C'mon dude, every "I QUIT!!!!" video is always "...MY JOB to do UA-cam full time!". Must be in the contract as they ALL do it, it got old years ago. Yeah, I didn't watch it as I already knew the answer, I'll use that 30 minutes I saved on other stupid click-bait videos.
I would probably have not watched this if not for the click bait and would have missed a very interesting video. So, sometimes, click bait can have a good outcome.
Great to hear, and best of luck! In terms of collaborating with other creators, there are so many ways you can pull your resources for everyone's benefit (E.g. share cost of full time video producer/editor, network & server infrastructure, camera equipment, etc.). So it's not ONLY the shared space that could be amazing.....so excited for you! What's your plan to soundproof/isolate the studios? (walls look like interior 2x4 studs). It's WAY easier to figure out the sound isolation sooner than later, unless you plan to form one team that plays camera man for one another (i.e. no one ever records or live streams at the same time).
On that heating system: While it isn't efficient, it will likely burn 15-30% more oil than a correct, modern boiler. But you need to be careful with the temperature, as this is a normal boiler (Heizwertkessel), not a condensing boiler (Brennwertkessel), so you can't run it below 35°C, or it will rust out and flood the room. I don't have any data to use for an estimate (the measurement paper from the Schornsteinfeger, yearly oil use) but I guess it will likely cost 1000-2000€ more per year than a modern one. Not cheap, but (at least in the beginning) better than a 10-20k€ replacement. If the landlord pays for it, that's ok, otherwise, it might initially be cheaper to leave it in there and save up. I never worked on this particular model, but do have some experience with the newer version of it, and it was generally good.
In this combination you should use an underfloor heating mixing kit with a pump. So you run your heater system at 75°C (or more if it is a unregulated constant heater) and at the underfloor heating side you can configure the mixer unit to 35°. Also you can set the pump to high volumetric thruput to reduce ΔT
@@kenank7053 In the background, there are a lot of radiators on the walls, so I assumed that's the only heating type installed, and radiators don't melt at 90°C, unlike plastic pipes. With floor heat, I prefer to use a plate heat exchanger for isolation, as plastic pipes have oxygen diffusion (even if they say they don't), which could cause the boiler to rust out, so a 100€ heat exchanger plus second safety group and expansion tank end up saving a 4000€ boiler. That way, you can have the corrosive water in the floors in a separate circuit, never coming into contact with your boiler's perfectly clean little circuit.

The reflection of the past makes a lot of sense to be included. It gives a bit of insight to those of us that have recently joined the channel, I think it makes us appreciate the effort more now. More than just some anonymous guy moving into a new building. I am a recent joiner but I look into the character of the person, I look for honesty and how they deal with faults and flaws. Thank you Stefan. Once I am in a position to join the patrons for the channel, I will do so with confidence that I am contributing towards a passion and love of creation. Thank you again. M~
as quite a few have said, YOU started me down this path of CNC and 3D printing about 4 years ago. Your wood CNC got me started and then came a DIY 3D printer attempt and then a real 3D printer. Now, several years later I have my (mostly) completed projects, lots of puzzle solving, and many hours watching and getting help and encouragement from your videos. You had me scared when I started watching this video - that you were taking the other path - now I'm excited for your new adventure, especially with your partners. Congratulations!
Seeing the early comments who think he actually quits UA-cam is kind of crazy. Well I watch Marius and already know you have a new studio (well, no I have to watch the rest of the video to make sure I am right).
Right.. ive never seen an "I quit" video that was them quitting youtube. Usually those people simply stop posting videos. If they do post a video about quitting youtube, its more often for engagement and wanting the immediate verification of the few "no please don't leave" comments, and take a small break then come back to post more.
Stefan, I've been following you and Marius for several years and just subscribed to Robin's channel. I look forward to watching what all of you do in the future!
tbh that professional background explains a lot! already expected sth like this seeing you in Marius' video and wish you three a more fulfilling life - and us some great collaboration videos 😅
Congrats on this step, Stefan! I've been a long-time viewer, and I'm planning to grab some supplies from the store to help you guys with the heat this winter.
Thank you for all you've done for the maker space, I learned a lot from your videos, and I'm sure a lot of people have as well. May the universe be on your side, and thanks again!
I love the fact that 2 people I like and follow are teaming up. I was pleasantly surprised to see you in the background while watching MH's shop video a few days ago.
I have enjoyed your UA-cam channel for the past few years. It has been inspiring and helpful to me as a maker. It sounds like you are on a great and wise path. I look forward to seeing where you go next.
