Few of us get enough sun. And even if we take vitamin D, we still need the sun for at least 20 minutes a day. We also need fresh air. Sitting in an office or working in a store breathing recycled air all the time is not good for us. Put a chair out in your yard or on the front porch and just go out there and sit sometimes. Don't even take a book or your phone with you. Just sit and look at the trees, the sky, cars going by, the neighbor's cat, or what have you. Just chill on nothing. Your brain will love you for it.

I'm one of your older subscribers at 72. I gained weight during the pandemic while sitting around and worrying. After that, my husband had a serious health scare and eventually two hip replacements. Through all this I continued to put the pounds on and became very careless about our diet. A couple of months ago I decided I had to change. I cut out all refined sugar, chocolate, diet sodas, and bread. We quit eating out so much and aren't eating as many processed foods. So far I've lost 14 pounds. I just set a goal of 1 pound a week. That's doable for me and gives me a continual feeling of success and I'm already feeling the results in my joints. The hardest part was just getting started. Good luck to you in your endeavors!

@susanf4857 Here's the type of things that cause me to lose sleep. Last night a girl and her friend (we don't know either of them) that was with her knocked on our door, and said her brother had run away from home and she wondered if we had happened to see him walking down the street by any chance. I'm guessing they live on our street and guessing that they went door to door trying to see if anyone had seen him. She showed us a picture of her brother from her phone. I know these types of things happen all the time and usually end up getting resolved by themselves, but it upset me that her brother had run away, and that they were having to go to neighbors to try to see if anyone had seen him, and so it took a while before I could calm down enough to go to sleep. I was worried about him & his family.

My husband and both lost weight. No aches and pains. No swelling in legs and feet. Blood Pressure and heart rate is normal. I got off of anti depressants for headaches! No more acid reflux! Sleeping good. We have had so many good things to come out of it.
I was just going to try it for a couple of weeks with my husband until I started loving it.
It's not that expensive. You are not eating junk, which by the pound unit is way more expensive. No expensive sauces, sides and processed foods. Less food prep and clean up. (TIME)
Dawn and everyone that is having health issues. I CHALLENGE YOU TO GIVE IT A TRY. If only for a few weeks. No it's not a piece of CAKE (no pun intended). It really does get easier every day. You soon will not think about food as much.

We were using it as an elimination diet. To see what was causing issues.
We started to feel so good on zero carbs. We kept going.
We have started to add things from the garden. Cabbage,, mustard greens and herbs.
We have been getting strawberries for 3 weeks. We eat them fresh 3-5 per day each.
      Mainly we eat:
      Sardine
      Eggs
      Grilled Meat
      Roasted Meat
      Cream and cream cheese
      Cheeses
      Butter
We noticed when we added tomatoes or even Keto bread we started having joint issues.

We needed to move to Houston and lived in a small apartment for him to receive daily treatment. They were wonderful. My husband is 75, but didn't want the side effects of surgery if it could be avoided. Your husband's situation may be totally different, and he needs surgery. I'm just encouraging a second opinion.

I have found that if you find an activity you enjoy you will continue it and it won't be 'exercise'. If it really grabs your attention and you are passionate, food won't matter as much and you won't want to eat as much. As we get older we don't need as much food. Eating less can also benefit our budget too. Buy high quality natural in less quantity. I also take a daily multi vitamin to ensure all the nutrients are accpunted for.

It also records how many steps I take, but only if my phone is on me so often the steps recorded are not accurate because I dont always have my phone on me, for example, when Im cleaning.
I find it helpful, though, in being mindful of what I am eating and doing during the day.
Also, I can record my water intake

it is much more easy to start moving after I get out of bed and good to take a contrast shower after you warm up a little.

I can totally relate to your night owl situation especially at the moment where i had an early morning appointment with my therapist only to find out when i got to the clinic she had put down the wrong date on my appointment card. So here i was tired with a bad case of heartburn and waking up every hour or so to make sure i get up on time for my appointment while if i had been sleeping at night regularly i would have been up early enough to do what needs to be done with welcomed ease. Night time is a beautiful peaceful time but there are ways to make the day peaceful too with things like headphones or playing relaxing music or podcasts over the speaker at a comfortable volume etc. Lately its been a real pain because the minute i get comfortable being in night owl mode even with getting all my sleeping hours during the day things suddenly just get busy and am like what the heck man. Also staying up at these hours when things do occur during the day its harder to deal with routine problems such as my heartburn or acid reflux where it takes longer to deal with compared to it going away pretty fast thanks to sleeping properly etc. Also getting out for walks tend to be later during the day as well as doing chores like food shopping where i have to rush before the supermarket closes etc. Its like everything gets delayed and pushed back and interferes with the other getting done in a crowded atmosphere.
On the making time with god or whatever your faith is it definitely makes a difference in conditioning the mind and spirit to deal with the day in a much more positive matter. I love to meditate in the morning and or evening which helps to clear my mind and realize all things can be dealt with in a positive manner and there is no need to feel overwhelmed. This is also why i write down on my Calander all my appointments and things to do like trips to the pharmacy etc so i can see it in a physical form and realize oh there is not that much to do today or this week.
Yep being a friend to yourself is one of the best ways to guide yourself in a caring compassionate way which will carry over to how you treat others. Many times i will imagine present self as a child and that other voice that friend as some wise ancient guide who reminds what i should or should not be doing, what heathy foods to enjoy and the consequences of eating unhealthy. I also will call up memories of past friends and family playing them like a tape in my mind as if they were actually here as they tell me words of wisdom flowing with humor or a caring warning that i should know better then to engage in so and so activity.
I always go on walks at least three to four times a week enjoying all the parkland in my neighborhood. Also naps almost every day really make a difference in keeping my mind crispy clear and my body refreshed and invigorated.
Thanks for the great helpful and timely video and hope things get back on track for you in as comfortable a manner as possible💙

