Just discovered your channel. My grandmother was Croatian and the dishes with the cottage cheese remind me of my grandmother. She was a baker by occupation and always made various cottage cheese pastries. OMG. I'm so hungry now.

Burek with cheese is Turkish or Bosnian, but they don't call it that, it's cheese. It is made from dehydrated cheese, and it is delivered like a bag of cement. When I saw it about 20 years ago, I stopped eating it.

Glad you like your trip to Zagreb! yeah, nice food, nice people! but if you are still there or ever come back try to visit countryside...around Zagreb search for OPG signs...than you will taste true Croatian food...and probably even cheaper than in our capital ;-)
like truffles? go to Istria and try them there...like sausages? go to Slavonia and enjoy...fish? than Dalmatia is for you ;-)

Cheese, not burek. The Turkish dish came to Bosnia and then to Croatia. The quality is below par so they are no longer the last.

We had so much amazing seafood and also truffles for the first time on our trip to Croatia :) You're right - it definitely delivers! Just got back from our third trip and want to go back a fourth time! We have never been to Zagreb though. Have you got more Croatia videos coming up?

A caring man doesn't know what they put in him, the frozen sea cucumbers come from who knows where and the squid you might think is from Zadar. We don't have our own food, we import a lot of it, but of the lowest quality because we are poor.

i m from Croatia and i just gotta point out that the calamari you ate are not Croatian calamari....i can see that cuz of the price behind you....first of all you not gonna find calamari from Jadran in a local fast food,only in restaurants. and also the price of them is a lot higher that the price behind you in the video. they are one of the best and one of the most expensive in the world. what you had were patagonian calamari which are also rly good....but all in all nice video
The honest truth about eating here means most of the people can't afford this basic 20eu lunch, even buying a basic cafeteria lunch, or stocking up on basic supplies are at a price most people can't afford to buy.

Burek whether meat or cheese is called burek everywhere. Only in Bosnia do they call it Sirnica, or if it's meat they say Burek. And it's originally Anatolian Turkish not bosnian.

Calamari and fish are FROZEN, not fresh, and deep fried. In Zagreb cant find fresh seafood this kind, poor fake acting on averige food of EVERY restaurant in the country. Have to wonder WHERE did you grow up, so this food is awesome? Jungle? Need to learn how to chew, could be litlle realistic. Poor act
