- I left my babies for four days to go to Virginia Beach! Watch to see what we did, and also some modest oufit ideas that I wore while there. Sorry if you were looking for swimwear options. I didn't film any of that. I usually wear a modest tankini or shirt and shorts when I go to the beach. I feel perfectly comfortable with that on the beach, but maybe not so much on the internet!

I never thought about this dress style being "modest" but I guess you're right - it is compared to how some dress now days. I dress like this too, it's far more classy not to show everything.
I’m a native Virginian, born in Virginia Beach 62 yrs ago. I am not a huge fan of the oceanfront there, the crime and riff-raff is much more prevalent these days which is very sad! At one time it was fun and not so sketchy. As for the planes overhead- my dad was stationed in the Navy there and is now a retired veteran so those Navy planes have a special place in my heart!! They sound like FREEDOM to me. ❤️

it’s so crazy how different mennonites can be from one another. like i had no idea some do things that others don’t. i was babysat by a mennonite family when i was younger. in my small town in louisiana, the mennonite women wear their own dresses they make. & the men where jeans & casual button ups almost always haha. they didn’t even own a tv. & from your “assumptions” video i learned that some do & some do not. going back to the clothing, i rarely see them wear dresses that are considered trendy or store bought. it’s nice to get educated on different religions & their lifestyles. new subscriber!

I love all your clothing choices! I dress somewhat modestly (I used to dress very modestly, veil, skirts/dresses only, and always sleeves). I have found with age that I am more comfortable moving around and going about my day if I know my clothes are covering me and serving the task at hand.
I am not a Menonite but i am a Christian and i love to dress modestly and i can't stand some of the outfits that are coming out now a day. I have all Nieces and we are all trying to dress properly and modestly .... Thank you so much for your vlogs - love them and appreciate the time you take to do all your videos. I don't wear makeu either - just becuase it's crazy expensive and not necessary . I think women are beautiful the way God made them and they don't need makeup but that's me. lol. i really need to learn to sew!!

I hope you enjoyed your vacations without kids and came back full of energy. I love most of your outfits, especially the navy/white striped dress. My favourite is your blush pink skirt and white-tee. As you're tall and slim, the paperbag waistline suits you perfect. Your lace burgundy dress is just perfect for more formal occasions : elegant and comfy. I'm not a dress person and it's always a problem for me when I need to wear a dress for occasions. As I live in Europe , I can't buy this one, but I'll try to sew one similar for Christmas and for my daughter's graduation next spring. I follow you and you're great inspiration. God bless you.

We live in El Paso, TX and we see many more Conservative Mennonites who make their own clothes. They come here to shop at Walmart, Home Depot,etc
They live in the mountains in Chihuahua and are well known for their cheeses. I also think of you when I see them.
I remember you mentioning their are a wide spectrum of Mennonites.

The WEIRDEST thing... I’ve been watching you for about a year now. And I could have SWORN I saw you in town center in Virginia Beach. I wanted to say something SO BAD, but here I am, watching a video about you being here. (Gordon Biersch is in town center, where we live a mile from). Glad you enjoyed it here. We don’t do the oceanfront at all - but there’s always something going on, even during the winter. Great outfits! PS: my husband is military, and YES - when I used to tell people it’s all military here - nobody believed me. Then they come here and comment about EMS and military everywhere. I promise, it’s not all that bad. The oceanfront is (why we don’t go there) but the town center area is lovely. ❤️

I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly known as Mormon) and I dress modestly. I am a very small person so finding modest clothes can be challenging. Thank for the tips!
Yep! You need to take a break from the kids. Being a couple for even a few days is incredibly important for longevity in a relationship.

my daughter is not much younger than you (23 yrs old) and we have spent so many hours looking for modest clothes over the years as my kids went to private Christian schools where it was required to dress modestly....she prefers modest like you. Thanks for sharing the clothes on you so all can see.

Megan Fox Unlocked It was so awesome! The back story behind it (which you weren’t aware of) was actually pretty hysterical. I grew up fascinated by the Amish and Mennonite communities, and my parents took me several times, from our home in Massachusetts, to Lancaster Pa., to visit and learn. My dad would joke that I would probably move there when I grew up. Haha. Well, not quite, but I did switch from the Catholic Church, in which I was raised, to a conservative Baptist Church, where my husband and I raised our 9 children. Through a homeschool group, I met a woman who was raised Beachy Amish, and I was so interested to hear about her life growing up in Ohio.
So, when we pulled in to get ice cream in Virginia Beach, my husband spotted you first and asked “ is that woman Amish or Mennonite?”, figuring I might know. I said “ Hey, that’s Megan Fox!”, to which he replied “that is not Megan Fox!,” ( he was of course thinking of the other famous Megan Fox 😃)
Anyway, he proceeded out of our vehicle to get our ice cream, and as he passed you, he heard me call “ Hi Megan!”, and he turned to see you and your husband walk over to our car to say hi. If you could have seen my husband in line at Dairy Queen so confused, I think you would have been VERY entertained! It really was so funny, and so fun!!

The whole Hampton Roads area is military. VB is home to NAS Oceana, jet squadrons. I was stationed there years ago as an aircraft mechanic.
I totally enjoyed this video...interesting take on VA Beach! I took my two teenage girls there as a single mom several years ago, and to save $ we camped (with a tent!) at First Landing State Park, which is about seven miles away from VA Beach.The campsite was just on the other side of some sand dunes, so we heard the waves all night, and we played on the beach after dark with a light-up Frisbee and glow sticks. So fun! There was a shower house too, btw.
Also, we checked out nearby Sandbridge Beach, which was a totally different scene since there was no boardwalk -- only beach houses and little shops.
Next time you go, check out Captain George's Seafood!
P.S. I think there are bike rentals at VA Beach.

The farris wheel you were on stands in the place of what used to be a restaurant where my husband & I had our first date over 29 years ago. Also, if your looking for a more relaxing beach vacation the Outer Banks of NC is great; very family-friendly.

I used to live in Chesapeake VA, there is an Aquarium downtown VA Beach that is really good. But when I lived there, we always went to Sand bridge Beach, it's much nicer than VA Beach, and alot of the locals prefer it more. There seems to be a lot of tourist and crime in the area you guys were at. Also near Sand bridge is an amazing pizza place I suggest if you guys come back called Pungo Pizza, their garlic knots are amazing! ❤️

Just outside VB is NAS Oceana. Naval air station duh. There is also a great medical hospital nearby. My husband was stationed in Norfolk but we lived in VB. I was pregnant with a girl but I went blind with the pregnancy. So i was a high risk pregnancy. Pseudo tumor ceribrei. Due to being on tetracycline when i got pregnant. So i was referred from oceana to Portsmouth. VB is crazy with crime. We lived there for 3 years and drive to the beach 1 time but never even got out of the car. Lol glad you had a great time