Geez. I read the title and had to fight back tears, thinking the world was losing an Icon. Don't scare us like that.😂 I learned so much from you and look forward to all your future content. 😀
Not many people will appreciate how scary and hard this is. Congratulations on getting over your fears and moving forward. Loved the video and the heartfelt conversation. You made a big deal about it because it is a big deal. Coming from my own experiences this is hard but worth it. Security from a steady job can be shattered by one email from management. This can be just as secure and you will be able to make your own path. The path is not always easy and clear to navigate, but it will be rewarding in so many ways. Many times I have looked to your research to help solve some issue or upgrade I need/want to do. I appreciate all your hard work that helps us all. Can't wait to see the next chapters of things cooked up in the CNC Kitchen!

After we chatted at OpenSauce and you talked a little about the work life balance I told my wife that you seemed stress. I am very happy for you and know that you will be successful because you are one of those kind of people. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Congratulations on taking this decision Stefan. You've inspired me over these 8 years and I just started my own journey. I want to be like you when I grow up, even though I might be already older than you. Wish you many more successes
Congrats for the decision and I wish you all the best for the new yourney 👍 I'm looking forward to your new projects and continue enjoying what you are love to do
I love your channel dude. You being a legitimate Aerospace engineer gives it ALOT of potential. Since your doing this full time, can you do more "3d printing projects" ? But not like the usual youtube slop. Considering your engineering background, maybe go in-depth about the control theory, math, science, chemicals, and all the stuff thats so hard to find on UA-cam but has incredible depth that would be interesting for hobbyists! Maybe a youtube series on making a DIY SLS printer would be amazing.
Damn you really got me in the first half. I'm super excited to see what this new chapter brings. And thank you for all the incredible value that you're constantly contributing to the community!
Now we understand why your content is so good technically. Don't understand how you managed to keep both tracks running for so long though. Hope you can carry on making fascinating content for us in a way that works for you.

Thx for those inspiring and interesting insights. Congrats on your decision! Maybe overdue, maybe just in time 🥳Despite the comments on that “clickbait grey zone“ you went into: Great views/like ratio, right?! Was absolutely worth watching this for me and obviously also a lot of other fans of yours👌
This is such exciting news and I'm so happy for you and the others. I can't wait to see all the new content that you will release over the coming years. I knew your online store would do well because the quality of the products is outstanding, and the prices are great. I've always looked forward to your videos and you helped me tremendously when I first got into the 3D printing hobby. Thank you for making the choice to give more of yourself to all of us.
A well thought out decision, it should be better for everyone especially you and your family. I liked your statement that doing all of the work yourselves helps you learn. I learned a long time ago that I never want to do drywall again Good luck moving forward
This discussion brought a focus on how much things have changed in the world and Germany in the last few decades. I lived in Stuttgart for a couple of years back in '81-83 (scientist at the Max-Planck Institute) At that time, the idea of quitting one's "day job" and trying a startup was pretty unusual... maybe even looked down on compared to the way things were in the US at the time. Entrepreneurship just wasn't yet part of the culture according to my German office mates and friends. But look at it now! Guys like Stefan and Marius and many others have completely changed the environment (and without any cat videos). What an exciting development to witness!
Congratulations! As much as this may seem like a stressful and uncertain step to take during what may be uncertain times, this is the dream - whether on youtube or off - to seize control over your own day to day life and livelihood, and do the work that you find rewarding and fulfilling.
And I wanted to add - though it is none of my business - as I am also a father, I definitely know that our children can also tell when we are feeling fulfilled and happy in our lives. Taking steps to improve your life in this way shows them that a better world is possible!
Hi CNC Kitchen, a good decision, as family comes first. It will definitely help us CNC Kitchen followers too as you would have a little bit more time to focus on projects without worrying about a project you work on at work. hopefully you stick around another 8 years or more. regards Ronald From Australia.
You ROCK buddy!. Your experience as an engineer, particularly with metal 3D printing, is going to be a big thing in the future. It is way too expensive for commercial hobby machines to really take off yet, but as the process grows and works downstream to smaller and smaller businesses it will eventually become what Rep-Rap was - and you will be very busy as an engineer, a consultant, and the UA-cam creator that teaches us all how to make it work!
Unlike the haters amongst us, I "Kinda" knew where you were going from the start and thoroughly enjoyed the walk and the tour. I have watched your channel from the beginning and have enjoyed watching you evolve from a nerdy little guy into a trusted Husband and Father who juggles more "Stuff" than I would ever have been able to. Your announcement about teaming up with Marius (I've been subbed to his channel for a long while as well) made me smile about the future possibility's. Good luck with your new adventure, thank you for your efforts in testing so that I can spend my money with confidence and perhaps... just maybe, you might want to use that scale to weigh Marius's "Stuff" before it ends up accidentally and unceremoniously in the basement. :)
Thanks Stephan. We wish you much luck in your future endeavors. It is good to chase your dreams and it was clear from the start that you were destined for greater things than just a UA-cam channel. Thank you for the education and effort. Ad astrum!
