    Excellent walk thru. Many others I have seen make it difficult to see the complete layout. I like the way you did yours.

    Thanks for the tour. Between studs storage is one of our fave tricks. So much extra space otherwise lost. I agree with Janet Wilham about cabins over mansions, and Jamal's Second amendment closet.. I also left a comment on Curtis Jackson, if you don't mind.

    Hi Steve from Altoona in Central Pa. We checked out your videos thanks to Mike and Melissa. Nice cabin, love it, nice and cozy looking. I'll bet that road gets a little hairy after some snow fall. We have sixty two acres here and built a little one room 2 story dry log cabin on the property and we love staying in it and hanging out. Looking forward to more!

    any cabin in West Virginia is worth more than any million dollar mansion in a city!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--!!! PS=a tip I learned from the Amish is==buy a bottle of strong clove oil-mix this in a spray bottle with water and a few drops of dish liquid then spray under cabinets, closet bottoms , under sinks and door bottoms--this will keep mice away and it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I really like the all wood wall paneling. How much room do you have upstairs? The cabin looks inviting.

    What's upstairs? Congrats on finding that property and cabin. Awesome find, and great job with it. I've hiked many times up and down Snakeden Mountain. The Cranberry is one of my favorite places in the world. I'm so jealous! :-D

    • @wvcabinliving134
      @wvcabinliving134  6 років тому +1

      Upstairs is exposed rafters with foam board insulation between you and the metal roof. The original floor upstairs was 1/2" T-111 siding turned so the pattern faces down stairs. I have since added an additional layer of 5/8" plywood to sturdy things up. The upstairs needs some work, but it will make a nice loft one day. And thanks, it really was a great find. There are others out there though. You just have to be patient and keep looking.

      WV Cabin Living Good to know! I would sure love to retire back in wv some day....had no idea there was so much private property in the middle of the forest!

    • @wvcabinliving134
      @wvcabinliving134  6 років тому +2

      I like your plan; especially the retirement part. A couple of good places to keep an eye on would be up Williams River from Cowen, WV or on Country Club Road and Hinkle Mountain Road just north of Richwood. There are several camps / cabins in these areas. For that matter, if you just want a place in town, you can buy alot of house in Richwood for very little money. And it would seem Richwood is on the mend these days, with a good little diner getting established again, and a brew pub kind of place opening this Summer. It kind of feels like things are picking up there.

    • @WayOffTheTrail
      @WayOffTheTrail 6 років тому +1

      Thanks again for the tips. Great to see Richwood coming back. Certainly close enough to the Cranberry...but I think I'd want to look for a place up the hill a ways, not in the flood plain!

    Is that kitchen sink and cabinet from Montgomery Ward? I was looking at an older home in Mt. Clemens, Michigan a few years back and the place had a Montgomery Ward kitchen setup almost identical to yours.

    I would like to know how you hooked up the sprayer to the water jug

    • @wvcabinliving134
      @wvcabinliving134  5 років тому +1

      Darren -- really simple. The cap on the water jug unscrews, and is I think 3/4" NPT, so I simply kept stepping the size down with brass fittings until I was able to hook up a standard sink sprayer. It is simply gravity fed. If you need more detail, let me know and I will do a quick video sometime.

    thanks for sharing, On the propane frig , I have been looking into these as well, Yours seems to be from a camping trailer, How long does it take for these to cool down? As yes very pricey

    • @wvcabinliving134
      @wvcabinliving134  6 років тому

      To place a previously un-refrigerated beverage inside and light the fridge, it will take overnight to get good and cold. However, I have never had an issue with picking up groceries on the way in, starting the fridge, and simply placing my perishables in the fridge. No issues with spoiledge, even in the summer.

    Do u know off any land close by for sale

    • @wvcabinliving134
      @wvcabinliving134  6 років тому

      No, but I does occasionally become available. Back when I was looking to buy, I used to stay tuned into the Charleston, WV Craigslist, Zillow, Red Oak Reality, and United Country Real Estate. We found our place via Craigslist after dealing with a couple of Realtors. If you are familiar with the area, some places to watch are: Williams River up stream from Cowen, WV; north of Richwood, WV on Hinkle Mtn. Road, and Country Club Road; and the Elk River above Webster Springs, WV.

    • @wvcabinliving134

      And never discount getting out from behind the computer, going for a drive in the area you want to be, and simply asking around. It doesn't take long to bump into the right person that knows someone, that knows someone in WV. I remember driving by the gate to my place 6 months before the purchase and thinking, how lucky they were to have a place like that. Little did I know, I would soon own it.

      This is not close by for you, but never know who might read this. I have 5 fenced acres, one house and one mobile home for sale in Cameron, OK. Most productive garden spot you would ever need. Hay pastures, divided into two parts for rotating livestock. Can see it in my video Homestead Tour. Pass the word around for anyone needing a two-home small acreage homestead.
