I make a prediction for iPhone 16 Pro: New design.
The regular 15 has infused colored glass, the Pro doesn’t.
That’s cause of the Lidar, which is under glass, not under lens.
So they’ll have to add a lens, which would look awkward, so new design.
You need to add speedometer benchmark which is relevant to most people who just do simple Web browsing
Hey, instead of comparing $1000 and $1700, can you compare 16+512 m2 vs 8+512 M3?
Can you make a review of macbook air m1 13inch vs macbook pro m3 14inch ? Coz they both have similar two nand chips inside.
I'm afraid a comparison between the MBA 15 with 512GB of storage and the MBP 14, "matching" features, would have been better.
the ssd on the 512GB M2 MacBook Air is the same as the 14pro. Blackmagic ssd speed test scored 2,935
@@bigboyg209So basically if I want a 16 gig of ram and a 512 gig ssd and don’t care about ProRes then I should just go with the 15” MBA over the base 14” MBP?
Isn't he just highlighting differences between the base models? If 256 ssd is a big negative, then so be it. Add it to the cons list. Remember this vid is about price difference being worth it between base models...
@@bigboyg209 it scored higher than the m3 pro at 512gb only on my 15 inch MBA
@@MusclesBeatsby how much?
Thanks for the video. The issue with the SSD is known for a long time, a comparison with the 512GB Air would hence have been more interesting. Also for many RAM-intense tasks a 16 GB Air would actually outperform a 8 GB Pro model yet it would be cheaper.
Yes, I am about to buy the M2 air because of the sale for the 15" and I am getting the 512GB because of the problems I have heard about with the lower storage. I am wondering about the difference just from curiosity
Just got a MBA 16 GB 512 on sale and likely it’s coming close to the M3 base numbers but it’s a beautiful machine
You missed the point of the video...
@@olivergasior8005 still slower CPU, GPU, less ports, worse screen, no HDR and no 120HZ Pro motion.
@@olivergasior8005how much was the sale and where?
Amazing job!! Appreciate the videos.
Great vid, thanks. I am wondering though, if you would recommend upgrading (from M2 Air to M3 Pro that is). Except for the screen, sound and battery, I am leaning towards the upgrade because of those extra HDMI and SD ports (plus one more USB-C if I go for pro chip). Colour gets me excited too, TBH.
I’m chillin with my M1 MacBook Air 💻 base almost three years later and I’ve still never had any issues.
Other than it being a dust magnet and hard to keep clean looking.. but that’s any laptop you use as a desktop.
Great reviews. The M3 is a solid upgrade for anyone jumping Intel to Apple Silicon late.
Nice video, but the one i'm waiting the most is the M2 PRO VS M3 PRO base model & RAM STRESS TEST (18GB VS 36GB)!!
base model m3 pro will be better but if you go unbined (12 core vs 12 core) then multicore score will be the same which makes the m2 pro a better value.
Great comparison video! The analysis of design, ports, display, and performance was spot on. Impressive to see the M3 MacBook Pro handling heavier workloads
The speed difference between M2 and M3 is small. The 15 inch Air delivers a bigger screen with a roomy and low typing deck for maximum comfort. It does all this in a thinner design still lighter than the 14 inch MacBook Pro. Both are great but the 15 inch Air is just sexier. Add 24GB RAM and 1TB SSD and you have the perfect MacBook.
I'm not paying $2,200 for a macbook air lmao
@@Striker50_ To each his own... I have one and I love it. It replaced a 2019 16" MacBook Pro and I never skipped a beat. It's faster but with much better portability. Comparing this to a 16" MacBook Pro with at least the same specs and it's $800 less.
No joke I’ve had the base M1 MacBook Air for years now and not once have I seen the buffer wheel. I forgot what those even look like. All M-Series SoC’s are kinda unreal performance wise.. then to top it off they keep using less power as they get way more powerful.
Home run. Qualcomm’s newest chipset is pretty amazing as well but will always be overworked due to android having to work on like 30,000 different devices whereas iOS/MacOS have like 15 or less.
