One thing I found interesting in the "Poison" song was at the very end. As Angel is on the balcony, we see Vox and Valentino talking below. Vox is smiling as he talks to Val, then he glances over at Angel, stops smiling, and teleports away. It's a very small moment, but it seems to imply that even if Vox is enabling Val's actions, he isn't entirely comfortable with them or with the way Angel has been treated. Also, "Loser Baby" is easily the best song to come out of this show so far. Fight me.
Finally, someone else commented on that. I noticed it too, and I found it interesting. Back in episode 2, Vox also seemed rather excited/hopeful at the idea of Angel quitting, the way his vocal tone sounded and the expression on his face seemed… IDK. But I definitely agree that Vox doesn't necessarily seem too on board with the way Angel is treated.
Yeah, there was a little bit of that in episode 2 as well. Vox definitely seems to see dealing with val as a necessary evil, but finds him and his behavior deeply distasteful. Not sure that will go anywhere, but there is definitely something there. And yes, Loser Baby is goddamn phenomenal (and the official upload of the song has a pretty bananas 4.5 million views after less than a week)
What caught my eye the most about Charlies transformation was her glow, she had an orange glow radiating from her and in the first episode, we saw the paper she was holding burn to ash instantly when she began to change.

14:59 - I don’t think anyone in these reactions realizes what the shark demon put in Angels drink, it’s not just a roofie, it’s one of Velvets love potions, you can find and advertisement board for it with both Valentino and Velvet on it
I really wanted her to pull the line she did in the pilot and say “As princess of hell and heir to the throne, Angel is to stay full time at the hotel” (or, personally id rather her say “Your contract with Angel is here by terminated” and rip up the contract, but we dont know if she knows about the contract yet)
It’s clear that when Charlie switched momentarily to her Demon form, she was still holding back, probably because Anthony was still in close physical proximity to Val and she didn’t want to hurt Anthony any more than she inadvertently had (by proxy through Val) I think Charlie is more than likely able to simply “Thanos-snap” Val out of existence… is it wrong that I see a ‘Hulked out’ Charlie grabbing Val and slowly pulling off his wings, then antennas, then finally limbs, then stomping the rest flat… I know it’s out of character for her from what we’ve seen so far, but she’s also never seen anyone hurt from her actions before and she may not know how to handle her reaction…
Yeah it's crazy how much everyone disrespects Charlie despite her being literally half angel and daughter of the King. The only reason anything happens is cause shes a nice person.
You know what would be a good full circle? Charlie beating valinetinos ass and making him say "yes, charlie" to her like he made Angel Dust say to him.
@@Okk681 yes, but making her act like that requires a controlled rage, & context to how Valentino treats Angel, both of which Charlie does NOT have. Like I said, it would be cathartic, but it isn't reasonable for proper writing.
As a bit of lore clarification, Overlords don't necessarily need "domains", they're just sinners who have gained possession of other sinner's souls. So technically speaking Alastor owns Husk in the same way that Valentino owns Angel, granted yes the relationships are very different in their inner workings and personalities of the dominant overlords, but it is functionally the same.
As touching as 'don't hurt her' is, we all know Val is far weaker than Charlie, and her dad is even stronger than her. If he truly tried anything he'd be a bug smear on the pavement. Which is why he manipulated Charlie through manipulating Angel, who she cares about.
It's so difficult to get into details, but Angel Dust became such a character I related close to due to an abusive relationship I once was in. I felt myself being trapped in a corner and always putting on a Mask. So when the animation for Poison was released, it touched so close to me. Even more than Addict. it really was a brilliant bit of directorial structure to put such an upbeat fun song at the end of a DARK episode. It leaves people in a good place to process it all rather than just being upset and miserable.

Wait, wait, wait wait wait. Is Charlie's power changing the nature of Hell???? No, seriously. She sings and people treat her like a freak, but everyone around her still joins in and people seem surprised by it, to judge by the gangsters' reaction. It could all just be a joke I'm overthinking, but are the writers dropping hints that Charlie is so powerful she can make Hell's reality alter itself to suit her tastes?
I heard that the episode 1 narration where it says Lilith "gives her gift of song to the demons" is meant to be literal. She gave all demons musical logic powers.
We've seen Angel wear that mask since the pilot episode. He really does care and just wants to act like he doesn't give a shit when he actually does. Like that part in the pilot when he feels bad for Charlie after he got involved in that turf war with Cherry bomb. I had a feeling we would see that side of him in this episode. Angel wants to change his life but doesn't know where to start. He's stuck! I hope we see him break free from Valentino soon.

