    PEX is a polyethylene material which has undergone a change in molecular structure using a chemical or a physical process whereby the polymer chains are chemically linked. Crosslinking of the polymer chains of polyethylene (HDPE) into PEX for pipes results in improved properties such as elevated temperature strength and performance, flexibility, chemical resistance, environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR), resistance to slow crack growth (SCG), toughness, and abrasion. Crosslinking makes PEX a "semi-thermoset" polymer, providing excellent long-term stability.

    It would be important to note that Zurn Pex B tubing not only can be used with Pex A expansion fittings that provide greater internal diameters over Pex B, but the bursting tests have it more than double that of normal Pex A.

    We are trying to use a pex tubing as a cooling system and have water run through it to keep a stainless steel plate metal cool while an epoxy material lays on top. The epoxies exotherm and we need to keep it at ambient temperature. Which kind tubing would be best out of the 3 types? Just your opinion would help me decide…not holding you to anything!

    What I don't get is, why they didn't make a 5/8" size for potable water application, since it would be much closer to the 1/2" copper for pressure loses.

      Romans 6.23
      For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
      John 3:16-21
      16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
      Mark 1.15
      15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
      2 Peter 3:9
      The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
      Hebrews 11:6
      6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

    What type of tubing is to used for water main, from meter to the house? What type of fittings for that?

    • @PEXUniverse
      @PEXUniverse  4 роки тому

      Hello RT, If the run from the house to the street is under 60 feet, Type L copper might be a choice for you. It is less likely to break and it has no fittings in the ground except at each end of the pipe. It's also recommended to put foam insulation around the copper run. For longer runs the choice would be schedule 40 PVC pipe.

      I think it's not sturdy enough to use as a frame for the mat, you would need something metal. Maybe I'll make a video about alternative uses of PEX.

    Hi, I want to use PEX for a non-plumbing application and was hoping you could answer this for me. I want to make a CURVED dolly track for shooting video using PEX. If you don't know what a dolly track is, it's simply two parallel rails (can be metal, pvc, rubber, etc.) often looking like train-racks that a camera on a dolly or tripod with wheels runs along for smooth movements with the camera.
    What I want to do is make a 180-degree track. I've done all the math to figure out the lengths I need for a 360 circle w/ 6ft. and 11 ft. diameters, that will be cut in half. What I'm wondering about is the flexing/bending capabilities of the PEX. If I tie a string or cable to opposite sides of the circle then cut it in half right at the string points, will the PEX hold that exact shape/curvature?
    Would the Oxygen Barrier PEX be better since it kind of molds better because of the aluminum substrate? Or might it be more likely to get kinked or warped and not retain a smooth precise curve?
    Would appreciate any insight you can offer. Thanks!

    • @PEXUniverse
      @PEXUniverse  7 років тому

      Hey Timmy, I actually know what a dolly track is, I like your idea to make one out of PEX. I can picture exactly what your saying, and oxygen barrier is the most flexible, but it doesn't keep it's shape (none keep they're shape). PEX comes in spools so no matter what shape you make your tubing, it will always try to go back to the shape it was on the spool, if that makes sense. The only thing I can think of is to screw in things called 'snap in clips' in the shape and area of your dolly. Then you can snap in your PEX tube into the clips, and it will definitely stay. You can search snap in clips and get them from anywhere, we sell them on our site as well.
      The snap in clips leave the top part of the tube exposed, but I'm not sure if they'll allow the camera to move freely on the tube. Take a look at the clips and you'll see what I mean. If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

      You kind of read my mind ... I was looking into those "PEX PIPE HOOKS", which I believe are the same thing, and was thinking of making "spacers" in between the two arcs of PEX using those and some flat wood or plastic.
      However, based on what you're saying about them wanting to return to "roll form", it sounds like my tying the string idea definitely would not work because they would already be want to curl IN, and not OUT-wards. Although I guess I could TAPE the two ends (to the floor) the X number of feet apart for the diameter of the circle. Would they keep a constant and smooth circle (or in this case, semi-circle) if done this way?
      Thanks,
      Tim

    • @flick22601
      @flick22601 6 років тому

      What about cutting your pex pipes, putting a "L" or "T" on the end ( try a pvc, cpvc or copper fitting because you will want to remove it) and use a straight piece of pvc or wooden dowel cut to the length of the diameter of your circle? I can see using a pvc "T" on the ends that would slide down the pex allowing you to have just one piece of pex and by sliding the "T" closer together reducing the half-circle diameter. You may have to play around to find the right fittings but, a file and drill will make it work.

    • @ronh9384
      @ronh9384 5 років тому

      Mount it on plywood and use a fitting to hold it together and clips to hold it down. Once you have the shape you want hold it in place with silicone caulk on the inside and outside curves. The also make a window caulk which is removable.

    • @PEXUniverse
      @PEXUniverse  5 років тому +1

      PEX-C is similar to PEX B but it's the softer of the two so it's more susceptible to kinks. While PEX-C may be suitable for hydronic and radiant heating use, it offers little practical advantage over the other 2 types. PEX C is also manufactured at a much lower rate than A and B, so it's less readily available.
