Travel Buddy Upgrade & Accessories

  • We decided to get some accessories for our Travel Buddy and to upgrade the door catch.
The main accessory was a deep dish draw and we wondered what effect that might have on the temperature of the oven.
Testing showed that the oven heats far faster without the deep dish in place. After just 30 minutes without the draw, the Travel Buddy heated to 157C so having the draw will require some extra pre-heating time unless you leave the draw out for at least the first 30 minutes.
With the draw in place the test showed temperatures of 148C and 145C depending on whether there was a shelf under the draw or not. This was after 60 minutes.
Check out Somerville for these and other Travel Buddy accessories.

Thanks for the video, I just received the latch without instructions or template so to see how you did it and what the finished install is supposed to like was very helpful. That said, I think I will put my latch a bit higher and retain the original handle location. Cheers.!!

We bought a second Travel Buddy for the Coaster and I found just tweaking the original catch a bit was enough to stop it coming open.

Why didn’t you leave the handle where it is, and just out the latch above it?

I've been using the ozito range of 18v powertools for a few years now, expecting them to fail quickly, but the bloody things are good as new. I've got spare batteries but never had to use them.

Yup, I have heard a few people bag them as cheap rubbish but every Ozito I have bought is still working today. Never had to replace a battery or a power tool. These days I don't buy any other brand.

The good thing about Ozito a a brand is Bunnings will replace it no questions if it gets busted, which makes it pretty damn affordable lol.

You would be better off, making a straight anderson plug adapter to the power supply, every plug you introduce can cause a voltage drop (especially seeing as the travel buddy draws 10A)

won't that hole in the door near the latch now let out heat???

I guess it will let a small amount out but it doesn't seem to have made any difference to cooking time. The door isn't sealed that well anyway.

    Extra hole near latch ?
Heat can escape looks horrible bad design

There are actually vents in the top of the door that are designed to allow heat out so the extra one on the door (my fault for changing the location of the handle) will hardly make any difference. There are insulated doors available for anyone who wants to try and generate more heat in the oven.
