanizing and depressing to be in that position, and I totally understand the tears of joy and relief that flowed through you when you finally got through passport control with no incident. Congratulations again, Ammar. Well deserved.