On a personal note, what has helped me get rid of about 90% of my hot flashes is cutting out the sugar and junk food. Eating raw veggies and meat. Not eating 4 hours prior to bedtime. I have zero alcohol ! And I’ve cut back my coffee to just 1 cup in the morning.
Not having all that estrogen as we get older is fine. We don’t need it. We’re not having babies anymore and HRT has been linked to some cancers. So I never would do it.

Hi, Dawn, most people have a weak side… so do I, the night owl… 🦉. There is no law against it, but I feel my inner law, saying: waste of time and health. It’s doing nothing good to me, but it’s a habit. I’ve changed a lot of habits during my lifetime, so there’s another one… if half of the day is gone, before you 'start your day', it’s easier to procrastinate: moving, healthy cooking, finishing work… and TOMORROW becomes our favourite word. Daily moving is my plan, every step counts and 10 minutes are ok. Love, Monika❣

Half of WHOSE day is gone, your day is your own, you get 24hrs in each one, why does it matter which ones you choose to be constructive in?? other than going to a dr appt, or work or if you have kits etc it does not matter if you clean house at 3am or 9am, like I commented earlier I always go to bed at 4:30am and get up around 11am, and I do just fine, I prefer it, I have always felt off kilter getting up at 6am and doing stuff to "get done before the day is gone", I myself choose when my "day" is....I am a night owl forever!

We were not active enough and especially not doing enough strengthening exercises. We now spend 2-3 hours outside every day, rain, wind, cold, heat whichever to exercise outside. There’s a saying, the biggest health risk in your house is your couch

You are a great inspiration to us out here. Thank you for your videos. One thing I have to do for myself is to not feel bad that my productivity is not what it was 20 or so years ago. That really gets me down! Like you say, be kind to ourselves!!!

I’ve added lots more salads to my diet; cut up hard boiled egg in them too. Eating a light supper rather than a big dinner. Taking time to call friends. Gardening now that Spring is here. Then spending time outside! And best a of all spending time in my Bible and with the Lord.

    Staying in negative relationships,
    Be it family, friends, romantic,work,etc
    Procrastinating.
    It makes things worse.
Bouncing from thing to thing, you're all over the place, wasting so much time and energy, and yet doing nothing.

I turned 59 in February this year and I’ve been doing or feeling everything you’ve listed here. Your video is great.
I could have written that myself.
I’m feeling older too, getting aches and pains, and I’m feeling the cold weather more (Australia autumn and heading into winter) and I shouldn’t stay up as late as I have been in recent times.
    Just can’t do that anymore.
    I’m a 1965 older model (not a teen).
Your video has been a very welcome timely reminder for me to start looking after myself better. Thanks.

I’m a little older than you sweet lady, on the event horizon of 60😊. I was always a slim, lean and healthy woman all my life and lost the baby fat after my three children were born in the 80’s. When I went through menopause in my early 50’s, I noticed what’s called weight creep. I gained 30# and was constantly tired and not myself.
To correct this problem, I cut out all sweetened drinks and drink only plain water (from the tap). I went back to my health weight of 110# in four months.
You can do it. Good health is everything. It gives one better sleep, energy during the day and a better desire reach for those wholesome, nutritious foods.
Take care and blessings from North Alabama.

True. All skinny folks are not perfectly healthy. This is where genetics come in. If your family has high cholesterol, you're predisposed to it. In my 40's, I went through a through medical check up. High Cholesterol, high BP, was diagnosed with a chronic genetic heart condition. I weighed 117 lbs, worked out 5x per week, ate low fat, lower carb. Being obese also has disadvantages, joint issues, cardiac issues etc. In some cases you can't win.

Dawn, try getting ready for bed early, lay down, get into the mindset of going to sleep at a reasonable time.
No, Dawn,4:00 in the morning is not reasonable.take a hot bath before bed.
    It helps a lot.
Drink tart cherry juice.this helps with insomnia, which you likely have.you don't need an elaborate routine.
