Hi, I'm a Korean railfan who has been watching your videos for quite some time. Your videos always do a fantastic job of breaking down complicated rail projects/systems for those who are interested, and you certainly achieved that here once again! Thank you so much for carefully researching and presenting the Korean HSR network.
Some minor corrections and interesting trivia:
    1. The letter G in "Gyeongbu" and "Gyeongi" make a G sound, not a J sound. However, I did notice that you corrected your pronunciation of "Suseo" from your last video, which is very much appreciated!
    2. You forgot to mention that the HEMU-400X trains achieved a new Korean train speed record of 421km/h (fourth highest in the world! 🥳), which prompted Hyundai Rotem to change its name to HEMU-430X. Also, the KTX-EUM (formerly known as EMU-260) trains have recently been deployed in three newly built (or refurbished) mixed rail lines with operating speeds of up to 260km/h:
    - the Gyeonggang line to Gangwon province, which was formerly operated by KTX-Sancheon trains and was built for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics held in said province
    - a portion of the Jungang line, an alternative bypass route for the Gyeongbu line that links Seoul and Busan via a northern route (full upgrades are set to be completed in 2023)
    - the Jungbunaeryuk line, a third bypass route for the Gyeongbu line, of which (unfortunately) only mere 56km sections is yet to be opened
...and I think this is a great idea because it brings higher-speed services to sparsely populated parts of the country where dedicated full-on HSR tracks wouldn't be financially feasible!
    3. The Geungjeong tunnel that you mentioned is actually a precursor to the Yulhyeon tunnel that houses the Suseo HSR line and the GTX-A line. It is a 20km-long, 50m-deep underground tunnel that runs from the north of Busan (Korea's second largest city) to Busan station in the south of the city. I personally believe it can serve as a role model for other HSR systems that are having difficulty reaching stations in the downtown of already built-up areas!

I don't know why, but I am unable to edit this comment right now. I mispelled Geumjeong tunnel as Geungjeong tunnel.

It was very interesting to see the logical, step-by-step approach the Korean gov't took to solving this problem and creating it's high-speed rail network. In the US, the approach to high-speed rail has been chaotic and unpredictable.

Eh, I think people forget that the US is a consortium of states, and not a true centralized government. If you look at California HSR for example, they've followed a pretty similar trajectory to this video, taking several decades to get through all the reviews needed and funding secured. Part of that is of course lobbying by airline, freight, and auto companies to prevent passenger rail from becoming viable, but we can't also deny that a substantial portion of the US population don't understand rail and think that rail projects means the government will forcibly take their cars or something.
Hopefully the tides will start turning in this as more rail gets built and becomes more popular throughout the country.

Just putting it out there, KTX-EUM is pronounced "ee-eum" or "i-eum." The word is the noun form of the verb "잇다(it-da)," which means "to connect."
Also, KTX-Sancheon is named after the cherry salmon, which was the design motive for the train. Sancheon also happens to mean "mountains and rivers," which is an apt name considering the train runs through the mountains and over the rivers.

One thing to add: due to PIMFY issues, the city of Cheongju wanted Osong to be where the Honam HSR to branch off from the Gyeongbu HSR. Even though it was the worst of the three choices(the choices being Daejeon, Cheonan, Osong) for the Honam HSR to branch off, not to mention that the HSR would be crooked as well, the proponents of putting it at Osong sent some 'bomb threats' if the better choice was selected, so it ended up being at Osong. Hence, a lot of railfans from South Korea hate Osong :/ lol

I think if Korea was not divided in two, Pyongyang to Seoul would definitely be the busiest railway line in Korea, especially the High Speed Railway, but they were divided so only Seoul to Busan. In North Korea, there is no High Speed Railway, but they do have a simple railway, but it is only for tourists from China who go through Sinuiju City until they reach Pyongyang. Meanwhile in South Korea there is really a High Speed Railway and it is also one of the most beautiful Railways in the world.

I live in Korea and am currently preparing to become a railroad engineer for KORAIL. Personally, it was a very impressive video that Korean railroads were coming out of foreign media.
In addition, in Korea, railroad routes are currently being improved nationwide, including Gyeongbu and Honam lines. KTX EMU trains will be used for the improved route in the future. By 2030, most of the traditional Korean railroads will disappear. Technological advances seem to be very fast.

(I wonder what the ROK is using for electrical power; the French went nuclear.) The ROK train builder should sound familiar - Hyundai-Rotem: yes, they have plants here in the US, and sell EMUs to SEPTA, NJ Transit, and the LIRR, and sell passenger cars to all the above, MARC, and MBTA.) I do NOT have an issue with rail electrification - and never have had an issue with it - after all, it worked as far back as the 1960s. However, I DO recognize that it is a GPB to keep up, as SEPTA and AMTRAK can tell you; so can SNCF or JRW.

Japan was not allowed to participate in the bidding for the vehicles due to negative campaigns by rival companies and anti-Japanese sentiment caused by the comfort women issue.
As a Japanese, it is regrettable that Korea could not even participate in the competitive bidding for the high-speed railroad, even though Japanese-manufactured trains were being imported to Korea at the time.

Please don't mislead people around the world with Japanese facts. Shinkansen participated in the bidding. However, at that time, Shinkansen was not compatible with general tracks, and Japanese companies did not promise to actively transfer technology, so it was eliminated at light speed shortly after participating. And anti-Japanese sentiment is not an area you'd carelessly mention at a shallow level. It is a much more complicated problem, and a variant was born through it. Please be quiet.

It is fundamentally wrong to say that they participated in the bidding.
When I did some more research, I found out from a book sold in Japan that the main reason for not participating in the bidding was the high price due to the strong yen, plus the rekindling of the comfort women issue.
      入札に参加したというのは、根本的に間違っています。
      調べてみたのですが、入札に参加しなかった理由は、円高による価格の高騰に加え、慰安婦問題の再燃が原因だったと