Hallo! Thank you for sharing your decision and exciting plans! At first I thought you were quitting the channel! What a shock! You seem rather sad, but you are probably just pooped out from all the work…understandable. Alles Gute!
Having watched Marius videos on both channels before, the drama didn't hit as intended. But thanks for the nice walk through the woods 😂 All the best to you three, I'm envious of the makerspace vibe 😂

Been watching since 2020 when I got into 3D printing and also just signed the lease on a 2000 square foot industrial space and will be going on the same journey. I'm so excited for you! I also plan to get into some metal work -- looks like too much fun to avoid. It's hard not to be absolutely inspired by all the amazing creators on youtube like you.
Awesome dude. I know it’s tough and a delicate situation, but you will miss 100% of the opportunities you don’t take. No regrets, just keep moving forward. Godspeed brother
Thanks for the update. I agree that you appear to need better sound proofing for your studios. Especially in the adjoining walls and probably in the doors. Good luck running shop heavy equipment at the garage entrance while someone is filming. Be sure to update the security at that big drive-away exit.
Very nice! It was indeed, long overdue :) I wish I could do the same. I have a small side hustle of producing 3d printed miniatures, 3d printing stuff on demand and laser cutting. But next to 2 kids, a home to keep up, full time job and some additional hobbies - I find that my main job is the most hinderance. For years, I've wanted to reduce my work hours - so the fact you did makes me optimistic that this can be. And I am very keen on starting up either a youtube channel or a patreon with painting tutorials. So maybe there is hope :D I am really glad you pulled a plug and I wish you great success in this new challenge!
Congratulations! It's a big step. I'm quite hyped for the tensile testing machine though. Having such a machine for experimenting is an engineers wet dream!

Werner
Click bait = DICK MOVE, im glad your not quitting like all of us. BUT this is NOT a good way to say thank you to fans by tricking us. " Your audience will remember that"
C'mon dude, every "I QUIT!!!!" video is always "...MY JOB to do UA-cam full time!".
I didn't associate cheap clickbait with your excellent channel until now
On that heating system: While it isn't efficient, it will likely burn 15-30% more oil than a correct, modern boiler.
Congratulations Stefan!!! The new space looks really cool, looking forward to see what you will do next!
Thanks Simone! I'm really looking forward to getting back to work.
10:20 has the answer
Thank you! Why Germans can never express clearly and quickly anything is beyond my understanding.
You've helped me atleast 3 times in the past month, God bless you and your family brother, cheers!
What a great space and awesome people to share it with - I'm excited to see how this new chapter works out for all of you!
Congrats on running your business full time! Its a very scary but exciting step 🙂 and congrats on the studio. Cool that you can collaborate and share the space with others.
A little clickbait-ish up to 10:00, but you've earned it. Congratulations on "going pro" as a content creator.
I enjoyed this video, I enjoyed the chat you shared with us, it makes things more personal to those of us who don't have close friends or family who understand what we do or why we do them.
A LOT of people clearly commented before they watched the video 😂😂
Right.. ive never seen an "I quit" video that was them quitting youtube. Usually those people simply stop posting videos. If they do post a video about quitting youtube, its more often for engagement and wanting the immediate verification of the few "no please don't leave" comments, and take a small break then come back to post more.
That’s what you get for a clicky title and thumbnail in addition to longish video. People dont watch and comment based on them.
@@MattWeber I hate Quit-bait. Dirty trick.
congrats on the huge step!! what an incredible space, stoked to see y'all build it up together!
Wünsch dir alles gute - Wirst die Entscheidung nicht bereuen :)
Marius hat es schon gespoilert. Das wird bestimmt spannend. Ich wünsche euch allen viele Synergieeffekte!
I was wondering where you've been. I'm happy for you, brother. Hope everything works out for you & can't wait to see the future content.
That´s great exciting news! As I don´t live that far away, I really hope that I will have the chance to visit your new space once it´s finished.
Whoa, so, so cool.
I can only wish you guys all the best of luck in your future journey.
I'm looking forward to some more excellent content, Stefan 💪
Man! You scared me! Your channel is one of the best sources of material and ideas!!! (and I now realized we probably do not live that far away 😁). All the best in this new chapter!
great to see the studio progressing and al the changes in your life. Good luck to you. looking forward to all the greatness you'll accomplish there.
