Stealing money or item is very different than circulating counterfeit. If he had just robbed the place, stole item or money from the cashier etc, the crime would stop there, the loss would stop there. But he is using counterfeit, what's more a relatively small bill. Which means the same counterfeit might be used as a change to unwitting customers too.
Stealing is stealing. It all adds up. He is not the only thief out there stealing and it causes prices to go up which we all pay for. I know that won't make much sense to your childish, immature, entitled Tic Tok generation.

I’m surprised this made the news honestly. I would have guessed this happens fairly often lol
10 bills of the same serial number? I don't think so. Most of the times it's just one bill passed on at convenience stores, pharmacy or food trucks. Plus you can see in the footage that there wasn't like a big queue or anything...and the cashier even gave a cursory glance at the bills before counting them. I mean you could miss that if they were just two or three bills. And he/they did this at multiple Walmart stores within the same week. So basically Walmart is also slow at alerting cashiers or reacting to such incidents. More about stupidity/laxity than fraud.

As someone who used to cashier i am absolutely not looking at little serial numbers on a bill if there’s a bunch of people in line. Not when people will yell at you and spit on you for it. 🤷🏼♀️

They could get paid $10 more dollars an hour, but the reality is, that's not going to magically change the work ethics of an individual. I had a friend who worked at Walmart tell me that sometimes it's too much activity going on or the lines are too long for them to identify these types of things. She said when it's a bill over $50, they do check the money, but with smaller bills rarely they do. I've had a Walmart store give me back a fake $20 bill once. If the casher is a new employee or just busy sometimes it may be difficult for them to spot fake bills.
I had some fake 1s in 2005. It was pretty pathetic. Even 1 dollar bills. But it all adds up
they getting good. i took a fake 5, i didnt even notice. the lighting was kinda bad i thought it got washed. i used to think they could make a drawer that could weigh each bill after you put it in

It’s not just Walmart employees that need training in this. I had a bank teller try to give me a bogus $20. She argued w/ me for 10 minutes before calling the manager out and he recognized it as fake immediately. I felt that it wasn’t right as soon as she handed me the bills.

The pens don't work all the time if they are printing on bleached $1.00 Bill's. You have to check security strip.
They use the special marker on any bills above 20 if instructed to do so stores have different policies about that. I used to work in a bookstore many years ago and we would check them at random using that pen if we suspected something or if the purchase was for a large amount being paid for in cash and we would call a manager to watch us during those transactions
Nobody uses a pen to check $10, $20, maybe even $50.

Local news is obsessed with petty crimes. I’d love to see corporate wage theft, which adds up to far more then all other forms of theft combined, get this much attention. But it’s only some unforgivable crime when poor people shop lift from multi billion dollar corporations. That microglitter is easy to see under the lights in the store and its super hard to copy, I've personally never seen a copy with microglitter... they do exist, but they will generally be 20 or higher and generally get checked with a marker and more highly scrutinized.

As a former employee at Walmart I've seen this nonsense so many times it's really mind boggling seeing this nonsense go on those two men need to be arrested and prosecuted for using counterfeited money I've dealt with this so many times I had to call the manager and let her know what was going on I didn't want to lose my job or be framed for anything

I counted alot of cash as a manger no one could never get past me. i can catch any fake bill . The looks the way it feels , money marker & put it to the light .
Factss! I’m not sure why this location didn’t have that light to test if it’s real or fake.
That money marker is now very questionable because there are some papers (that counterfeiters use) that 'pass' that test. They mark just like real bills.
And Vegas strippers. Those girls be walking around with that little yellow marker in their crack.