I always liked Husk on a aurface level (becuz we didnt have much to go) as a cat lover, and his attitude towards Alastor in the pilot. This episode gave me SO much more to love (I double taked at the overlord reveal like WHAT). His and Angel's dynamic in this episode was so good and I'm a huge shipper but I'm glad they're building repore and chemistry at a reasonable pace (whether they actually become a couple or just really good bar buddies either way). As for the rest-- my GOD this episode is painful to watch. Angel deserves better than this, even in Hell. And I know im not alone when saying I want Val's head mounted on a pike above his his burning studio. Poison feels like a much sadder variant of Addict and it's prolly gonna be a bit b4 i can listen to it outside of the episode.
You know what the worst part is? If Anthony ruined himself enough where he would be useless to Valentino, Val wouldn't let him go; he would use a Carmine Angelic bullet to blow Anthony's brains out. Edit: ✋️
I had to legit get up and walk away while watching this cuz I was getting REALLY fucking Mad. But as low as it took us, that duet in the end brought it back up to a HIGH high! I'm on the Huskerdust train after this episode and I hope that Dustox that thinks he's a Beautifly catches a Fire Blast from Charlie.
I’ll be honest, after hearing Valentino in Episode I and our first impression being him as a whiner, easily manipulated by Vox, I was pretty worried þæt Valentino wasn’t going to be scary. And þen came Episode IV… sweet Celestia, Episode IV.
Valentino was just as manipulative in episode 2. He told Vox that Alastor was also at the hotel, knowing full well it would set him off and get him to try and take down the hotel, which in turn would have forced Angel to come back to living with him.
The voice actor for husk also voiced doctor facile in the princess in the frog and I really enjoy the song friends on the other side which this voice actor sings. So yeah, huzz has a good singing voice. I mean, he proved that in princess and the frog.
I haven’t finish your reaction yet, but I saw someone mention that the parts in Poison where Angel is like showing off and putting on a performance is he dissociating from what Valentino was making him do :( BUT you could see in the screens behind what was “really” happening. The only thing he can’t escape from is Valentino, when he enters the scene at the end not even dissociation could make Angel’s be in a “better” place…
You can see the tiny cleaner demon sshh the cat bartender dude right before he says what her deal is and he switches up like you dont wanna know i like that thats cool
You're the first person to bring up how Husk was personally angry at the drink being spiked because he's a bartender. That's honestly an awesome outlook on it.
Fun Fact (if you haven't been told this already, I haven't checked the comments yet): Husk's voice actor also plays Dr Facilier in Disney's The Princess And The Frog, so he's arguably the most well known VA for Hazbin Hotel-
Okay I just want to point this out because I feel that we are not out of the woods is terms of bad stuff that happens to Angel because we still haven’t seen the scene where Charlie is crying at what we assume is Angels door so I am even more terrified than I was before this episode
Angel doesnt protect Dickatino from Charlie he actually protects Charlie from herself because she's one of the only good things he has left and he knew how she would feel about herself if she stooped to his level
12:25 THIS! I have so many thoughts about sex work in the Helluva/Hazbin universe and the ways it mirrors our own. Valentino perfectly represents the mainstream porn industry and sex trade (at least from an american perspective). It’s primarily run in an abusive often barely legal manner wich besides the obvious issues of CP, human trafficking and revenge porn, the workers are targeted, blamed and generally treated like criminals for the services they provide but their bosses and clientele are usually left alone by law enforcement or given a slap on the wrist. If a sex-worker tried to come forward about a client stealing from them or their boss abusing them they’d be laughed out of the station, arrested, blamed and/or further assaulted by the police. Murders involving a victim who is even just thought to be involved in sex work are almost never properly reported, or investigated (look it up there are dozens of cases of murders being classified as something like “violent incident no human involved”) much less solved. And the chances for justice are even lower for trans and BIPOC sex workers. Ozzie however represents what sex work can, could and should be. Sex-worker lead businesses backed by legislation that prioritizes physical and mental health as well as worker safety. (This is where we would want to have our darling Spider and his co stars to be working) I highly recommend looking into local (and online) sex worker activist groups to learn more about what you can do to help make life safer for people in this line of work as well as being a smarter consumer and looking into ethical porn wich yes you’ll have to pay for (with some exceptions looking at you audio erotica people self publish on Reddit) but by doing your research, listening to sex workers and you know paying them for what they do, you can help make life better for real people in Angel’s line of work. I started learning about this topic through the podcast Girls on Porn wich is basically “porn critic” the podcast. They are (from my recollection ) queer friendly ,and good at directing their audience towards reputable companies (I haven’t listened to it in ages so if the fucked yo bad let me know). Anyway tangent over. Can you tell sex and sex work is an area of interest of mine 😂
10:24 that’s me when I get frustrated (especially at myself) and I go to my birdie, hold her, pet her and sniff her. She smells like crackers and warm laundry for some reason and her smell is quite calming. Soft balls of yarn also calms me too, especially the very fluffy kind.

