- After our vacation cruise, we stayed in Florida for an extra week to find reptiles in the wild. We were not disappointed! We found so many that we have to break up the video into two parts! And you are NOT going to believe what we found in Part 2!!

The sadness in Ed and Emily after finding the snake in the road just shows how much they love and care about reptiles. They're amazing people!
😢 it makes me sad I love the noodles 😢
@@Alexandra-xd7fr Definitely not a mill. All of the animals are well cared for.
@@Alexandra-xd7fr Reptiles are very different than mammals. Please research more about captive bred reptiles before making such heinous claims. There's a reason Snake Discovery is continuously praised throughout the reptile community.
@@Alexandra-xd7fr And their ball pythons have large enclosures. They have only bred one ball python. Their breeding racks are mostly Hognose snakes, which are much smaller and don't need as many hides since they burrow.

Ed & Emily……Thank you. I’ve lived in south Florida for all of my 62 years. I have euthanized 3 snakes that were hit by cars, still alive but way beyond help. It’s the hardest, yet easiest decisions I’ve made because I can’t stand to see any animal suffer. I’m so sorry she was gravid. That just makes it so much worse😢
wow what an amazing trip! TWO different lifers!
Rip to that mama snake, thank you for putting her out of her misery 😢
That toad was so chill, I love her
Awe sorry guys ... bless you both for being so loving.
the toads in the video made me so happy. As soon as the adult southern toad was shown I was audibly like " :o That's a big gorllll!!! That's a big gorl!!!" Toads are so neat. I love seeing toads.
That florida garter snake is beautiful!! On the note of garter snakes- I always thought the ones around me in NEPA were mostly brownish and/or greenish in color! Which I always thought were very cool! You’re right- the differences between the same species of garter snake in different zones is insaine!
Your enjoyment in finding ANY reptile specias!!!
i love all snakes. but garters are definitely my favourites. the blue garter boy was so pretty.
They're so underrated. i wish there was more garter snake love.
Thank you for showing us these Beautiful baby’s, and I’m so sorry you guys had to help a Momma snake out of her misery. I’m thankful you guys were there to assist her ❌⭕️❌⭕️
Started to cry as I saw the sadness on Ed’s face over the water moccasin you helped. It would seem best to think of it as helping. No one wants to see something struggling at their death.
The garter flinging around that musk everywhere omg 💀
I love this video
I didn’t realize that garters varied in color so much by region.
In my area they’re more green. They’re typically more of a drab green that borders on shades of brown or taupe, but some appear to be _very_ green.
Usually they’re shades of olive or army green and they have a yellowish or orange stripe down their spines.
I thought the different colored garters shown on SD and other reptile channels were from captive breeding alone.
I had no idea they were colos that existed widely in the wild.
I just figured a garter snake was a garter snake and the ones here looked the same as the ones on the other side of the country.
Thank you for sending that snake over the rainbow bridge, I hope she and her babies find happiness in snake paradise above the clouds.
As a lover of snakes I absolutely love you both. As a snake widower your videos make me want to go out and find a new friend. thank you for the videos.
Captive Corn Snakes
are not diurnal but are crepuscular. Active at dusk and dawn. Mine is never out in the daytime.
I have a baby corn snake and it’s the sweetest little snake and I was surprised to learn that apparently they won’t bite alot
Looking forward to part two!
I actually have a pet corn snake and his name is rambo! And he’s a big boi
I bicycle to my job and often meet snakes and legless lizards on the way. I always try to drive past them and then move them to the side. even the venomous one. I have only hit one legless lizard and unfortantly it got away before I could stop and check it. The world need more respect for this beautiful animals.
A corn snake gave me the first wild snake bite 😂 the researchers with our group laughed cause they never had a wild corn actually bite anyone
I am getting a lavender corn snake and y'all inspired me to get a snake
Herping! I hope to see more awesome animals in this one!
I personally don’t really like snakes but I would never, NEVER hurt a snake intentionally
that snake at the start is very friendly
I'm so sorry for the poor momma snake. I stopped on my way out of my neighborhood recently to help a turtle that was crossing the entry to the neighborhood. I knew the curb would be hard for him so I pulled over, put my hazards on, and helped him across, up and over. Felt good and got to see a grade A cutie.
snake me too movement will be a thing in a few decades you better get to saving hahahaha
Thank you for ending that poor baby's suffering. I like to think I'd do the same, but I'm not sure I could.
you r my fav youtuber
I live in Gainesville fl, you should go to sweet water wetlands park, wild horses, gators, snakes galore
I love your videos
I will share, my daughter says "Some people call them creepy crawlies, I call them CUTEY Craawlies!"
