I lived there from 1980 to 1989. It was a great place to grow up as a young boy. Living up on the North side of town (Woodman & I-25) up in the foot hills we didn't see many officers. I think my only interactions with them is when they did school visits.

Great stuff ! Retired police pilot here, our FLIR was so sensitive I directed ground units to ant hills. We would have found the beaver den hiding area easily but the dirt hiding area would have been tough. Excellent video
I presume it would also do a fairly good job finding people hidden in thin structures like roofs, sheds and outdoor boxes. Did people ever conceal stuff in stone slab patios and paths? That seems like an easy way to make a hiding spot really undetectable.
