Agreed. Born and raised in US and moved to Europe (now Zürich, Switzerland) 16 years ago. Would never go back. Life is amazing here. America needs a huge makeover.
Nah bro 😂. I would never move back to Europe till it stops being socialist and communist. I'm Czech and I act more slavic and eastern European is better than western in my opinion. Also there are economic issues, it's so expensive compared to a normal suburban area or even many state capitals. Gas is crazy, you have crazy taxes in most European nations. The USA is the best overall world side. Also you have more opportunities to make money in the USA . I would move to South America though as I love it. However it's also true about socialism and communism there but it's actually cheaper and it's nice
My wife and I are Americans and have been living in Spain for close to 20 years. The differences we notice are things like : Health care is free, cheap medication, interaction between all age groups, inclusion of disabled people, programs and activities for children, festivals, tolerance for the most part of opposing viewpoints and politics, more than 2 political parties, protesting is a normal thing, artist / musicians are appreciated.......
You know what I mean. How much do you pay for your health care ? We in Spain pay for free healthcare through our social security but that means that no matter what the emergency is we can go to the hospital on foot by car or ambulance and get what we need without losing the house. @@rickeyuscg

As a 57 year old from NY and in great shape, who has travelled to europe 20 times in the 6 years, I have never had a problem finding fresh food, may pay a bit more but then again we make a lot more. You see all the migrants they are allowing in with basically no check, the flood and change in the types of immigrant, and ultra liberalism has killed the american dream, The bronx pre 1960 was a nice place to live, then the europeans moved out and then the new residents made it a war zone. We did not have the issues we have now, and it started in the 1960s as we became increasingly liberal and the type of of immigrant changed. from a non white immigrant to america.

The US on average is listed as the MOST racially tolerant country in the world. and its actually by pretty big margins The US has a super high quality of life, Most americans have great work balances, coming from someone who lives in both AND is half european and american. I think that the european mindset is different from the american mindset, where europeans usually prefer to live and relax calmer; albeit less eventful lives. They Retire early, Spend time walking around, Go to the store more often, Relax with longer vacations, although usually not make their means better, and instead focus on their life. the american mindset is usually about always taking huge risks and trying to push to the top; And this shows: The top 1% in america makes about $800K a year, and 23% of americans will make it there at some point in their lifetime. about 60% of americans will make it to the top 25% income range (about $200K a year), and this is usually what a lot of people in general refer to as the american dream. This is a huge reason why america has the highest number of immigrants compared to any other country. And yes europeans do have things like public transportation, But I've lived in New York City for roughly 8 years, and i didnt even know anyone who owned a car! I currently reside in the US, and I find life to be really peaceful over here. A thing nobody talks about is living in places like the rural and suburban parts of the US, because those are honestly where most of the citizens reside. And I think people usually focus on some stuff and leave out other stuff, like for example, trees! One thing of the first things that immigrants say about the US is the vast diverseness of wildlife and the huge population of natural-grown trees and bushes, just out in the open, even in the middle of the city. I find those to affect me in my day-to-day life just as much as the other things. I think that it really just depends on who you are, and what kind of mindset you want. I think one of the big reasons people looked up to america in the 50s is because people generally had a much larger need to incite change, and a much larger entreprenurial spirit, compared to now where a lot of millenials (not so much gen-Z) want to live calm, peaceful lives, and not try to incite large amounts of change in their lifestyle (and community), and usually just dont want to take many risks in life.
You were lucky to get out alive and that some random person, or policeman, did not just pull a gun and pull the trigger, for some random thing that you might have done to irritate them, that you were unaware of. With false smiles and social pleasantries which are so fake that they almost make themselves choke when saying them. All they care about is themselves and how much money they can make at your expense and what you might be able to do for them to enable them to acquire it. And their ignorance of any other country and culture in the World is the epitome of their arrogance. Of course, a broad generalisation, but in my extensive experience there, this characterises their society and many of its members.