@@manyharmons4308 yeah but think it’s clear that no one at the hotel knows how powerful she really is. Honestly I don’t think even Vaggie knows.
I've noticed that too. I imagine when she is showing her true form her surroundings look distorted.
@lunasspace2694 or everything starts burning.

14:59 - I don’t think anyone in these reactions realizes what the shark demon put in Angels drink, it’s not just a roofie, it’s one of Velvets love potions, you can find and advertisement board for it with both Valentino and Velvet on it
Finally, someone noticed! Clearly, velvet is just as gross as valintino, just in a different, more indirect way.
oooh...i wonder if that's what Ozzie initially thought Stolas was asking for when he asked for a teleportation crystal.
Man. I really wanted to see Charlie absolutely destroy val. I fully believe she was capable of it
I really wanted her to pull the line she did in the pilot and say “As princess of hell and heir to the throne, Angel is to stay full time at the hotel” (or, personally id rather her say “Your contract with Angel is here by terminated” and rip up the contract, but we dont know if she knows about the contract yet)
It’s clear that when Charlie switched momentarily to her Demon form, she was still holding back, probably because Anthony was still in close physical proximity to Val and she didn’t want to hurt Anthony any more than she inadvertently had (by proxy through Val)
I think Charlie is more than likely able to simply “Thanos-snap” Val out of existence… is it wrong that I see a ‘Hulked out’ Charlie grabbing Val and slowly pulling off his wings, then antennas, then finally limbs, then stomping the rest flat… I know it’s out of character for her from what we’ve seen so far, but she’s also never seen anyone hurt from her actions before and she may not know how to handle her reaction…
She WILL
Just gotta give Charlie a bit more time
Yeah it's crazy how much everyone disrespects Charlie despite her being literally half angel and daughter of the King. The only reason anything happens is cause shes a nice person.
You know what would be a good full circle?
Charlie beating valinetinos ass and making him say "yes, charlie" to her like he made Angel Dust say to him.
I agree with the overall idea, but the ultimate power move would be making him say 'Yes, Your Majesty.'
Would be satisfying, but I don't see it being in character for her.
@@majinsonic8766 "Your Highness". Her *parents* are "Your Majesty".
@@CaptainCFalcon The most gentle people seem out of character when they get angry
Exactly Charlie would absolutely flatten valintino.... but sweet none the less 😅
The problem is Angel is Val's hostage. Charlie can't do anything bc Angel would be destroyed.
@@davidbodor1762 Not if she used her Angelic powers immediately and deleted Val permanently-
It's so difficult to get into details, but Angel Dust became such a character I related close to due to an abusive relationship I once was in. I felt myself being trapped in a corner and always putting on a Mask. So when the animation for Poison was released, it touched so close to me. Even more than Addict. I'll always feel a close connection to Angel, and he will always be my favorite in the Hazbin cast. Sending hugs to anyone else who may relate to some extent. 🫶🏼💕
Im still calling him anthony
Dang what an episode, they beat us over the head with that scene of Angel being abused by Val and then uplifted by Husk, someone who truly understands him!
I'm not a shipper but I hope we can see more Huskerdust in the future!