Awesome!! Congratulations on the move and the dedication it takes to do this! Best of luck!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🤙🤙🤙
Awesome news!!! ❤ Wish you all the success you deserve
Thank you for adding "my day job" in small in the thumbnail. Changed this video from panic to fun
you already had a tremendous impact on 3D printing on the strenght testing of course but as well most importantly on the speed with the flow testing. I'm really happy to see you continue that way
Hey Stefan, I really love the walk you are taking (and taking us with you). Never realised you were just living about an hour away from me! Wish you all the best! ;-)
I saw Marius' video of the shop and got very excited when he said that you guys were doing this together. I am very excited to see where it goes. After we chatted at OpenSauce and you talked a little about the work life balance I told my wife that you seemed stress. I am very happy for you and know that you will be successful because you are one of those kind of people. Thanks for sharing this with us.
You’ve got one of my favorite channels man! So glad you made this move! Can’t wait to see what is to come. Also podcast?! What podcast?!
Congrats on making your dreams come true. Your dedication to precision and maximizing outcomes is inspiring to me and aways appreciated.
Congratulations, Stefan, on your decision! With the enthusiasm you bring to everything you do, you are bound to succeed.
It was nice chatting with you for a few moments after one of the presentations at Open Sauce 2024! Congratulations.
Congratulations! I have spent countless hours watching CNC Kitchen, always a trusted source of information. Thank you sir.
Congratulations on taking this decision Stefan. You've inspired me over these 8 years and I just started my own journey. I want to be like you when I grow up, even though I might be already older than you. Wish you many more successes
It is very brave to share one's mind the way you do in this video, kudos! we'll be looking forward to your new setup and contribution. good luck!
Good for you, good for us. We will be happy to enjoy more content and cool and interesting projects!!! Thank you Stephan!
Damn you really got me in the first half. I'm super excited to see what this new chapter brings. And thank you for all the incredible value that you're constantly contributing to the community!
Holy cow man you threw me for a loop, pleasantly surprised for you and your family.
Congratulations! Best of luck for the future. I am always looking forward to see your videos. Thanks!
Now we understand why your content is so good technically. Don't understand how you managed to keep both tracks running for so long though. Hope you can carry on making fascinating content for us in a way that works for you.
It's about time, friend! Best of luck on this new, exciting, and scary journey of being your own boss. I for one believe you 100% have what it takes to survive, thrive, and ultimately be happier as a full time content creator.
Fantastic news. I thought I saw the 3 of you in Marius' latest video ;) Looking forward to what comes next
What new content? He just said he quits, as the title of his youtube channel. He's done. Gone. Finished.
I lived in Stuttgart for a couple of years back in '81-83 (scientist at the Max-Planck Institute)
At that time, the idea of quitting one's "day job" and trying a startup was pretty unusual... maybe even looked down on compared to the way things were in the US at the time.
Ad astrum!
Great to watch how you guys grow in making UA-cam videos. Great work, and I can't wait to watch new content from you :D Greetings and good luck!
Congratulations! Hoping you the best, good luck with the new projects!
But thanks for the nice walk through the woods 😂
All the best to you three, I'm envious of the makerspace vibe 😂
Big move, sir. I get that something like quitting a regular job is scary, but you have a fairly well established YT channel, so I think you'll do well.
Can't wait to see the space evolve. I love the look of the OSB ceiling panels against the black.
Good for you sir! We in the fdm scene appreciate you and your curlyself :) FINALLY you took the step. Kudos Stefan
Glad to se you back! One of the best 3d printing, machining and manufacturing channels on UA-cam. Looking forward to the new content with even better testing.
P.s Please review the new Carvera Air.
I wishing you the best of luck with your move Stefan and lots of a great content form your new studio!
Thanks for the update. I agree that you appear to need better sound proofing for your studios. Especially in the adjoining walls and probably in the doors. Good luck running shop heavy equipment at the garage entrance while someone is filming. Be sure to update the security at that big drive-away exit.
Best wishes with the new direction. I think you're making a wise move. Thanks for sharing.
So maybe there is hope :D
I am really glad you pulled a plug and I wish you great success in this new challenge!
😭10:00
😃10:40
Stefan, you need to stop scaring us like this
20:43 For this winter, we will be wearing an extra jacket
Congratulations on the new direction!
Bold move Stephan! I quit my job 14 years ago and never looked back. I wish you all the best taking this forward into a success story.
3:28 nichts geht über einen guten Spaziergang über die Feldwege ❤
I can imagine it’s both exciting and scary to make a big leap in life like this. Wish you best of luck!
Congratulations! It's a big step. I'm quite hyped for the tensile testing machine though. Having such a machine for experimenting is an engineers wet dream!
you dont have to clickbait us for us to watch you bro 🤦♂🤦♂