Americans are incredibly provincial. They’re so brainwashed by the myth that the U.S. is the greatest country in the world, they not only become infuriated by any criticism of it, they think that praising any other country, is tantamount to treason.
Living in the USA is what you make it. You want organic food, there's farmers markets (yes they do exist there), if you earn low wages, salary, there is free healthcare, housing, and food benefits you can get from the state. You want to take a walk in the park, there's a bunch of parks and beaches to do that. Owning a car, you don't need to because public transportation is everywhere. You want to drink a coffee, there are terraces and cafes all over. You want better work life balance, then work a part-time job or do some freelancing. You want a better quality of life, then simply just create it.
The only hurt one here is you, europoor. Trying to prove something and appear like you're living the life. Americans are laughing at you and your quality of life. Living in tiny apartments and riding a bus. Who are you kidding. Your lives are mediocre at best.
Your Bulgaria is one of the poorest countries in the world. What standard of living are you even talking about? Americans are light years ahead of you in every metric imaginable. I cringe how desperatly people try to defend America here and coming with things like "freedom". lol. Yeah, I'm completely enslaved here in Europe with my health care and one job.
The Americans that go on about freedom are probably only able to take 5-10 vacation days per year, and probably 2 weeks maternity/paternity leave when they have kids, and probably feel anxious about the idea of having to go to hospitals for treatment. Europe is just generally better for the normal, average person to actually live, not just exist.

Congratulations for your analysis and comparison US-Europe. I would add a couple of subjects: healthcare and education. I'm italian but as EU citizen the healthcare is almost free or you pay a little "contribution". When you call ad ambulance for an emergengy it is free of charge and you have not to pay hundreds of dollars or euro. A personal example. Years ago I had a cardiac arrest. Hospitalized for 20 days, implanted of a defibrillator. I take 11 drugs per day. The bill? Zero euro. Education. My son is 20 years old, making the so called Upper Technical School. Mechanical designer. The cost? 100 euro per year.

@@rexx9496 That's why in Europe, in Germany, a social security system was created in the 19th century. We all pay to one insurer. Not everyone has neurosurgical operations, fortunately. From the common fund, the insurer pays for operations. Only once we paid 10 percent tax, and now 40 tax for the same services. It's not free. There are people who never get sick and pay all their lives. The health insurance premium is also collected. Americans do not pay such high taxes but they insure themselves. To put it simply, the state also provides basic care The second thing is that their system is working badly, there is a catastrophe and no president solves the problem
It's not just the amount of food you can buy, it's the quality of food in grocery stores tends to be so much higher. It's very common for Americans traveling abroad for more than a few weeks to notice both weight loss and higher energy levels. That's not placebo, it's dietary quality.
@@damienyama7593nope, I’ve lived in four different countries and visited 50. The US allows choice and personal agency. Not a pathetic, failed nanny state like the cesspool of the EU.
Very refreshing to see an American objectively look at how life is outside of the USA. I am a Canadian, I visited 39 states and I can assure you that it is not a country it is a business. Every thing is related to money values. I never saw a gun in my life, I never fear walking anywhere in Europe, Asia or in Canada. I salute your eloquence, your human values and your humbleness. Explore, explore, explore… invite the Americans to travel, hopefully they will understand what real life is.
Canada has dangerous spots. I grew up in Chicago and we used to run drugs through Canada and have seen the gangs out there. Same with Europe, has plenty of violence, and getting increasingly more violent as they open up borders. I do agree Europe is still better than America but lets not pretend everyone except America is perfect.
74% of Americans have traveled outside of the country. You’re insecure, bigoted, and irrelevant. Imagine living in a country without basic freedom of speech, where all of the peasant population huddles on the doorstep of their neighbor because they can’t stand on their own feet. You’re a joke, kid.
I appreciate the USA for many things, but I don't understand the American mentality. Rat race, pursuit of money and success, unhealthy competition, ruthlessness towards the weaker. Sometimes there is no time to contemplate life.
Spain is even considered one of the lower income countries in Western Europe, together with like Italy and Greece (not west Europe). I live in Denmark. I can recognise most of what you say about European countries. Crime is very low, so we don’t even spend much on police. I thinks it’s because of the social security, that nobody is left on the street unless they either have some mental illness or choose specifically to live on the street. I don’t think there is anywhere in my country that is considered unsafe to go, even at night. I often hear stories of Dane’s that go to the US as tourists and when they walk some street they are told by Americans to avoid going there or afterwards when they tell they walked in the evening from the hotel and trough some streets, that they should feel lucky for not being robbed etc. and should avoid this and that area. And don’t get me started on 6 weeks of vacation (with full salary), plus 5 holidays, 1 year of maternity leave with salary. If you loose your job you get up to 80% of your salary from the government for 2 years to not be ruined if it’s difficult to get a new job etc.