Her face when Angel says don't hurt her
"Touching grass isn't helping, I need to commit several acts of uncivil rebellion"
- Mosco, probably.
Angel and Husk are both damaged from addictions and together, they can at least try to give their stories different endings. They both deserve each other and the world.
I feel like Charlie crying at the end because Angel forgave her is gonna be like the Wax Stan funeral in Gravity Falls. We're laughing now but once the series is over it's gonna be really tragic on rewatch.
This episode was so rough and real and absolutely deserves a content warning, but I do appreciate how they knew the audience would need some cheering up after Poison and Loser Baby really does make me feel better. Best songs of the series so far and boy are they emotional.
somebody did point out it's the only episode that's rated 18+ on amazon, not 16+, which says something. Probably would have been good to have an actual content warning too, but it's something.
This episode is what made Husk one of ny favorites. I actually think he's above Alastor for me now. Such an emotional episode and I'm so happy to have the friendship between him and Angel developed in this episode.

"This could be the most wholesome episode ever."
Me: Oh honey....
I WAS UNPREPARED
"I don't know why my voice is all high and squeaky like this!" Is so perfect!
“He’s got a great singing voice”
…. Does she not know that Husk is also the voice of Dr. Facilier from Princess and the frog.
princess and the frog was fifteen years ago, believe it or not. Which is something I really wish I hadnt looked up.
I love if people are surprised Husk’s actor can sing. Keith David had one of the best Disney villain songs!
To be fair, that was....*checks notes* FIFTEEN YEARS AGO?! jesus....how has it been that long since Princess and the Frog?
Oof. This episode is so tragic. I feel so sorry for Angel Dust.
This episode is what got me on the Huskerdust wagon. Like before that I never thought much of it, but now I hope they become boyfriends.
The "This is yours" part really solidified that Elijah is Charlie, ur Vaggie and Morgan is angel 😂
'he's got a great singing voice!' I mean. . . same voice actor as Doctor Facilier in Princess and the Frog. Man got pipes lmao
Viv out here just breaking our souls before she can set it back into place properly to begin healing
I’m obsessed with Charlie unleashing her power. I think if Angel hadn’t gotten between her and Val she was capable of just crushing him, overlord or not. Can’t wait until she actually lets go and I hope we see it in this season at some point.
Mosco digging that hole trying to explain herself about Elijah's quote was so funny xD I mean nobody would judge you girls if you were into that, but I get it

I think the reason why so many people love this episode is cause I think it's two pronged, it can have you feel so heartbroken and sobbing-your-ass-off-sad at first and then have you feeling so happy and full of joy the next.😊❤
it really was a brilliant bit of directorial structure to put such an upbeat fun song at the end of a DARK episode. It leaves people in a good place to process it all rather than just being upset and miserable.
This was a rollercoaster of an episode... Glad to see you've joined the Huskerdust ship 🥳 and honestly seeing the parallels of you and Elijah's reaction really makes me believe y'all were chaggie in another life
Also proud member of the loser club over here 🙌🏽
Was low key expecting you to start gnawing on the plant for a second 🤣
Keith David fr got paid to call someone a power bottom
Husk is voiced by the same man who voiced Dr.Falicier in the princess and the frog (I can’t spell his name lol)
Still blown away by the fact they got kesha to do bee's spoken voice in helluva and keith goddamn david for husker
He's stuck! I hope we see him break free from Valentino soon.
the raw emotion in this reaction is beautiful, i was the same kinda when i watched it and i can say that the comfort animal was very needed here cuz i think i broke the armrest on my chair at some point
The fact that she thought it would be wholesome at the start 😭😭😭
12:30, yeah, that was Raphielle II- he also did Angel’s choreography in the ADDICT MV as well the revisions for the Klown B!tch choreography. Fantastic artist- he boards a lot of the really intense/emotional/dance focused scenes.
(Idk if its a deadname or if Raph is a nickname, but he is listed as Arielle Somerville in the credits if you wanna see what work he did- he does a lot of work for HB as well)
And they did a REALLY good Valentino animatic