Apple all day, flying first class 🖐️🤚
Stupid comment… it’s better pay $2200 on MBP 14in M3 Pro
@@alex-marques If I needed a MacBook Pro, I would get the 16" M3 Max at $4000. If you really need more performance why sink money into the gimped M3 Pro? Get the M3 or the M3 Max .. the M3 Pro is for suckers.
Would love to see this comparison against the upgraded MacBook Air no more Ram just 512 ssd and 8/10 core m2 since that is the standard 15
I’m keeping my M2 MacBook Air. Has great performance great battery life and it works perfectly. Wouldn’t get a bigger laptop since it would make me feel like I can’t travel anywhere with a 15 inch laptop. The 13.6 inch MacBook Air is the perfect size for me so I’m gonna keep it for a while
Thanks for great reviews man! Appreciate that
M3 MBP 14” is only 40 grams heavier than the Air 15” and feels way more portable. I tried them and Pro clearly next level as an all rounded device. I was about to get an M2 15” Air but not now. Even the base Pro with 16GB RAM is all over it
And here in Australia, the same spec 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD for the 15” Air and 14” Pro is only AU$200 or about 7% different
Really enjoyed the video, I recently got myself a MacBook Air M2 13 inch for my first semester in college and it’s has been amazing literally does and has everything i need, it’s a great a device and can’t think of any complaints. Higher recommend if you’re thinking about getting a macbook but don’t need the latest and greatest.
Should’ve done the 512GB M2 Air vs the 512GB M3 MPB…
I think the point was base model against base model.
Right, the price is closer too. Should do 16GB ram with 512 GB.
@@babyyoda6771 I wish there was a base MBA with 16 GB!
@@kwrzesien17 yeah I think 8GB of ram these days is pretty low even if MacOS can use it more efficiently than Windows. But if you only open a few tabs and do basic tasks it could be fine for some people. You can get a m2 air 16gb ram / 512 GB for less than $1400 sometimes. Still cheaper than the m3 MacBook Pro base model.
There is no point, otherwise the overpayment for the pro is completely ridiculous
The outcome is as expected as was the conclusion to the video. Really looking forward to seeing the M3 Pro MBP comparison video when you guys get that laptop.
But we know that the M3 gets hotter than the M2, so Apple will need to do something seriously about the thermal throttling issue on the next Air, but would they reintroduce the fans to reduce that? It would then defeat the purpose of the whole point of an Air though.
@@HypnoticTonic-fc5ku Yeah, I'm not sure. My only thought for what they'd do with the current M3 lineup is have the best thermal pads to dissipate the heat and use the N3E node to help keep the system from thermal throttling like it has when it was on the 5nm with the M1 & M2.
The exact two models I'm interested in. Thanks for such a thorough comparison.
what are you thinking of going for? I love how light and thin the air is, but I'd also love the complete cutting edge too
Thanks for the comparison! I wish you'd included the 15" MacBook Air for more of it, particularly I was curious to hear how to speakers compared, and also I assume it would struggle a little less with thermal throttling.
As several others commented, comparing with 512gb storage MacBook Air would have been interesting, for SSD speed, and especially to put in perspective some of the price difference.
If I was changing my laptop (2018 MacBook Pro) now, I'd be hesitating between 14" M3 MBP and 15" MBA. I want the bigger screen, though also portability (about same weight so it's just the size/footprint difference), the performance difference probably isn't very significant for my usage though I'd probably need at least 16gb ram to handle the insane amount of windows & tabs I have while writing papers + often while in video call meetings (I'll be curious to see how much of the performance difference fades away when the MacBook Airs are moved to M3, which I expect to happen this summer before back to school). So it's been screen size+portability vs speakers+display (brightness, 120Hz). Ports are a nice bonus but not hugely important (and I wish one of the USB-Cs was on the right side, on both devices, as there is on the M1/2/3 Pro/Max MacBook Pros).
Its great that Figma is part of you're review but I think a more realistic test would be to have 3-6 of those Figma files open and a few backgrounds apps running. Especially with Chrome and Slack open. Closer to a real life workflow where you're bouncing around an number of different files with web apps in the background you're working on.
