Dipstick in the way plus seemed the left bolt from your view would come out from above but seemed socket bottomed out on engine. I was in a hurry but when I get home I’ll try again. Good to see a view of it
Thanks for the video and the helpful info! I got a 97 Ram with the 5.2 and this code popped up as well as cylinder 8 misfire. I replaced the plugs and wires. I heard somewhere that the ignition coil when it goes bad it usually comes up as a misfire.
Glad to help! Yeah I would start basic with inspection of stuff like plugs and wires. Definitely get a quality crankshaft position sensor though if that is the problem.
Well this looks like a whole lot of fun 😂 I'm going outside right this instant to do the exact same thing. At least I know what I'm up against which is just being a contortionist. Thanks for your video it was very helpful 👍☮️🇺🇲
I thank all the people who put a vidio out but this one really helped. me get a look at which way I am gpong to do go at it. The best way I can see to do it is breal the two bolts lose then take a quarter in with a swivel and either a tourc or a allen tip socket and a 1/4" impac cordless and go in from the top and change it out. thanks
Had to do this to my truck. But if you have a EGR on your truck. You have to remove the tube that goes from rear of intake manifold to the left exhaust manifold in the rear.. I recommend also to remove EGR to access the bolts. I also recommend removing oil pressure sensor if you have egr. I broke mine when i was tighten the tube from exhaust to intake manifold...
I was driving down the highway couple years ago and my 98 dodge done a loud backfire and stalled. Tried to start lt again and wouldn't. This was the culprit. Sad thing is that I had my truck in the shop and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Mechanics were I live are so lazy

please tell me you didnt take out the tranny and exhaust to do this . hahaha i watched one where the guy took out his wheel well and tire to try and reach it but couldnt. sorry im in tears cause im as skinny as u guys and it took ten minutes sitting on the engine . so what im looking for is if anyone had to adjust or relearn the sensor after install.dodge told me it had to be adjusted , but i think he is lying cause it is a solid bracket , no adjustment bolt or spacers. idk .truck still dead.
No, haha, I was just showing a clearer view of it while doing a transmission rebuild. I knew many folks would probably desire a clearer view of where it is exactly, so I took the opportunity to do that. No adjustment on the sensor is needed, just be sure you don’t settle for a cheap one. They’ll only last for a year.
Thank you sir! Really gonna help me out after being left on the side of the road yesterday. I watched this video ua-cam.com/video/u9QyQ635bh4/v-deo.html and crossed my fingers hoping it was the ignition coil, but it wasn’t. Gonna try my hand at replacing the crankshaft position sensor now after watching this video. Thanks Handyman Sam.
@@HandymanSam yes sir! it sure did. wouldve never been possible without this video. Im not the least bit mechanically inclined but you made the process simple and provided good video angles unlike most UA-cam mechanic'in videos ive seen. I really appreciated how you put circles around the things in the video so that I as the viewer knew where to be looking to understand what you were talking about. Super informative.
Check the video description for symptoms!!
Helped me out. Finally i know where that sensor goes been looking everywhere today ñ.. thanks man

Glad it helped! Yeah, I felt like it would be the perfect time to show it with everything else out of the way. Definitely not easy to get to.

Alright if this goes bad can it stop spark to my distributor and cause my truck to just turn over
Will my crank sensor make my truck jumpy after plugs and wires are changed?
Yes. Even if you have brand new spark plugs and wires, if your crankshaft sensor is bad, it will run rough.
Thank you
Glad to help!
does the crank sensor prevent a spark to the distributor from the coil pack?
It can indirectly through feedback to the ECU, yes. Directly, no.
Did you figure it out?