4:42 well that's an impressively deep hole you dug yourself into 🤣
I always liked Husk on a aurface level (becuz we didnt have much to go) as a cat lover, and his attitude towards Alastor in the pilot.
Charlie is going to snap at some point and those overlords that think they’re tough s**t will be so sorry they reaped the whirlwind I swear!
You know what the worst part is? If Anthony ruined himself enough where he would be useless to Valentino, Val wouldn't let him go; he would use a Carmine Angelic bullet to blow Anthony's brains out.
Edit: ✋️
I love the huskerdusk energy but I'm extremely curious about husk being an ex-overlord. I freaked out when I heard that
Aw that King plushie is adorable.
20:50
Self-defense! Charlie wouldn't be happy about it but she would accept it.
I saw the comments so I thought I'd be ready but your INSTANT regret brought me to laughing hysterically with that girlfriend quote I AM DYING-

Torture is too kind for Valentino

Elijah: Charlie
Mosco: Vaggie
Morgan: Angel

“Made him a drink” made me piss myself laughing
Viv: emotionally puts you on edge with the intro scene
You: lets your guard down when it is shown to be just a porn scene
Viv: Valentino, actually
I’ll be honest, after hearing Valentino in Episode I and our first impression being him as a whiner, easily manipulated by Vox, I was pretty worried þæt Valentino wasn’t going to be scary.
And þen came Episode IV… sweet Celestia, Episode IV.
Using ashes and thorns? Brings me back to my 2nd year English courses 😊
Yeah, he’s a very multidimensional person.
Valentino was just as manipulative in episode 2. He told Vox that Alastor was also at the hotel, knowing full well it would set him off and get him to try and take down the hotel, which in turn would have forced Angel to come back to living with him.
I use "eths" for the hard "th"s.
Elijah: *sees sweet moment* Aw, I miss Mosco
Mosco: *hears harder daddy* So my girlfriend once said...
"Enjoyed" is a strong word for how I feel about this episode. It's...complicated.
The voice actor for husk also voiced doctor facile in the princess in the frog and I really enjoy the song friends on the other side which this voice actor sings. So yeah, huzz has a good singing voice. I mean, he proved that in princess and the frog.
I'll always just remember him as Goliath from Gargoyles (also mass effect) granted he doesn't sing in those.
22:02 Mosco officially on the Huskerdust train 🚂 WooHoo!!🎉
Fun Fact (if you haven't been told this already, I haven't checked the comments yet): Husk's voice actor also plays Dr Facilier in Disney's The Princess And The Frog, so he's arguably the most well known VA for Hazbin Hotel-
Okay I just want to point this out because I feel that we are not out of the woods is terms of bad stuff that happens to Angel because we still haven’t seen the scene where Charlie is crying at what we assume is Angels door so I am even more terrified than I was before this episode
oof yeah i forgot about that-
Oh no i actually forgot 😨
love this episode so much, loser baby is not only a pure banger but also have a really cool, if unorthodox, message
Angel doesnt protect Dickatino from Charlie he actually protects Charlie from herself because she's one of the only good things he has left and he knew how she would feel about herself if she stooped to his level
No, Angel doesn't know Charlie can fold Valentino like an origami
We got a hint that Husk was an Overlord in the Pilot. When Vaggie was telling Angel about Alastor, you can see Husk going against him behind her.
(This is where we would want to have our darling Spider and his co stars to be working)
I highly recommend looking into local (and online) sex worker activist groups to learn more about what you can do to help make life safer for people in this line of work as well as being a smarter consumer and looking into ethical porn wich yes you’ll have to pay for (with some exceptions looking at you audio erotica people self publish on Reddit) but by doing your research, listening to sex workers and you know paying them for what they do, you can help make life better for real people in Angel’s line of work.
I feel this is a good example of an episode name really supporting the story being told well.
9:48 was a perfect oppertunity for the green monster!

“Don’t hurt her” Oh Val really has Angel broken, that he thinks Valentino has any chance against Charlie
Oh no not ready for this emotional train again😭😭
In the pilot when Vaggie is telling Alastor's story.
During the scene that shows Alastor's demon form surrounded by other demons, there are dark silhouettes behind him.
One looking like Husk and the other Nifty. So there's the possibility that Nifty is an overlord as well
