I tend to use my knife much more also for removing the stock. I just recently started using the axe more. That is partially due to the fact that my axe still has a thick edge. I will correct that as I have seen how wonderful it is to do woodwork with a small hatchet.
SpartanJohns awsome buddy... check out my fanpage Woodsmansfinest on facebook and check my modified axes. the one in the thmubnail is one of my kent pattern mods. if you need a nice carving axe, let me know. got some mods totally handmade by me, at the moment. there are heaps more tutorials coming from different angles and if you have any more requests for tutorials, let me know and Ill get to it over the next few weeks! cheers
+cr montes Thank you! Please have a look around my channel and subscribe if you like my stuff! I love my vostok and there will be some videos coming up in the Urban woodsman series about some watches I wear and recommend! cheers
I've been hooked on spoon carving for a year now. I do at least 2 a day now, and just got the opportunity to sell them at a local business. I've been at it with applewood and my wrists are taking a beating... any tips to avoid fatigue? I'd hate to use my band saw, I feel it's cheating the end product.
@@suecollins3246 I switched my hatchet to one with a larger handle to accommodate my large hands. The old one required a tighter grip to keep it from turning.
Say Heah, Yeah, I like a Basic Trio Carry also. But I don't carve. I just think it's a good carry in the bush. But just recently I bought my S. O. G. Pillar Fix Blade which I added my 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet and my Wicked Tough Saw. I usually carry my Mora Eldris as my Neck Knife. In colder weather where I need to process more wood, I like to carry my Modde Rodent 6 which I had it thin down at their Custom Shop and I had tge top guard taken off now it L@@Ks like a Ratmandu on steroids. Really a nice piece if kit. With this knife I add my 17" Hultafors Bruks Agdor Hatchet and my new EZ KUT WoW Folding Saw and my Mora 510 as my neck knife. Yeah I like to Multi Carry Knives. Good review, keep up the good work.,,. p

Gabe, I suspect you should re-evaluate your axe technique...

3:35 Gesundheit! 😂
Your camera is _drone mounted_ ?
That's ages and ages ago. Head Mount.
hay can you give me the dimensions on that woodworking/log bench?. Like how many centimeters in diameter is the log?
Have you worked with juniper at all? It's almost all we have here and it's like glass after it cures, hard and brittle.

I did and it is really hard and gnarly but it makes a fine spoon if you manage to carve it! If i have the choice, I dont! ;-)

Is your axe symetrical? Or is it right handed?
SPOON SMITH Hey! Thanks for checking in. Symmetrical... what an old video though... glad I can share better quality footage now!
like the view but very bouncy
I’m assuming this spoon thing has died down after people made a stick to eat?
Still like the grain Work 👍
