Stunning bowl Steve, the grain is amazing and the char, albeit light, is a great touch. Really like how this came out. Keep on turning. Cheers, Bluey 👍
Beautiful work Steve....this style is pretty hard to do well and keep the bark together on the "living" edge. The burning also stabilizes the wood (an old Japanese method known as shou sugi ban) and prevents insects from invading it. Best wishes my friend.
hello kobie from Greece the olive wood when it is not completely dry is not easily rubbed with the sandpaper so I dry it superficially with the flame. it also emphasizes the grains of the wood.thank you for watching
That is such a beautiful bowl. Olive has a wonderful grain. I have alot of olive as well. I do have a question that I hope you will answer. Why did you put flame to the bowl?
Wow! Love this piece. Killer lathe!
Another excellent project and looks fantastic and the colours you wouldn’t think they come from a tree. Thank you for showing your work. 👌👌👌👌👌

Hello Steve from South Africa, this bowl in my favorite Olive wood is absolutely stunningly beautiful. But why the burning of the wood??

Whats your finish ratio? How much beewax to linseed oil. I cant get mine as liquid as your
Liquid is the first coat .that is only linseed oil.
Thank you
👍👍👍👌

The grain on that bowl is fabulous but I’m not a fan of the shape.
Thank you