one of the biggest reasons food is cheaper in Europe is that the farm-to-table process is less convoluted. In USA or North America, there is much more third party involvement in getting food to the table. Also regulations are so tight in Europe --- what we in North America call Organic, is considered the "norm" in Europe. The farmers and the government in Europe are aligned (not saying there is NO issues, but aligned) and this causes less political influence on fair pricing. The other thing --- which is just as important, Europe supports small businesses. Per capita most European countries have more small grocers (family owned) then North America, large grocers are more common, which in many cases support politicians, and this is how it starts to muddy the waters.
it is gov regulated and when you don't have an income that adjust for inflation, when inflation hits you are screwed. When your gov does not have the infrastructure to offer better pay, the quickest way to piss people off food they cannot afford, then housing. You are in a system between Russia and America, what you reference is carrots. Do you believe the Franco regime the dictator of spain gave a crap about the common citizen, but the food was cheap then too! Spain was under dictatorship until the 1970s.

For people who do pay for their medications, all prescriptions are £9.65. All forms of birth control are free as are all vaccinations. If I stopped working tomorrow nothing regarding my healthcare would change. It's insane in the USA that your healthcare is tied to your employer. The USA is the only country in the entire developed world that does not have human rights and employment rights mandated by law. Instead of employment rights that every employee is entitled to and has to have by law. The US has benefits dictated to them by their employers who are allowed to treat their employees like 19th century workers. In the UK every employee has a minimum of 5.6 weeks of paid vacation a year which you can build more and begins the day you start your job. Paid Sick Leave: If you are sick you get paid. I was off work for 6 months on paid sick leave with a condition I have. If you are sick while you are off work on your paid vacation you do not lose those days they will be counted as paid sick days and you claim those paid vacation days back. The same applies if you're off work for a long period of time on paid sick leave you are still entitled to your 5.6 weeks of paid vacation. Paid Bereavement Leave: My sister took 5 months off work on paid bereavement leave when her son died. Paid Parental Leave: 52 weeks of Paid Statutory Maternity Leave. usually, the earliest you can start is 11 weeks before the expected week of childbirth. Leave will also start the day after you gave birth if the baby is early. Automatically if you're off work for a pregnancy-related illness in the 4 weeks before the baby is due. Employers must give pregnant employees time off for antenatal care and pay the normal rate for this time off. Fathers can take Paid Paternity Leave. Women are not signed off from their postnatal care after they leave the hospital midwives visit your home for the first two weeks to check on the health of mum and baby. If you are returning to work after a long period off on paid sick leave your employer has to make reasonable adjustments to accommodate you such as going part-time, taking more breaks, adapting your workspace, etc. If you need time off work for hospital appointments etc you get paid. You can't get fired for ridiculous reasons like you can in the USA because employees are protected by their employment rights. My daughter is going into her third year of College the cost to her will be £0. Compared to the rest of the developed world Americans are still living in the 19th century in how the country treats its citizens.

Interesting comparison Jordan. I live in Spain, but I'm from Italy and I know pretty well also France. All you said is very true, your sensations correspond to reality, generally speaking. Talking about poverty, I've been several times to the US, big and smaller cities and I can tell that in the US the population of homeless peaople is 10 times bigger than Europe. My feeling is that the US Society is more based on personal success an not on collective wellness. If you reach "the american dream" then you are up on the hills, but if you fail you are seen as a loser and you end up on the street. In Europe we have a better sense of collectivity and, even if there are lots of people in a better position, the majority are mid and working class. We live in apartments, true, but we have a closest relation with the City life, we all have an historical center with restaurant, shops and lot of life. The cities in the US (apart from NY, Boston, SF and few others) don't really have a Center and people live faraway with less social relations. We could talk about this for hours.

