are you kidding me... Is that Dave there? what a pleasure to have you visiting!! following you since the very beginning! sorry for adopting that idea from you... seemed to fit just fine for keeping it simple! living in ontario now for a year, crafting outdoor equipment and knives for a living! would be an honor if you stopped by Woodsmans Finest on Faceboook and Instagram! Thank you for stopping by! all the best! cheers
This was the first video I found by you - you still keep it real! No bullshit! 30k on Insta now. When great people do great things - great thing happen. Keep on the good work! 🙏
Good stuff. I also use the remove everything that isn't a bow mindset. I think it's really helpful to get people that aren't used to wood carving moving and feeling less intimidated. An aha moment for me was when I heard my friend Greg Blomberg of Kestrel Tools say in a class I was listening in on, to get rid of waste wood as quickly as possible. I still struggle with that sometimes. Drawing stuff on accurately helps, but I often don't take the time. I think that having an efficient methodology is one thing that sets craftsmen and workers apart from people that are just fiddling around. Great video.
Great walkthrough Max and liked your philosophy on the approach to spoon carving. Where you sped up the footage it would have been cool to see that at normal speed and closer up so as to learn the exact techniques you use. Many thanks for sharing my friend ~Peace~
there are lotsa axe work videos on my channel... would be difficult to explain. the reason i do it is, that i like a very pronounced crank, and i need to keep the lines perpendicular to keep things from twisting, cheers
Du kommst aus Deutschland richtig? Danke für die tollen Tutorials! Schnitze seit einem halben Jahr und freue mich über jedes Tutorial, das ich finden kann. Daumen hoch! Woher hast du denn deine löffelmesser? Grüße Maurice
Thank you for the great content!

hi again. you are makeing great stuff and quick. do you make carving hook by you self?
I have done a few... Mostly I get them to test or I design them.
@@woodsmansfinest3814 i never try that before for spoons, it seems much confortable than chisels
@@jonasjo202 yes it is our common way to carve
Great video. Do you have any videos on carving with a hook knife. I struggle with the spoon bowl.
+srbcee8 please browse the channel ...
Great video Max, very useful info, thanks. Have you tried out Robin Woods carving axe ?
Thank you... I haven't... I rather invest in handmade tools that are more specialized and personal.
How do you axe thise nice squaredish crank and what is the reason of doing so? I always get it very roundish with my axing..
