    Stunning bowl Steve, the grain is amazing and the char, albeit light, is a great touch. Really like how this came out.
    Keep on turning.
    Cheers, Bluey 👍

    Simply Beautiful! Of course you had a little help from the wood. I don't think I've seen a more beautiful type of wood.

    Beautiful work Steve....this style is pretty hard to do well and keep the bark together on the "living" edge. The burning also stabilizes the wood (an old Japanese method known as shou sugi ban) and prevents insects from invading it. Best wishes my friend.

    Hello Steve from South Africa, this bowl in my favorite Olive wood is absolutely stunningly beautiful. But why the burning of the wood??

    • @stevekalogerakis
      @stevekalogerakis  3 роки тому

      hello kobie from Greece the olive wood when it is not completely dry is not easily rubbed with the sandpaper so I dry it superficially with the flame. it also emphasizes the grains of the wood.thank you for watching

    That is such a beautiful bowl. Olive has a wonderful grain. I have alot of olive as well. I do have a question that I hope you will answer. Why did you put flame to the bowl?

    Στέλιο πολύ ωραία δουλειά μπράβο. Νομίζω ότι έχει έρθει ο καιρός να σκεφτείς την αγορά άλλου τόρνου. Δεν σε αντέχει πλέον αυτός.
