It brought back some great memories of having to slog through the lines of basic in the hope that there wasn't a typo to be found or that it crashed, and then that massive payoff when the game played and you enjoyed the fruits of your labour. You were correct not to download the listing, this is more rewarding and not the quick fix everyone these days wants. Great vintage stuff.

Thank you!! So true with those memories. Back then, the worst thing that could happen when typing from a magazine/book was a typo on their end. You'd wait for a month or until the next issue or two to see the correction in the editor's forum. Even more rewarding if you could find their typo and get it to work, lol. Speaking of typing BASIC programs, I hope to get the Flashback 40 with ANTICS and Analogs videos back up on track starting in November. There's so much more to explore in them. Thanks again for your feedback and checking this out.

Hey! Thank you so much. I'm glad you liked the video. Even though this was a book, it sure took a lot of time to create the video but there was lots of fun in doing it 😉

Oh man! This one brings back memories! This was not the first book I ever bought for my Atari 800, but it was one that I bought specifically to use along with my Rana Systems 1000 disk drive! I waited all year for Christmas to get my first disk drive. The version of the book I had was purple and spiral bound with all of the example programs on a floppy. I'll have to dig through my Mom's bookshelf at her house next time I see her. It might still be there. Needless to say, I was never a programmer, nor was I overly interested in becoming one. I just wanted to play games, so this book was maybe wasted on me. However, I did like the humor and the drawings it had. The ironic thing is, I am a manager of a team of data analysts and I do quite a bit of Oracle SQL coding on a daily basis.

I probably should have invested in more books when I was a kid instead of just magazines like ANTIC and ANALOG, lol. I think this would have been a fun book to go through and the humor surely is an added bonus. Speaking of bonus, yeah your version with the floppy is nice and makes it easier to open and type a program from a spiral bound vs the paperback binding where it tries to close up. Christmas is around the corner. Time to get that Rana Systems 1000 out and the book + floppy to load some memories 😁. Thanks for sharing!