You are just starting to get out of the American matrix. Welcome to the club. Not Just Bikes channel explained perfectly how amazing it is to live in Europe. We need to build condensed cities, like Boston, DC or NYC. Relying on the car is horrendously expensive, but there is no other way to move around in North America.
America is too big to get around effectively without a car. Even in Boston and DC and New York a lot of people still own cars. Those cities have huge suburbs where people live in one place and then have to commute 50 or 100 miles to get to their job. Boston has a population 675,000 but has nearly 5 million people living in the adjacent suburbs. The suburbanites outnumber the city dwellers 7 to 1. That is in America's most compact city. Every other city is worse. Car dependency is just built into the landscape.

But this would mean a big harm for your car-industries (and other related), and of course, they don`t want this to happen. (Also, I think you value more your independence and have less of a sense of comunity than Europeans, so this could have something to do with it, too) I have witnessed something similar in some Canary Islands, where they COULD have a awesome public transportation system (do to the size of the islands and the mountains of money tourism brings to them), but they refuse to, because it would mean the doom of rent-a-car firms and taxis..........

Hi, Jordan! Thank you for your video! You're one of those U.S. citizens whose eyes have been opened. Good for you! It's high time for Americans to come to Western Europe and see and experience for themselves that life can be lived with more freedom, safety and enjoyment than what many, many Americans are doing today. The variety of life styles and cultures in Europe, from the Nordic countries, via Britain and middle Europe to the Southern European, Mediterrainian regions, create a tapestry of different two thousand year old civilizations and cultures which have kept up with the times and in many sectors are more modern than the U.S. If the States are ever to become a country "for the people" and not for big business, for profit and the bottom line, the people will have to - somehow, somewhere, find political leaders of a very different kind than what they have today. And there is not much time left...
One thing I miss about Europe that I wish we had in Southern Cali is public squares. Just open areas with tables where you can sip coffee, catch up with people, and just take in life. For a 22 years old you surely sound mature and very well articulated. There is social disparity in Spain as well as there are areas that are economically depressed and underdeveloped. A place to witness it could be the town called La Línea de la Concepción, which borders with Gibraltar. For the rest, cities in European countries are built around people, not around cars, and the pace of living is just more relaxed.
La Linea de la Concepción lies next to a tax heaven which vampirizes all investments from the neighboring Spanish region and prevents the creation of any succesful industry in the area, at least, some which is not related to smuggling, tax elusion, money laundering, organized crime and the like. The rest of Spain doesn't resembles la Linea, and the situation there cannot be blaimed on Spain but on British outdated colonialism. If any other countries' town, of a similiar size was next to a tax haven which sucks all of its economic resources it would be as equally a shithole as la Linea is. Gibraltarians even deliberately sabotage any attempts from the Spanish locals to activate any economic activity, (look up news about their attacks on local fishermen) different from what they expect from their Spanish neighbors: which is, that they do all the jobs they'd rather not do (waiters, carers, construction, cleaning, etc) or collaborate in their criminal activities, mainly smuggling. They don't want Spaniards to prosper as they would become a competence for them, and also a certain inner pride/arrogance about feeling themselves superior to their neighbours. I guess that if you are getting your necked stepped on and neither realize it nor do anything to change that situation, you probably deserve it.
Once you go to Spain you just feel you dont really want to leave, i dont know if its the weather, food, people idk but its a weird feeling you just wanna stay there
simple answer , healthcare. If you are sick in US you are financially finished, All you need to do is break your leg and few months later you are homeless. In Europe i live in Poland, health service in emergencies is free of charge, unemployed people just need to register at the employment office and have insurance. Whoever created this system for you in America is just stupid.
"Free" in the EU, UNTIL you reach catastrophic illness like Cancer, Kidney Disease, Heart Bypass Surgery. You CANNOT CHOOSE YOUR DOCTOR OR SURGEON, and you can WAIT MONTHS for such treatment. Socialized medicine fails, whether in the EU or when they attempt to try it in the U.S..
The f are you talking about? Most Americans (90%) are insured and the costs will be covered. Even if you are not insured you can negotiate the costs in the US. Do you want us to compare Polish and American hospitals? Type in google „lunch in polish hospital“ and see what you get.

