  • Classic Car Addict is proud to present this three-owner 1957 Mercedes-Benz 180D in our Mesa, AZ showroom. Consignor has owned this 180D for 30 years and has receipts and a record book since he’s owned it. The current owner purchased the 180D in 1993 with 54,354 miles on the odometer from the second owner and kept the documented history along with the car. If you are searching for a beautiful well documented classic, look no further.
The 180D is finished in paint code 934, China Blue. Consignor notes that it had a full repaint done on 2/18/1994 in California. The original brightwork is in beautiful shape, they were re-chromed in 1994 as well. Windows are free from cracks and pitting. Factory 13” steel wheels with paint matched wheel covers measure 13x5 on all four corners. A body-colored original full-size spare wheel and tire are shown in the trunk along with the original toolkit. The car retains tri-color taillights, reflectors in the lower rear overriders, Marchal driving lights, and Bosch headlights.
The cabin is trimmed in red, it is not the original interior, but the original color. The dual spoke black steering while frames the VDO instrumentation including a 90-MPH speedometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The odometer displays 168k original miles which are reinforced by the stamped and noted service booklet.
The naturally aspirated 1.8-liter diesel was rated for 42 horsepower and 76 lbs.-ft of torque when new and features mechanical fuel injection. Mechanical service is up to date and the consignor has maintained and organized records since his purchase in 1993. We do have all three owners’ history for vehicle registration. Lots of documents, records, receipts, etc. will be included in the sale of this beautiful 180D.
We love the Mercedes-Benz models from the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. These were manufactured to a standard of excellence, not to a price point, and it shows in each aspect. This 180D will be sold on a clean Arizona title with documentation. Call Classic Car Addict today for additional information, 480-256-1459.

You can always tell if it is a diesel or petrol: Diesel, the radio antenna is mounted in the front, Petrol, the radio antenna is mounted in the back. This is because you would not have electrical interference with the radio signal. This was also the case in the newer generations.

I had a 1959, the same colour but blue interior with a bench front seat. Unfortunatly in Canada they started using road salt and it rusted out. I sold the engine and the last I heard it was powering a sawmill near Denby Ontario.
It was an "Americanized" version and had a turnsignal on the left side of the steering coulmne and a floor dipper switch.
It was slow. Maby 60 mph downhill with a tailwind, but handling was superb and on a twisty road it could leave American cars with marshmellow suspension eating its somtimes smoky exhaust. I paid $50.00 for it when our local Studebaker ran it out of fuel and none of his mechanics knew that you had to bleed the fuel system before it would start.