If you do multitasking with memory intense apps and/or use bigger files and/or many files you need at least 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD. If you use the max performance for a longer time, you need a fan or wait longer to finish.
Should have included the 15" MBA to see if less thermal throttling than 13", and compare all 3. Also, in general best to state which version of MacOS and all units should have the identical version & rev
cant really decide which suits better since it would be my first macbook
I dont really know how much of a difference the 8core and 10core gpu makes on the m2 macbook air
with the 10core, Im at roughly 1900 which is only about 100 less to an m3 macbook pro base model
adding the extra RAM to it adds around 200 to it so total about 2200
what I like about the pro is the extra ports for sd cards and hdmi bc I will probably need these a lot and
having to use mulitple adapters for this would get on my nerves
MBA looks like a better option to me if you upgrade its memory up to 16GB and the storage to 512GB. But I am still considering the M3 pro instead, specs are great and it would future-proof better than the MBA would. It is the bigger size and the looks of the MBA what is driving me crazy.
I am literally in the same boat!
Problem is by the time you have upgraded the ram and the SSD in the MBA your not far off the price for a MBP....damn apple
what do you think future proofs it more than the 512 16gb M2 MBA? In the same boat but not seeing the real attraction
@@thinktank35 I ended up getting the M3 Pro as I will use it daily for programming and rendering. If you are not into these kind of tasks I'd go for the MBA with the exact specs you mentioned, it is still a super powerful machine
You talk about 8 core cpu 10 core gpu, but if you continued to test against the 15” they have the same amount of cores and would get an accurate comparison, especially since on average the MBA 15 is 5% faster due to better heat dispersion from size and surface area.
Please compare macbook 14 M1 pro vs Macbook m3.. should i upgrade from m1 pro to base m3
Can you do if the m3 max 16 core it’s worth over the 14 core one ?
16:30 - Correction: EEVEE render engine is not hardware accelerated raytracer. CYCLES is and it uses MetalRT to fully utilize the capability of hardware raytracing. In Blender 4.0 this function is enabled by default for M3 series of chips. For M2 it is an option, but it uses software mode.
Compare macbook air m2 16/512 vs base macbook pro m3
Obrigado pelo vídeo completo e esclarecedor!!!
Hey you guys, his reaction to the sound quality is genuine! @4:59 the sound quality of the M3 14" is superior to all other laptops! I heard it in a best buy store from a model on display next to the M2 Air 13 and 15 inch. I compared it to the ipad pro 12.9 speakers, then i frantically compared all laptops in the entire store, including windows pc, gaming laptops, surface pro 9, chrome books, etc. The only devices that came close to this M3 14" were the 16 and 17 inch windows gaming laptops and they still weren't equal to the sound quality. Only the 16" MacBook pro exceeded the sound quality of the 14"! It was reminiscent of the handheld portable boombox radio devices of my adolescent youth many decades ago. I desperately wanted it just for that reason!
Great, clear and to the point, thank you
Do you know if the keyboard size is any larger on the MacBook PRO 14" M3 versus the MacBook Air 13" M2? And what about the key travel/depth and the touchpad - is there any difference between the two? And is there any more space between the keys on the MBP versus the Air?
Jeez 😩 i really thought the m2 pro vs m3 pro video would have been up next. Also very interested to know if the unbinned m3 pro is worth it over the binned version
Need comparison between Base model 16 inch M3 max vs 16 inch M1 Max with around similar specs please 🙏🏻
For those who value form factor the 15" MacBook Air with extra memory and storage is the sweet spot.
The comparison I was waiting for. Thank you Max tech team.
This was the video I was waiting for
Great comparison, thanks!
Can you please do m3 16gb MacBook Pro vs m2 pro MacBook Pro please. Great comparaison video, loved it!😊
Please make a vid about m2 pro and m3 pro. These chips will probably launch in Mac Mini as well and i’m very curious if it’s worth waiting for or if I better go with the current m2 pro mac mini!
Great content as always!