German here, my USA vacations were great (nature, landscapes, cities like SFO or NYC, very friendly people) but the inequalities and crime were just shocking.
The US on average is listed as the MOST racially tolerant country in the world. and its actually by pretty big margins
The US has a super high quality of life, Most americans have great work balances, coming from someone who lives in both AND is half european and american. I think that the european mindset is different from the american mindset, where europeans usually prefer to live and relax calmer; albeit less eventful lives. They Retire early, Spend time walking around, Go to the store more often, Relax with longer vacations, although usually not make their means better, and instead focus on their life.
the american mindset is usually about always taking huge risks and trying to push to the top; And this shows:
The top 1% in america makes about $800K a year, and 23% of americans will make it there at some point in their lifetime. about 60% of americans will make it to the top 25% income range (about $200K a year), and this is usually what a lot of people in general refer to as the american dream.

Facts bro. Americans don’t understand the concept of personal freedom.
one of the biggest reasons food is cheaper in Europe is that the farm-to-table process is less convoluted.
True After Kroger bought out Albertsons Safeway and Smith's their pet project became LGBTQ and the hell with everyone else

I have had decades of treatment and have been under the care of many specialists and consultants Cardiologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, ENT consultants, audiologists etc. Decades of countless blood tests, MRI/MRA scans, echocardiograms, ECGs, and 24-hour tapes to monitor my heart, X-rays, hearing tests, surgeries, procedures, physiotherapy, ambulance calls-outs, Pre-hospital care, hospital stays, doctor call-outs to my home day or night, A&E visits, broken bones, antenatal care, postnatal care and a whole lot more not to mention all the healthcare and treatment from my primary care doctors surgery and a lot of my dental care. The cost to me is £0.
I pick up my prescriptions every month from my pharmacy and pay £0. Medications are free for many chronic health conditions. Medications are also free to Children under 18, People aged 60 and over, People who are unemployed, Pregnant women, People in education, and People who can't work due to illness or disability.

@@Novusod You put a man on the moon, have an army as strong as eight times your closest competitors together, and are capable of destroying the world 7 times, one after another.
If you wanted, you could have an efficient transport system for your biggest human concentrations, and relegate the need for private cars to the countryside.
But this would mean a big harm for your car-industries (and other related), and of course, they don`t want this to happen. (Also, I think you value more your independence and have less of a sense of comunity than Europeans, so this could have something to do with it, too)
I have witnessed something similar in some Canary Islands, where they COULD have a awesome public transportation system (do to the size of the islands and the mountains of money tourism brings to them), but they refuse to, because it would mean the doom of rent-a-car firms and taxis..........
@@jorgebarriosmur It is definitely a cultural thing as well. Americans value their wide open spaces. We don't have much a sense of community because overall we live in a low trust society. People are afraid of crime and generally don't like to be around other people. People avoid public transit like the plague. They would rather drive than take the bus.
@@Novusod so let’s not build car dependence into our landscape. Country size has nothing to do with reliance on cars, look at large countries like France, Germany, even terrorist Russia - they all have walkable cities. Even prior to 1950’s before White Flight American cities used to have trolleys, cities were much more condensed. Suburbs are utopia where your car owns you.

Hi, Jordan! Thank you for your video! You're one of those U.S. citizens whose eyes have been opened. Good for you! It's high time for Americans to come to Western Europe and see and experience for themselves that life can be lived with more freedom, safety and enjoyment than what many, many Americans are doing today.
The variety of life styles and cultures in Europe, from the Nordic countries, via Britain and middle Europe to the Southern European, Mediterrainian
regions, create a tapestry of different two thousand year old civilizations and cultures which have kept up with the times and in many sectors are more modern than the U.S.
I feel like our cities are designed to make us feel like we're on our way somewhere else, and it's hard to catch a breath.
The majority of US cities are designed around cars, as opposed to most EU cities which are designed around people.