Had to do the same thing for a copperhead I saw get hit. Caused her babies to burst out of her alive. All were in bad shape so had to go to one by one and help them the only way I could. I remember crying and saying I’m sorry to each one
The big toad was so cool!
I’m sorry you encountered that poor water snake, but kinda glad you were able to put her to sleep. I’m even more sorry for her and her litter 😔 I know reptiles get the worst of it, but where I live I’ve seen people go out of their way for mammals too. It’s awful. Racoons, porcupines, beavers, otters… even cats 🥺 I’ve heard some places with a lot of stray dogs will have people who will try to hit dogs too. It’s absolutely terrible that someone would try to kill an animal for the fun of it
I got a brown corn snake!
I'm guessing the common garters are considered different ecotypes and don't have enough genetic diversity to be different sub-speices but it is interesting how different they look!
Question: couldn't you feed them with day gecko eggs? (I think that was the species with only self fertilising females)
During the ribbon snake segment, what sort of animal was doing the honking in the background?
Hi Emily and hi Ed how are you guys doing today
Emily ed I bought Ur merch and I'm in the uk
Love toads.
rip little snake
Red eyed ribon
That poor mamma snake. I always swerve too miss animal's or stop completely. And if no one else is around me or I don't have an appointment, I'll get out take pic say hi and help them off the road. Far away from the road.
I am so sorry about the gravid snake and her babies, that’s awful
I can’t believe I was the first like to this video that never happend to me before!
Please get bearded dragons
And breed them 😊 i would love to see that
Hi
But i love snakes❤❤😊🎉
I can believe on how many views this vid has it’s been 10min
Hey
I feel like people focus on the mammals and pets getting hit but the snakes matter to
The raw emotion from both of you when you had to put that snake out of her misery broke my heart, I started tearing up a little. I would never be able to handle something like that
I know it’s hard but you’re letting them suffer if you don’t. To me that’s way worse than taking them out of their misery. It sucks really bad but it’s the right thing to do and you’re doing them a favor.
I was crying, not just because of what happened, but because of how destroyed Ed looked. I don't know if I've ever seen him look so hurt and anguished before. A few close friends and I all watch Snake Discovery and I went back and forth over that section multiple times to get the time stamps so they could be warned and watch it when ready because of how much we all love reptiles, Ed, and Emily.
It shows how much they care about reptiles. They didn’t want her to die but they knew she was suffering so they did what’s best for the animal. Emily and ed are amazing people
Sadly have done it about 10x. Worse was a 6 foot thick Texas ratsnake now called western ratsnake here in Houston, Tx. Took us a good 5min of our SUV over it for it to stop moving. 😢
My mom and I once hit a cat with the car (I have three cats myself) and all we could do for her was to hold her through her last moments.
We had a vet identify her and inform her owners etc.
It saddens me so much that people don’t feel that same horror for reptiles or smaller mammals like hedgehogs.
They all deserve dignity
My heart broke for ed and emily, the sadness they both felt for that water snake was so evident on there faces. This is why we all love them, they care so much ❤❤❤
I am crying after hearing that
*their
Thank you for doing what needed to be done with the water snake. I truly hope nobody actually hit her on purpose, but with how cruel people can be to snakes, I wouldn’t be surprised. Thank you for helping educate people on these wonderful animals, and hopefully preventing people from doing things like that in the future.
Once my dad broke a Cotten heads back trying to get it away from me. It floated down the creek. I was really upset dangerous or not some animals don’t deserve to lose their lives just having some venom in their body. It’s really sad.
@@ashleykauffman3712one time a cotton mouth had gotten into our porch and our cat Scarlett caught it with her paw and held it there for who knows how long before we noticed. Mom cut its head off with garden shears. It’s unfortunate, but if it bit Scarlett it would have killed her and if Scarlett hadn’t caught it, it would’ve bit me (I was very little at the time.)
This is exactly why we NEED reptile advocates like you both! I hope someday relatively soon, I can help educate people in NY about our beautiful friends. ❤
Emily's "NO NO NO! LET ME LOVE YOU!" attitude is the most enthusiastic toddler with a small, fuzzy, creature attitude and I am SO HERE FOR IT!!!
Can u add a time stamp
Condolences and thank you for putting the injured snake to rest.
Why would people do those horrible things of running them over instead of stopping and getting out of the car re directing it to the direction their crossing instead of running them over 😢
It’s a very sick thing to do!
I’m just glad the injured snake can finally rest in peace without suffering the Excruciating pain!