For the first time, I've got two blazing hot Macs, which I think will probably be my last (at age 71). My main machine is the 15" M2 MacBook Air and it's gorgeous. The screen makes doing work, surfing and watching videos actually relaxing. The 13" M2 MacBook Air had been my main box since it came out, and it's terrific, but the smaller screen was tiring for my old eyes. So the 13" is now relegated to being a backup lapis that I take with me on vacation. Being a backup, all my data from the 15" is periodically backed up to the 13". I had been using a 2015 MacBook Air for this duty, but it's now in a drawer, being fully in reserve in case one actually dies. Still a very useful computer, so not ready to part with it just yet-
I wonder what you use those macs for good sir at your age. Aren't you tired already?
👍👍💪 yessir!
I wonder which might deliver the better screen experience for old eyes: the 15 inch M2 Air or the sharper screen of the M3?
71? Mate. You’ll have a few more yet. Unless you live your life balls to the wall!
@@vivekkaushik9508 why not, what should old people do, roll over and die? watch tv all day? sit on a chair in the yard (if possible)? good that he's keeping up with the world ... i for one will use devices with screens until my eyes completely give up :))
Not sure about your conclusion. If these machines are almost identical in rendering FCPX projects then the M2 Air is more than just a "browsing" machine. I'm torn between the M2 13" Air with 24 GB ram and the macbook pro 14" with 36 GB ram - mostly due to the fear of fan noise (and if pro is overkill). Will be mostly editing on FCPX, CreateStudio and ScreenFlow. Anyone? :)
Con you compare it with 16GB and 512GB
I have the MacBook Pro M2 base. Want a bigger screen. Am I screwing myself over by getting the MacBook M3 Air 15in? I edit photos and videos on the regular.
Compare
macbook air 15 m2 16gb/512gb vs macbook pro m3 base because both has same price
Agreed that’s the real test
weight, thickness and screensize vs more port and better screen, more ext display. i would choose mba15 if the performance is similar.
I went from my MacBook Air Intel 2020 to MacBook Air 15 inch 24gb ram & 256 SSD and it was absolute game changer and with it for me! I have iCloud+ and external hard drive for the storage and with the 24gb ram it will last me a long time and love how it’s lightweight even though it has a bigger screen.
Note: for anyone that says “24gb ram is overkill” I use a gaming monitor and connect a lot of cables for Ethernet and HDD drive which goes up to 13-17gb ram in use and with No overload whatsoever and haven’t had it over heat not once! I freaking love it
I don’t think I need to explain further of why I decided to go with 24gb ram
RAM > Storage
Just got my m3 pro with 24gb ram and terabyte drive. I must say it is a vast improvement over my m1 air with 16gb ram and 512gb drive. Running iOS and android simulators is so much quicker on my m3. Well worth the money.
Congrats. It is a very expensive MBP. I have just bought two laptops. A Dell Latitude 6 months ago and a MBA M2 16GB 256SSD 2 months ago. I am not upgrading now to a MBP M3.
But that's a base M3 not a pro, dark gray ? You can only go 24GB Ram.. I have M2 Air w/ 24GB Ram and 1T ssd and just wondering- I can still return it actually, if I should go for that M3, that you got... (?!)
I thought screens werent, that much different, but after comparing them side to side- red color on M2A looks dull in comparison to MBP
I do like slightly bigger screen size tho, and it somehow -M2A feels sort of much lighter a nicer for typing.
Black keyboard and thinner bezel designs are adding noticeable premium looks to MBP over air. however it should have been M3pro chip for all MBP models and not regular M3 even for entry level. I'm sho happy w my m2 air tho!
Can you please review M1 Pro binned 14" vs new M3 base 14"?
How about considering using Parallels with windows for all heavy Microsoft office work? Which one would yo recommend?
Can you compare the 15 inch MacBook Air to the pro?
Does m2 air support 4k 120hz hdr on hdmi? Planning to use on lg c3
For a college student (not a gamer), is the M2 15” Macbook Air (256gb 8gb) sufficient? Its currently $1,044, compared to $1,599 for the 14” M3 base model (512gb 8gb).
CAN YOU PLEASE DO A 8GB MACBOOK PRO VS 16GB WINDOWS TEST?
