A metal detector works using an electronic bridge. That is, two coils, one transmitting, one receiving, are placed in a configuration, such that, a "null" is located where, although then coils are close together, the RF energy transfer is at a minimum. When metal is brought into close proximity with the coils, the balanced "null" condition is upset and the receiver signal increases, thus indicating the presence of the metal. If the "null" is "deep," in other words, if a relatively large piece of metal is required to upset the "bridge" condition, the sensitivity of the system can be enhanced by introducing just enough metal to allow another small piece of metal to upset the "null" condition. That is the technique used here. The metal ring is slid toward the tip of the GP Pointer, thus adding some metal to the "null" condition, but not enough to set off the receiver. When another small piece of metal, the "target" is introduced, Waa Laa... detection. Frank
@@oldtex1940 yes, but there is no coil in this pointer i think. There is one Choke of windings around a ferrite core. It works on both sides/Tips, thats why it works also in the Direktion where you placed the ring
I am not quite sure what a Jubilee clip is. But, if it fits snugly on the body of the pinpointer and can slide relatively easily and is metallic, it should work. If the pinpointer can detect the clip, then slide it on and see.
You do understand sound increases in intensity the closer you get? So the further away you pick up the object the better and provides a direction for you to follow. Only downside to this is you may have to readjust often, but it's worth it if sake of a jubilee clip and a bit of rubber to increase its performance, it actually makes it a viable spare or fall back at least
You have to turn it on with no metal near probe. Then slowly slide metal forwards toward probe. Then when first target alert is heard slide metal slighty back to silence alert keeping metal there. You have to do this each time you turn it on.
Just got my GP pointer today. Works very well, 3-4 inches of detection in an air test.
You can use a paper clip and black plastic tape for fine tuning or calibrating.
This is a well known mod, but this is the best application of the mod i have seen and i just happen to have a couple of those clamps in my shed.
Hi what are the clamps used for initially ? and who sells them , Thanks . Ant from Wales UK Greetings
@@indianatone218 They are used to hold cables in place. Search for "Stainless steel insulated cable clamp."

It's worked for mine also ..Thank you !
Hello, is the ring you wear a normal iron or is it copper or chrome?
Thank you. What size clamp?
Thanks very much mate just done this with the one off amzon 👍
Would this work on the garret pinpointer? And why does adding this make it work better do you know?!?
yes, works. but you need adjust every time you turn on.
Will it still fit in a sheath?
Is this can detect staple wire??
I tried this and it either detected the metal or no change. I'll try again.
What u put un u pin Pointer?
Hello friend, how much is the price of this product? I can not buy it in Iran. I am very interested in it. Can I have one of them, even an old one?
Why not?
Se poate tine și un cui mare în mână sau moneda mare pentru sensibilitate.
I'm trying to find lost keys in long and overgrown grass....could someone suggest a good metal detector?
For your case, probably a Bounty Hunter would work just fine.
@@oldtex1940 thanks a million
How mch sir the pointer
Cool mode, someone could explain why how it works? is it some kind of electromagnetic reflector ?

@@oldtex1940 thanks for answered, threshold is lower, if i understood the sensitivity better…

Hı Frank what is that piece
Just a rubber coated metal (ferrous) clamp that I had.
Complimenti..Ps...l'anello che hai aggiunto,è in ferro?
Lo vorrei sapere anche io
Hello dear, I am sending you a message from Iran, how can I have one of these pin pointers? I can not get it in Iran.
Don't waste your time you won't find nothing but trash in Iran😂
What is a ring metireal use in ring
Steel. Ferrous metal
Muito boa a ideia assim e melhor que por fita adesiva
سلام قیمت چنده میشه برام ارسال بفرمایید؟
If you find that thing GP Pinpointer I have some swamp land🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks

it defeats the purpose of a pin pointer if you make it so it gets a signal from further away.
Then, please, don't modify yours. Thank You

THE PROBLEM BEGINS WHEN YOU TURN IT OFF AND TURN ON IT AGAIN, LOSE THE SENSITIVITY WON.
Yep 👍🏼 exactly. All these videos are 🗑
@Kani Fuker I’m talking about tuning it. It’s bullshit. You have to retune every time you turn it on
Why yoj not show the detecter when yoj make the expérience i think you lie
Think what you want. The video explains all.
