Racer X Films: 2004 Honda CR250 Build

- VP Racing Fuel’s Kyle Moose found this 2004 CR250 in decent shape. It was taken down to the frame by Terry Varner and rebuilt from the ground up. Terry explained that he worked on improving the bottom and mid-range with his engine modifications and he let the FMF exhaust help the bike to rev into the stratosphere.

My buddy had an 02' cr250 ported by varner with the same fmf pipe and silencer....He convinced me to try it out and wow the engine was ferocious.
Sick, these rebuilds are so much better to see than the new MX models that come from Japan, shows how much can be got out of these bikes and how much could have been developed from then to now, good work VP, Vital and the Ping 👻

Love cam, but there’s nothing really special about that bike at all. It’s all tusk bling and cerakote. No real performance parts.

Don't even want to know how much money was put in this CR, but it looks great! (and it is 2 stroke, not a fourstroke farter) the sound, the smell of a 2stroke. nothing beats that.

Would love to have one but with all the mods on this one i am thinking 8K in upgrades! Probably more. The suspension alone had to be quite a bit but looks like a lot of fun.
It's a little over 8k just for the air A-Kit KYB suspension (forks & shock)!!! 💪 💪
This is easily 12k-16k...could be more??? Don't know specifically what was done in the cylinder & head/engine etc. :)

If Honda came out with the 2007 CR250r today, same technology they left off with and all, they wouldn’t be able to keep them on the shop floor.
I own a 1995, as well as a ‘19 CRF250r but would love a “new” CR250.
All Japanese motocross bikes have had braided hoses since forever. They just cover them in rubber so they don't start peeling like some European manufacturers I won't mention...

What kind of bike did that rear shock come off of?
Polisport now has the restyle kit to make the Cr125 and Cr250 look like the 17 and 18 Honda 450 and 18 Honda 250. Would really recommend doing another rebuild of an old Cr but use the polisport kit

Nice bike, i got a mint cr250 06 with only 30-35 hours, still has the oem tires, havent used it in years, just collecting dust. Is there any value in these old bikes?

Yeah for 00-01 models and 02-07 models. Comes with brackets and 2016 CRF plastics. Check out TXrace.com. I got the kit on my bike

1. What did you end up going with your sag, I know you run them a little squatted.
2. Did they have the stock carb of the PWK (I highly recommend the swap).
3. What did they mix the fuel at? Or is that C12 premixed??

To do it correctly and use quality stuff you're in the territory of buying a new 125. I've seen people do budget builds and still have 6 or 7 grand into a build. Most of the time guys build these as race bikes not to just restore an old bike. For example you can start by comparing wheel set prices. A warp9 set up will cost you a grand or less a dubya set up with talon hubs and dirtstarrs is in the 2500 to 3000 flat range... it just depends on how into it you wanna get.

Is it just me or do yall hate the fact that there's only maybe 45 seconds of riding in the build videos? Seem's like yall milk every component on the bikes, show 30 seconds of riding, milk the components some more, show yall railing one berm then the videos over

Is it me or does DP not like Varner??? Tell us how you really feel Dp… you dont know how to ride Varner power??? He scratches his throat and almost seamlessly dodges the actual power plant. Going through the motions…. Nothing against other builders but you only go to one person and thats Varner!
More riding, less talking. Maybe too many cheeseburgers to blame for the arm pump?