I am eyeing on MBA 15’ base (1190$ where I live) and MBP M1 Pro 14’ with 1T storage (1499$). I plan on keeping the laptop for 5years from now. Which one do you suggest? Also, should I be waiting for the M3 air 15’ instead?
(I’m office worker, doing very basic stuff, but thinking that the MBP M1 pro might better future proof)
If you wanna keep it that long, base model is a no no, you should at least upgrade to 16gb, for the MBA, which I think in your case would be more interesting, lighter, thinner and silent
@@kasziel That upgrade would cost me 1449$ which is exactly in the M1 pro 14' territory. That's my dilemma.

Please compare 16/512 GB Air vs 8/512 GB MBP. They are literally at the same price $1600 at Apple.

These are useful comparisons. For me, clearly the M3 Macbook Pro is the one to get though yes, according to the other video about 16 GB vs 8 GB RAM I would upgrade to 16 GB. I would also upgrade to 1 TB SSD. On my Mac Mini M1 I find 512 GB to be workable but annoying. I won't be buying yet. I have to see the Surface Pro 10 with the new Qualcomm CPU which won't be until spring 2024 at best (likely not until fall 2024). By that time I will have been able to see where the iPad Pro M3 is at for productivity.
But if you upgrade both ram and ssd, you might be better of just going with the m3 pro chip in that case

Bought 14” M3 pro 16GB/512GB and a 13” M2 Air 16/512 too. Kept the air because the Pro was a heavy thick brick, and the black plastic keyboard felt cheap vs the all aluminum air.
its not plastic its black anodised aluminium. Try the M3 non-pro 14" MBP its as light as the 15" Air.
@@indiekiduk I wanted 13-14” as I travel a lot for work. I had a 2019 i7 MacBook Pro and it was about as thin as an air. The 14” M3 Pro (base model) is much thicker and heavier than a 13” M2 Air - that chunkiness plus the weight and the black keyboard surround… just made it seem like something from 10 years in the past. And first MS Teams call I did on it, the centre got warm and the fan kicked in. No thanks.
As a Swedish student Air M2 with 16 gb RAM and 512 gb SSD costs $1750 and M3 with same config costs $2250.
Which should i choose? I’m an enthusiast but not professional photo-/videographer.
It is personal preference but I think Pro is nicer option because it has more powerful chip and 120hz, XDR miniled screen.
M3 Max VS M2 Ultra?
compare the m3 max to a gaming laprop next?
how speed M3 pro 512GB' ssd(3000MB/s or 5000MB/s??
I tried the M3 14” MBP but returned it after a few days. There was nothing I did on the M3 MBP that I could not do on my M2 Air. Sure, the XDR screen is immaculate, but not so much to justify the expense. I think the M3 Air probably is the right one for me. In truth, I don't need to upgrade at all... but getting new toys is so much fun.
do they still selling Macbook Pro 13 inch with touch bar?
I returned my MBA because what the most annoying is the vents on the side they feel so sharp.
what's the app name in the menubar that shows the temp?
Do Macs have usb ports , I’m new to macs
For me air looks much more premium than thick and heavy pro. Speakers doesn't matter, screen almost the same, performance comparable, battery the same
I would love it if you could get estimates for the realistic time saving based on average times a certain workflow would be done in a month. E.g. How many times does a programmer build their code per month - and figure out the total time savings.
As for programming, it entirely depends on the project and team. My team spends approximately one hour per day per member building a project.
And yes, we’ve calculated the time-saving benefits of updating from MBP 2019 (Intel i7) to M1 Pro.
@@maximeremenko 1 hour per member per day is significant!!
A good review with exception to fan noise analysis. How long and how loud does the M3 get when undergoing these tests. It seems worthwhile to put up with extra seconds of silence on the Air if the M3 is buzzing like a hairdryer.
The fan only turns on if you are doing heavy tasks so the noise is not a difference maker. If anything, you want a fan if you want your tasks to finish faster so it is a pro more of a con.
