i was born within the wind of Amarillo and live by the moon of the Gunnison. I travel the Raton Hills every time I travel between the two. I love this song. I love TVZ, but have a very soft spot in my heart for Gillian. Never knew she covered this song. Awesome!
This song by Townes represents the traveling life when leaving home does not remove the presence of it in head and heart. That moment when known separation comes is haunting.
this is one of my favorite songs. It is much covered. David's restraint here is greatly appreciated - making this perhaps the truest interpretation of Townes' vision.
I foolishly slept on this one. Only because I’ve only so much time to listen to my favorite duet and favorite musicians period. I already love scores of their amazing songs, duet and solo as well as feature performances and collaborations. Had I known Townes wrote this I’d have perhaps caught it sooner. It was the perfect time nevertheless. It’s beautiful.
We used to drive up to Grandad's cabin in Colorado in the 60's from Oklahoma and then I bought one above the Royal Gorge around 2005 so we would drive up from Houston 16 hours. Hitting Raton meant that you were entering the Rockies. It was a gateway to the Gods. (For those of you who have never made the drive North up 287 through the Panhandle up to God's Country.) One of my favorite songs, but partly because of memories driving over Raton pass, as a kid and later.
My absolute all time FAVORITE TVZ song! Even though my fave version/cover is the studio Robert Earl Keen take, I really love this one as well. GREAT job Gillian& Dave! 👍👍

I am so glad that they slowed it down from Townes' versions, just like REK does on his cover. 😉👍💔
This is just my favourite piece of music on all of UA-cam. Makes me sigh with contentment every time I listen to it.
One of my favorite songs done by one of my favorite artists. ...
Is this not ELEGANT? Always was a favorite Gillian+ Dave cover. They do TVZ so well.