@@aleyshamahtab7268 Sometimes people just don't see them unfortunately, as they can look like debris on the ground. If the person who hit it actually did see the snake and did it on purpose? Then that's absolutely vile. We will never know sadly.
What matters is the snake isn't suffering anymore, thanks to Emily and Ed as hard as it was for them. I hope they gave themselves a good mental health break after that.
@@PastelKaijuyou're right, watersnakes really do look like sticks from a car.
@@aleyshamahtab7268 Sometimes you can't see and sometimes if you see you can't brake because of the speed you are going. Sadly it isn't always a question of being vile or not
It’s impressive Emily can catch snakes even while holding the camera
I'm convinced she can catch em blindfolded
15:54
That poor momma snake🥺 I know it was hard, but at least she didn't need to suffer any longer. You guys are very strong and brave for handling that so well.
All of the other snakes were so amazing! The scarlet snake was my favorite!
The garter snake was my favorite
I started watching these videos after having snake egg cutting videos recommended on my feed. Watched it because I was intrigued and have continued watching since! I used to hate snakes and thought they were dangerous. I wasn’t very knowledgeable of snakes and they made me nervous. Now I’m thinking about getting one as a pet. You guys do make a difference! I love the passion y’all have and you guys are great advocates!
**just in case y’all needed a reminder about how important it is for you to continue teaching people to appreciate snakes!!
I absolutely agree with this! They are the reason I bought myself a ball python! These people are amazing.
The pain on both of y’all’s face when you had to describe what happened to the gravid water snake absolutely broke me. My neighborhood is near a forest so I’ve had to do the same to some of the snakes that live in my area. I know that pain.
I know its sad but i can tell just how passionate you still are about reptiles based on your reactions to the gravid water snake and i appreciate it
Wouldn’t anyone to seeing that? That’s so sad! But I do agree.
When I was a kid, my family went on a cruise, and we stayed in Florida for a week afterwards. Our favorite part of the day was the midday monsoon because we would catch a ton of frogs, toads, and even a couple snakes afterwards. Every time we talk about that vacation my sister and I always say, "remember how many frogs we caught on that vacation!?" One of my best memories.
Snake be snaking
He do be snaking tho
I’m so sorry to you both. Some people are genuinely awful in their disregard for things deemed as “different” or “creepy”. I wish I could hug you both, you both looked absolutely devastated.
I have 100% seen people purposely hit snakes with their cars. Hopefully this case was just an accident. I’m so sorry you had to deal with that poor mama snake, but you know you did the right thing for her. Great educational video. Visiting family in FL this year so hopefully we will come upon some of these fun species.
I legit try to stop for BIRDS when their going across the road. Im always careful.
That's a real shame about the gravid water snake. I'm glad you all did the right thing, even though it must have been hard to do.
Mad respect for you with the snake in the road, it's not easy but knowing you care enough to put it out of its misery whereas a lot of people would just drive on by is big props. It's a pity the babies couldn't be saved.
Ed your face was showing your raw emotion and I sobbed. Emily you too. Thank you for doing what you do and thank you for keeping if it real xox much love and many hugs x
14:00. I was one of those people who were afraid of snakes (mostly due to media telling me all snakes are going to bite you and that bite will likely kill you). I started watching you during an extended hospital stay in high school. I’m now almost done college and have beat that fear. I even caught my first ever snake (a plains garter) a few weeks ago while at work!!!! Ahahaaa
I was tearing up when you told us about that poor gravid water snake.... It's terrible... 😢 Still, I want to stay positive, so... Can we talk about that GORGEOUS blue garter snake?! Soooo pretty! 😍
As an owner of 5 reptiles and 5 non-reptiles, you are an inspiration to us. Bc of you I got all my pets
Oh gosh, that sounds like quite the house full! I would love to have a full on menagerie, one day. If you don't mind my curiosity, what pets do you have? How did you decide what reptile to get first, and how did you find the first-time owner experience? Sorry, feel free to ignore my nosiness!
I agree! Owning 2 reptiles and 56 (I believe) non-reptiles, I love snake discovery!
@@katbairwell Of course, I have 2 leopard geckos, 2 bearded dragons, a chamelion, 2 dogs, 2 gerbils and a fish. My mum noticed that I love reptiles and animals so she told me 2 months before we got my first leopard gecko that if I carry on researching that i could get one. She mainly got be one since I love watching Snake Discovery ( this was years before the zoo opened ). Ever since then I've been watching Snake Discovery.
Oh how lovely! I am super jealous!
Thank you for your kindness toward that poor car-struck mama. So sorry you had to deal with that.
It hurts to se animals suffer, Good thing you came and could end the suffering, but it is hard.