Thanks for the reply but I'm still not convinced. Take Zoom which is notorious for being taxing on the OS. Does the M3 fan turn on for an hour long meeting. Does the twin fans on the M3 Pro do better at lowing noise? Not much about this on the web.@@bandito241
So, I dont really do heavy video, just stills w/ Capture1 and PS
- should I go for maxed out MB Air 24GB 2TB, or somehow basic M3 w/ 24GB and 1TB ?
I can not see a displays difference, really !? I do like 15" MBA bigger screen and it also feels lighter! And I cant stand dark aluminum finishes of new M3 and MBA : smudges and finger prints - will stay always w/ Space Gray!
Which App do you use for the temperature reading?
Guys! Tnks for Logic Pro test! I think M3(specially Max version) is good chip to upgrade from M1 Pro or Max for music producers. Спасибо за ролики!
Can someone kindly explain to me how noticeable the difference is between the display of the M2 Air and the M3 pro in everyday use (browser, UA-cam, Netflix, Photoshop)?
Can't wait for your 14inch M3 Max 30 vs 40 core comparison. That's the most interesting test for me because the full M2 Max was thermal throttled in the 14 case. Will be interesting to see how much diminishing returns your get with the 30 vs 40 core model especially in the 14 inch. I think the M3 Max 30 Core will be the sweet spot for the 14 Inch regarding battery life, performance.
You could have compared the M3 Macbook Pro 512GB SSD with an M2 Macbook Air with the same storage capacity, which has 2 NAND chips. Would have been much better to highlight the CPU performance diference. Also, make sure to update both laptops to the same MacOS version.
I’m still confused why Cinebench only seems to show 2 cores running for multi-core on Apple Silicon Macs.
Can you compare the 15 inch MBA with 16GB of unified memory and 512GB of SSD vs the base M3 MBP
Still waiting for m3 16gb vs m3 pro 16gb review, that is the real question to ask, is it worth the upgrade
The M3 pro start with 18GB of ram.
Still buying the MacBook Air regarding both the weight and price.
You could also get an m2 pro for 1600 usd
When do you think m3 macbook air will drop?

Please compare m1 pro vs M3 chip
Not a fair test. The differences in performance of the SSD's distort the test. If you make both of them 16GB's of ram and the MBA 512 in storage. How would they compare then?
He is comparing base configs, otherwise, you could start adding specs to the MB Pro 14 M3!
I use for programming stuffs in Python, Pycharm etc etc....which one should I go? I was btw M2 16 GB 1 TB SSD or Macbook Pro M3 Pro 18 gb 1TB SSD. the difference in price are about 1000$
Where do I find the cpu stats monitor you’re using in this?
is thata thunderbolt or usb-c?
sooo someone that works from home (9-5) using about 5 tabs or more - gmail, paypal, google, excel and etc, will be fine or need which one ??
I got the MacBook Pro 16 with 36 Gb memory. >its also my very first MacBook ever. So far, I am very happy.
Please do base modelMBP 14 M1 Pro vs M3 MBP 14
very good comprasion, thorough
I was hoping you would do the MacBook Air 15 inch then all of a sudden you pulled it out and I nearly went wild.
I think Ventura run 2 year in MacBook than any other updates
Awesome comparison
I need compariso between m1 8gb 13inch macbook pro vs m3 8gb thanks
Fingerprints? To be honest, I don't care about fingerprints. It still looks beautiful. I love my MBA m2 midnight.
The MBA has also good sound? I wonder what people want? Monolithic stones?
Based on the your review I would suggest to but the MBA with 16GB RAM.
For the most people the display is already good and sharp enough. Sound is also decent. Speed is also good.
The differences you have mention is mainly due to the bottle neck of using only 1 NAD chip instead of 2.
Upgrading from MBA M2 to the base MBP M3 does not make sense.
Agree the midnight is pretty good looking
Man, I was about to pull the trigger on the 16GB version of the Air which is on sale for $1100.
I totally forgot that 60Hz displays were still a thing, much less the only option on MBAs.
I'm so used to my Asus 90Hz, HP 120Hz, iPad Pro 11/iPhone 15 Pro Max/iPhone 14 Pro (work phone).
That and a Sony A80K... I'm over 60Hz displays.
