Finding BIG gold with the Fisher Gold Bug 2 - Dredge Tailing Pile two pound Nugget/Specimen!

- On a recent prospecting trip up in the northwest, I find a whopper of a nugget, weighing 660 grams which is just 2.5 ounces shy of 2 Troy Pounds. The metal detector of choice for this trip was my high 71 kHz Fisher Gold Bug II. This VLF (very low frequency) type detector is the perfect choice for hunting these remote tailing piles because it's light, fast, and has amazing Iron ID capabilities.
After running two different specific gravity tests to find the actual amount of gold in this discovery, the total gold content is 10.83 ounces.

I have known Gerry for many years, seen his skills and exceptional detecting classes. I have always maintained that Gerry could find gold in a bucket of sand... He is GREAT! No, this is NOT a commercial! ~LARGO~
On the old dredges, there used to be a guy on either side of the stacker line with a bucket between his legs. It was his job to grab the big ones that came out of the dredges trommel and place them in the bucket. Sometimes they came too fast and they missed a few, sometimes they were still covered with mud and they missed those.
Congratulations Gerry! Awesome find!
I bet ya some old timer in heaven is kicking his ass right now for missing that!
Gerry, I enjoyed meeting you last October in Rye Patch. Everybody in metal detecting should get to know you and your team. Great people. This is a totally exciting and motivating video. Well done!
@@Moon-magic109 Actually six years. But you are correct.
Congrats and well done. Great find.
OK, since ya did a one legged gold dance, the situation way properly handled. LOL Congrats Gerry, that's a fine chunk of yeller!
+Archaeodigger Thanks for the great comments.
I don't usually place random chunks of gold that look like rocks in random spots but I must say you found the one gold rock I placed in the only spot I would place any gold rock and now I think its time you return what is not rightfully mine back to you this instant.
Yes I put it back so it would grow even more.
That is Amazing!!. Best of Luck in the New Year Gerry!!
Those old dredge piles ? I bet .. Congrats !

Hi Gerry... I currently have an AT Pro. Would you suggest the AT Gold over that. Thanks, and hope for a reply.
will you be at the rye patch get together 15th sept this year?
Hi guys. I intend to do my detecting work in Zimbabwe, southern Africa and was wondering what the best gold detector you recommend for nuggets is? Ideally also one we can use to find a gold belt for proper mining after. Thanks
Gerry how many karats was this nugget? Was it 24K solid gold? When I saw it said it weighs almost 2 pounds, I figured it was worth about $40,000 but maybe more because if its large size. There are collectors who will pay more than spot gold for a nugget which is unusually large.
Yeeeeehaaaaaw well done lad
TOP CONGRATS !
I TOO OWN A FISHER GOLD-BUG II.
Great Lil machine.
I think I'm going for a 10" coil for OPEN FIELD AREAS AND FOR SANDY BEACHES N SHORE LINES.

Spray paint can change basalt into gold? Modern day alchemy!!!
Anyone having a sooty and sweep flashback when that metal.detector goes off??
Do you have a in depth video of how to tune and use the gold bug II??...I took mine out to a area with mines and it just goes crazy over every rock..I think it's all iron or hot rocks..the area does have silver and copper and some small gold...what's in a hot rock?...how am I going to find small gold if it's just going off over everything??...help
Ground balance, then set to high mineralization,if thehot ground is still a problem then switch to discrimination .
Hot rocks will popand click but only nin ferrous targets will beep.
There's zero threshold in discriminate mode
around $13k nice find!
what karat would that rock of gold be???

a big iron Pyrite nugget...ha ha
KAULANA 4x4 rc
No look the smooth surface of the metal polished by a stream/river. Pyrite isn't maleable.
I noticed he never shows you the find with the metal detector. Only shows it to the camera where he had it set up..
