I also wanted to say thanks for your great videos, always something to think about. I recently attained Shodan and I think exposing oneself to many different teachers and styles of Aikido is vital to becoming more rounded and building your own Aikido. I actually trained with Azu and Ondrej once before the pandemic and it was fantastic. I like the practical aspect to your approach.
I’ve done everything on my neck like strikes etc nothing works on me until you guys just showed the solar plexus straight punch slightly over my body ❤man I can’t breathe even with just a very very very slight pressure and this is unbelievable man ❤I’m a big strong dude and this is like real dim mak or something plus I got blurry vision with just the pressured touch if you will of my straight fist thx I hope I feel better though
Same roots, totally different evolution. If you think that Aikido is a bunch of movements then you're right, it's like a soft-style. But you would be wrong, that's not Aikido.
O Sensei was big on atemi so it's strange how little we train with it these days. For dealing with strikes and, especially weapons-taking atemi is absolutely crucial to surprising uke and getting them off balance making technique possible by switching their focus to defence.
A lot of the grabs that uke does in the katas can be used to either set up an Aikido technique or more traditional jujutsu take downs. Take the basic wrist grab, you can easily do an Iriminage off that. The direct version with the palm strike to/through the chin.
Palm strikes to the chin do a nice job of putting your opponent off balance. I have great success with a left jab followed by a strike to the temple. Especially with my ham hock fists, grew up in construction, my dad would yell at me to get a hammer, me: I was born with 2!
Sir. First point is for you to understand that martial art like Aikido is a kill based martial art. You swing swords Knife or use spear mace. This is a one versus many fighting style. MMA is for dumb bullies who wants to prove their man hood. A humble request do not prove yourself to MMA guys😊😊
Excuse me because I'm not English spoken so may be some expressions sound rude, is not my intention, it's just a constructive criticism, or a personal reflexion from some decades of experience. There's no aikido attack, there's no aikido defense. If you understand what means AI and what means KI you can't think in terms of attack or defense, the trick is the AI. And that's why all of this is impossible because if somebody in the world would be able to apply Aikido in physical terms would be god, simple unbeatable no matter the size, weight, speed or skills of the attacker. It's a dream that we can follow, sometimes we can have a very short moments and touch with our finges the glory, but it's just a flashlight, that's the (never ending) DO. I accept we need kyus, belts, a trainee program to study it with some structure specially the first years, but today Aikido is known as probably the most "bullshido" of all martial arts, we should think why because is our responsibility. In my opinion we accepted any strange dance as Aikido too fast, give black belts to anybody with a very basic knowledge, let them to teach what they don't know and that's the perfect coctel to get what we have now. I'm not talking about the authors of this video, just generalizing. Obviously if you want to test your skills in any kind of martial art or combat you need to be attacked in a realist way, under that perspective we need to learn as better as we can kicks, puches, etc. But that's not an Aikido attack, is just an attack. The way tori will use to manage that will determine if he is doing (or trying to do) Aikido or other thing. For example you can ask uke to attack in yokomen uchi so you'll expect for a right attack, angle and direction, that's right, we must teach also what means that form, how to balance the weight, etc. But when you reach certain level, if you still need to be attacked "in the right way", the you're knowledge about Aikido is zero, you just learnt some physical movements and that's all.
Actually as far as i know Morohei Ueshiba (the founder of Aikido) said that Aikido is 70% Atemi (aka strike). But modern sensei doesn’t teach you how to strike, i think also because back then people who practices aikido are trained soldiers or fighters who are experts in other martial arts or also mastered combat training (basically someone who has experience in an actual fight… even war)
“If you’re seeking trouble it will follow.” If you’re enlightened & seek peaceful coexistence then it too will follow.” The choice is your attitude & sub-consciousness.”
an aikido attack is when youve had too many bean burritos and your hakama is bursting at the seams, meanwhile the dyed goatee and ponytail is not counterbalancing it so you have to make another shitty action movie

Very effective insight provided. Definitely helped me at work before I retired
Just tactically changing your stance is an attack, If you're a counter striker, you initiate them to strike you by changing your stance.
Cheers to the dynamic duo of Aikido Flow😊
Nice to see you back again!!!
Great information guys … always walk away with something either for training or for defense - thanks
I like this channel and you guys. I feel really educated each time.
Ha, 10 minutes👌👌👌 nice. Perfect philosophy too when you say an attack is what you say or think it is. Good stuff👍👍👍

Great video as always.
Yes!
Aikido is a soft style of aki jiu-jitsu
Painfully true
It is basically post war aikijujutsu
But Aikidoflow Aikido is more like the latter art .. (fortunately) .. KEEP GROWING, AIKIDOFLOWERS!

If you give the person a way out, and the don't take it, go first.
Palm strikes are more powerful & covers a large area to attack.
Btw I’ve even been pepper sprayed to test with a Sabre and it almost blinded me but this straight punch thing to the solar plexus is worse

The attack can start before the 1st punch is thrown.
This is better than any Krav Maga ❤or anything I ever came across

Real fight has no styles, rules or else..... Its depends on two things...
1:- save yourself
2:- must defeat the opponents
Is there actually an Akido attack?🤔
Substitute a bokken with a cane

So, Aikido was an additional martial arts to those people who experienced actual combat or fight or battle
This is why I carry a 42inch long combat cane

I love aikido flow, but please let's get back to the principles of street fighting disarm, bats,Kali sticks, let's blend it with shotokan karate
Judo Or B.J.J ?
Judo.
@ebakindeji5941 why not both if you had the time and money
I prefer judo because it focuses on getting you opponent on the ground whilst staying on your feet, unlike bjj.
@@ebakindeji5941 I want both
What about Japanese Ju-Jitsu?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Burger-do🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You might want to write a short script/notes before you film. Too much waffle.
