Great video once again Frank. You blow away all the myths I grew up with here in the UK back in the 70’s and I’m looking forward to getting back into the sport in the next year or so and putting your methods into action. Keep up the good work! Cheers, Pete.
I hear alot of fanciers say the birds need to stretch their wings the next day or two, keeping them in for a week, do they not getting stiff muscles or as we call it in South Africa, "muscle bound". Just want to know if that is true or not
Frank doesn’t let them out. I prefer to do it like most do. I don’t think it hurts them at all to get out and stretch there wings. They will only fly if they want too is how I see it. If they don’t leave the loft to fly then there’s your answer. The birds tell you what they want or need.
It will not hurt them at all to keep them in nine or ten days after a big long flight. They must be fed the barley mix or they will get heavy and blow up like a ballon. Rest will allow the muscle to heal and recover. Couple training tosses and correct feeding and they are ready to fly all day long again. Watch this video. It gives step by step how I prepare and feed for the long distance. ua-cam.com/video/wYW1IAtxK_Q/v-deo.html
Amazing Interesting that they can come back from such a distance I’ve taken my birds out on 15 miles and 30 mile toss and sometimes I lose them I took eight birds out on a 10 mile flight yesterday, and only Four birds return so far… It took them 2 to 3 hours to get back
Frank can chime in, but it's either the pigeons or the feeding. Some pigeons aren't suited for some terrain, but if you over feed, even good pigeons struggle if they're too fat. Go back and watch Frank's earlier videos and he explains the things that will give you some success.
Kerby had some good points and could be many reasons why the birds are not returning. Feeding right and having the body nice and buoyant helps them fly effortlessly. You need to go slow adding distance and they should be flying well before you start training.
You can see my mix here. The birds recover fast. I use a chlorine remover, little honey, Nubiotic Oregano, Roni and very lite vitamin and electrolytes. Water cannot be too concentrated with any of this stuff. Just a little bit. ua-cam.com/video/9NvtaN-JUGI/v-deo.html
Hello sir, You mention that she take fat seed before the long race. Meaning they Will eat 2 times that day? The first meal is barley mix and second is fatseed mix. Am I right?
Depending on how fast I feel the race will be I may load up on fat seeds for one or two days before shipping. Many times I load fat seeds all they want day of shipping. Feed very early and again in the afternoon. They eat what they want.
@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons hello sir!, may I have your email? so we can make a conversation on that and get your full guide as well ☺️. btw I really want to finish a long distance race like what you have done😅
what you share for the feeds and how to train did help me get until the last lap 557.67KM distance Race, my Bird came 7th Place, and that was a big achievement for a 3 years old newbie Fancier, that race has several sea crossing, the 2nd to the last lap was 446.67KM also sea crossing. it was a +100KM jump from the last liberation. i have my Birds weight at a good condition, this next season will be another race for my Hen hopefully her ranking will be good also...
hello good day, since we only race 5 laps (we flew our bird every sunday) for 5 weeks and about 520km on last/final lap air distance here in the Philippines, is it possible to used and try your feeding program sir?
Grit is always available to the race team. I never add fresh grit and minerals after Tuesday because the salt may dehydrate them. Usually I load the race team with fresh grit and minerals on day of return from the race and they have this all week.
What you do mean by flushing? Some used to feed light feeds on return or give a laxitive like epsom salts. This is all a big mistake. Rich feeds, minerals and rest are best for recover.
I do not worry about panting if the wattles are white and eyes are tight. My second bird home at 507 miles flying nearly 11.5 hours came home panting like crazy from the training toss the day before shipping. You would never think she would fly all day a few days later. See this video on panting and you will feel better. ua-cam.com/video/1AWCKv9Tu2Y/v-deo.html
That is tough to say. I feel it is better if the birds are mature so send to the One Lofts when they first start receiving birds. Problem is no one has enough to send to all the races early. I send by the deadline in many cases and still do well. Usually, the pigeons are at least 6 months old before the final race. This was the last week to send to the CA Classic and Royal Cup. Sent my teams today. 6/4/24
Go back and look at Frank's videos on "feeding celibate hens". He shows the measurements and weights on how he feeds. The little clay pickpot is a pretty good way to measure, though.
They eat the rich feeds and can take what they want day of return and next day for long distance. Plenty of fat before the long flights. High protein is not great for racing.
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons thank you Frank for this answer. I am from Pakistan where racing pigeon sport is making good progress. Here We see alot of fanciers that promote the use of protein based formulas by jose thone and other well known brands. Seeing the great performance by your birds and the feeding regimen you suggest, am I clear in my understanding that good quality pigeons can be flown to 700km without using any protein based formula.
Early this year I got some videos with them trapping. They trapped well for the 500 but they flew all day. 436 was in a dive from the wrong direction and landed right on the board. I think she may have made a big loop around a hawk or falcon.
She is special and will make a great breeder. She recovered from her falcon attack in her last race of her life. I thought she could not be beat. She was in her best form ever and came back second day ripped wide open.
These guys don't know how to Race birds .I raced Pigeons in North Bergen NJ with the likes of Runnes Loft and Hillside Loft two of the best Lofts in the Country
Appreciate the update and the information it really helps a lot. The hen you sent is doing amazing should have eggs from her any day now with another pure SVR COCK. And the hen that died she had 2 eggs and one of them was still fine from the 🦝 attack so long story short that egg is now a chick 🐥 and is 11 days old thank you for all of your support and help 🙏🏼😎 it has really helped a new guy out a lot 🪽🧬🎯🏆🏆🏆

Thank you so much. The is so many things in this sport that is taken as a must do and it is not needed.
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeonsi strongly agree! Keep safe, fan from the Philippines here!
Nice Frank!! What a tough hen!!
She is a good one and keeps adding to her record.
Awesome, just awesome! Love your method. - South Africa.
The results fanciers are reporting are just amazing!

Hi frank what do you thing of crossing short with long distances birds? Some peoplw think that does not work
This works. I like crossing long and short distance. My goal is to add speed and still keep toughness.
I love this system i will definitely try it
Simple and you can compete at the top.
Nicely done sir!!! Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Hi Frank, is that related to ur old dark hen400and 500 Winner 1931?
She is a Geerinckx cross and not related to 1931. I hope to retire and breed her after the season
What a great bird! Congrats Frank
She keeps adding to her record.
Great results. Thanks for sharing this!
Happy you enjoyed!
Hey Frank congrats! Thats Great Results!!! Love your vids. Just curious what the top 3 birds were strain wise.
The first bird was a Geerinckx cross, second hen was Sablon Geerinkx and the 3rd hen was Joosen Sablon.
Can't wait to start racing my youngsters 2024 and try out your system 🎉
Hope I have helped make competing at the top easy.

Nothing special, whatever was least expensive. This hen loft was a gift and we move to the property.

With your racing system feed my long distance feeding system. Race, rest for a couple days exercise two times and race again. You will do super.
We have a road here in Orlando called 436 famous for street racing it’s also known as semoran be a cool name for your 436 hen
Semoran is a cool name for her!
Good job.🕊
