Perfect definition of salvation; the blood was everything and its application is paramount to understand, which you have expounded upon succinctly without error.
Pastor Doug is right on so many obvious issues, while the church at large, is unrecognizable biblically. I have found myself in such sharp disagreement with the church's wokism, totalitarianism, retreatism, avoidance of key issues, platitudes, privatization of the faith, personal relationship ambiguity, love defined as acceptance, and unity defined as “Zip your lip”, that I have found it difficult to be joyful in their midst. I find myself feeling like the church is burning down, and nobody really cares. What about all of us out in areas where nothing resembling a biblical church exists? Pray for us. Like someone once said , Justification is a bad deal ! That's right. God himself got jipped in the deal but we profited by it and He authorized it. HOW COOL IS THAT !!
My concern was not explicitly addressed in this video. I really enjoyed listening to Doug Wilson until I heard about one of those sexual abuse cases. A student of Doug’s sexually abused a girl and when it came to light and there was an ongoing investigation into the incident, Doug allegedly sent a letter to the father of the victim in which he told the father that they had considered excluding him from communion because of his failure to protect his daughter. In what universe is it okay to threaten a dad with excommunication because someone else sinned against his daughter? I understand the idea that as a father he has a duty to protect his daughter. However, a father cannot, and should not, be expected to be with his daughter 24/7. I was hoping that Doug would address that issue in this video, but the entire segment addressing sexual abuse seemed like it really didn’t address the actual problems. Effectively saying “right back at ya” to the accusers doesn’t address the problem and isn’t a good argument. There may be more to the story that I don’t know, but I don’t think a father should be passive-aggressively threatened with excommunication because he’s seeking legal action after someone else sinned and committed a crime against his daughter.
I've found that the ones bringing those accusations usually bring one side, so eventually I defaulted to thinking that there must be more to the story than meets the eye. The same happened with John MacArthur. So I agree, that sounds like a bad situation, and I'm fully open to the idea that the Church leadership made a mistake. I'm also open to the idea that there's a lot of information that wasn't made public. I think the wise choice would be for us, who aren't a part of that local congregation, to trust in the Lord as He leads them and pray that all was handled well, and if it wasn't, then to bring all who did wrong to repentance.
Doug did an interview with a man named Darren Doane on a show called All my Friends are Heretics. I believe it is on UA-cam, but if not it is on the Fight Laugh Feast app as well. They cover a bunch of Doug’s controversies that he’s been involved in, and this is one that they talk about. Doug also has a page on his blog where he lists all the controversies he’s been in and and links his responses to them. I recommend you check these out as they shed some good light on this topic.
From what I understand the parents were encouraging the relationship even though they didn’t realize the sexual abuse side of this issue, further I also read that he was pursuing Orthodox views, It is easy to spin this issues in order to fit an agenda. Also, slander is easy and its easy just to accept one view over another if there are theological disagreements.
I recently found myself changing my mind about Grace Community Church. In my ignorant experience having been to BOTH very small, not doctrinal and very large soundly doctrinal churches I wonder if a video would help. Having to make a line to ask a question to the pastor to only be turned around after standing for 90 minutes is not my idea of productive. I am now convinced that sound doctrine isn't enough and that church efficiency is also important. Voddie Baucham had something to say about splitting large churches but the folks at the "masters" seminary beg to differ that their church must serve their business rather than their congregation. Regardless of how many pastors in "training" and "professors" they might have. Enough to fill a small city I wonder?
Congregations have appeared in all sizes throughout church history, from the many thousands of Jerusalem, to the persecuted gathering, to the thousands of the Puritans, to the tens of thousands of some doctrinally sound churches across the world. It isn't godly speech to slander an entire church and it's ministry as insincere hypocrites who only care about maintaining a brand, rather than believers who yes, are trying to run an organisation as effectively as possible that reaches millions but are bound to fail to cater for the individual desire of a single congregant to ask the pastor (lead pastor or any of them?) a question at a particular point in time. By the same standards Jesus' ministry was a failure because he didn't get to everyone in the line who wanted to be ministered to by him. If you'd prefer a smaller church with different problems that's fine, but don't judge another man's servant.
@@Yesica1993 It has nothing to do with that and you took my question out of context. It has to do with the assumption that sound doctrine should make someone ignore other problems about a church. Matthew 5:11-12
first thing that popped into my mind... it is probably a good thing that they do not like you
Pastor Doug I don't understand your violent rhetoric and anger if you are Christian.i think Christian men should be meek and mild like Mr Rogers who was also a minister
I'm not being snarky but you look bad, unhealthy. Take a long break and rest up. Also, eat better , walk outside more and lose 30-40lbs. If not for you do it for your family's sake
This is a pastor whose theology believes and thinks the world is getting better....duh!!!
Wolves do a really great job intelligently speaking in circles. A good lie is 99% truth…
