This has been the first year I dealt with thrips, very recently. I put a ton of sticky traps up and squish the juvenile ones. I ordered beneficial predatory mites but before that I sprayed them with an alcohol mix. I feel like the more you deal with pests the more you learn how to handle them in the future. Love your channel and content 😊❤
You are are so right! When things go wrong it helps to look at the things that still go right, the things that you still enjoy! 🌸 Can you get beneficial mites in your area? I was battling thrips for half a year with little success.. When I used the mites they were gone within a few months with very little effort compares to what I was doing before (the mites eat the eggs and small larvae, the adults will live out their lifespan) Then again in the US you can use systemics, maybe that works well as well 😊 Fav plants….. pfoe… Hoya Calycina (just flowered) Hoya Pulchra (about to flower for the first time) Hiya Erythrostemma splash (always a fav) Ficus Belize Aglaonema Rosy (she hates me though) Passiflora Trifasciata Tradescantia Quadricolor Baby Pilea Peperomioides (I keep a larger one upstairs just so that I can always enjoy a babyplant in the living room) The plants are doing well, some are going into dormancy… though some are still growing now while they had a dormancy on summer
I've been thinking about getting beneficials--I'm pretty certain that I can--but since I'm already using systemic, I'm going to finish off using that since I can't use them at the same time! And then maybe I would get beneficials as a kind of maintenance/preventative measure against pests... but I'm still weighing it in my mind. I love hearing about your favorite plants! A lot of those sound super unique!!
I’ve been wondering about your thrip situation and had said a prayer for you because I know God cares about even things like that, and because you were disheartened in your last video. I’m definitely a bit fearful of getting a very bad pest like that. So far I’ve only had spider mites and fungus gnats… and I’m suspicious that my mom’s giant epiphyllum I’ve been babysitting has scale and/or a fungal infection 🤨 Have you heard of the philodendron Red Anderson? I think that one is supposed to have all the colors! I had no idea the white princess could also get pink…that’s so cool!! 😍
@@sproutswithjoy you’re welcome! Yeah, I’ll be checking Etsy especially come spring to see if I can find a red Anderson with good genetics. Also a H. Wilbur Graves Russia 😍

I'm glad you have some plants that aren't involved in the thrips infestation 🎉😊
Just want you to know that I ALWAYS wave back at you when you say bye-bye!
...I'm gonna need a corm from that alocasia...😇
🙋🏽♀️
I've been black Friday plant accessory shopping but watching this made me want a white princess! 😢 Hahaha
I’m proud of you for still pushing through despite feeling bummed about the pests. Hang in there!!!
1:44 what a stunner 🤩

I too am currently battling thrips in my 145 plant collection 😩. My favorite plants this month are the ones that don’t have thrips 🙂