Just wanted to say thank you for all the amazing content you put out so frequently! You helped me through some tough times and I'm very thankful for that!
And have funnnnnnnnn!
You’ve taught me so much about snakes so much that I got my own ( a baby snow corn snake ) I love snakes. It hurts to know you had to put the poor snake out of its misery. It’s fun watching your videos and learning so much. Thank you for the content 😄
I love the emotion and enthusiasm you guys show when you find something.
Sorry about the tough choice you had to make, but I’m sure she was better off not suffering anymore.
When I was a little kid, I was obsessed with snakes. Then I found your channel and I have never gone back 😊. I love you guys and all your work because y’all are some of the kindest people I’ve ever seen ❤
Its crazy to think people actually hurt and kill reptiles not only reptiles but animals.. Just why? Why harm or kill something that wont do anything to you? Its sad.
You two are just brilliant. So sorry you had to put that poor mama snake out of her misery but also glad you were there to help. Thank you great video as always. 💜
It’s devastating what happened with that gravid water snake and as horrible as it is I’m glad Ed and Emily shared that and what to do if you encounter the same situation. It’s a good thing they came through to make sure she didn’t continue to suffer
The sadness in both Emily and Ed’s demeanor broke my heart, you can see that raw emotion and hurt, my heart hurt with them😢. It’s people like Ed and Emily that’s truly being awareness and new hobbies for people like us all in the snake discovery family
Thank you both for giving mamma Nerodia a final gift
Almost at 3 million 🎉 what’s the celebration gonna be?? 😄
The poor snake that got hit by a car literally made me cry. That poor momma and her babies 😢 I'm glad you ended her suffering, but you should have never had to do that.
Thank you for taking care of the water snake. It sucks, but you're right - you did the right thing. I hope some of her babies make it!
Poor mama I feel so bad for her I hope who ever caused that gets the karma they deserve how could you do that to an animal even if it’s “creepy”
Hi I love your vids!❤️❤️
People who were here within a hour👇👇
Edit:1 Ed trying to use the thingy Emily grabs the corn snake 😂😂
You can tell how much sad and just not that excited they got after the momma snake... I am so sorry you guys had to see it, but at least she's resting now and not suffering anymore :( ❤
Thanks for posting your videos, I live in the uk you don't see many snakes out here and I used to be terrified of them, can officially say ive held a snake now and not afraid anymore
i live in the uk i only know that we have adders here, i don't know if we have anymore though as i live in a city
Yes we have adders down Cornwall mainly but can be found in a few other places, I think the only other thing we have remotely close to snakes are our slow worms, they kinda look like legless lizards just not as long and are smaller. They are grey or brown if I remember been a while since I seen one
@@Lucy-px2el ohhh, i forgot about slow worms as i only just learnt about them, I'm in the midlands so i never see adders or slow worms
Slow worms are actually leggless lizards so thats why they look like them 😂 , as a resident of Cornwall I quite often come across adders!
Oh and also we have grass snakes 🐍
I feel so bad for that poor water snake, the fact she was about to have babies is truly heartbreaking. Ya'll are amazing people and the reason I'm so into reptiles and that I have 2 of my own. Do you guys have any tips to finding the best places for reptiles, if so I'd love to know, I'm going to Florida again soon and wanna know where to go to find snakes! (and other reptiles!)❤❤
14:04 that's so sad! How can people be so, so ruthless??? Do they not feel remorse??? 😢
"Aw, he already got one of us"
Sorry to correct you Emily but female mosquitoes are the ones who drink blood.
What do the males eat?
Edit: nvm I looked it up. Interesting, never heard that before. Thanks!
I still remember running out to get a turtle and a car swerved to hit it. I was horrified... I can't imagine purposely trying to hit ANYTHING. Glad you were there and had the knowledge to access the situation and end the suffering. So sad. :(
Some time ago my brother saw someone do the same to an adult hedgehog.. It was walking on the other lane and that bastard intentionally ran over it. It still infuriates me! Other drivers, that came before that bastard, dodged the hedgehog. As sane people do! Glad those previous drivers never got to know what happened. I'm sure they'd be horrified..
I should add that the hedgehog died on the spot. In my brothers words 'it exploded'.
@@maunomato How awful!! :( I am glad the hedgehog did not suffer, but how absolutely and unnecessarily tragic. :(
Watching how the snakes run away was really cute and funny 😂
How fun if you ended up coming to Arizona someday to go critter hunting! We have SO many cool little animals here in the desert! 💛
They did a video several years ago about rattlesnakes in AZ
It made me really anxious to see you guys standing in the middle of the road.
I still can't get over you find snakes like that in the wild.....love from the UK xxx
